Really? I think that's my favorite out of the lot. In the old clan rat box they were so beefy and static. In the new box they look alot more dynamic and rat-like. I like the skinnier build and longer toothy faces on them. This is more how I see the clan rats looking in my head. Also they kept the 20 model count and actually reduced the price of the box. That I think is some sort of miracle in this day and age. GW throwing us a bone? I think it might be skewing my opinion of the box a bit.

Now lets see the actual armybook...

I'll miss the fish-dog skaven, but this is an awesome step forward.

I'm also fine with the 49.50 SilverVermin, as unlike Goldswords, you actually get 20 in a box.

Thats a hell of a mark-up on the british prices. After conversion to a proper ( ) currency thats £30.20 and £45.56 compared to our £20 and £30. Do you always get a 50% mark up over there?

Yes, we do. Australian prices are absurd - beyond any of the normal GW price shenanigangs, we also pay more than everyone else on top of your prices.

Why do you think I pimp places like Maelstrom Games UK so much. With the difference between UK and Oz prices at the moment and the current exchange rates, we're getting damn near 50% off and free shipping.

But honestly - it's 20 plastic miniatures. Why do these plastic minatures cost so significantly more than every other 20-man plastic minature box other than some asinine (and I'd say criminal) excuse about their in-game worth?

Fantasy Heavy Infantry boxes in the UK are generally £15 for 10 models, so the £30 for 20 models is inline with the rest of their pricing.

Are you being wilfully ignorant Grotsnik?

Free Company - 20 models - £17.60
Zombies - 20 models - £17.60
Bret Bowmen - 16 models - £17.60
Bret Men-At-Arms - 16 models - £17.60
Tomb Kings Skelleis - 16 models - £17.60
Saurus - 16 models - £17.60
Night Goblins - 20 models - £17.60
Stormvermin - 20 models - £29.35

It's not 'in line'. If it's 'in line', why aren't the Clan rats also $29.35?

new plastic stormvermin: it's business. Anything that people buy less of is more expensive.
And you can't compare it to Bowmen or Militia, the Greatswords (which are $40 for ten) are really the best analog for tabletop function (and these sculpts are awesome).
Also, you can bet that if they did the Stormvermin at 10 models/box they wouldn't have been $25.
The Old, Inferior, Metal box set of 10 was $50 as well. win-win-win.
I also don't buy the "metal is more expensive, so it's ok if the sticker price is higher". The reason I don't own any stormvermin right now is BECAUSE they were metal. I hate dealing with metal. I don't like repairing paint chips, I don't like using superlue. The fact that they're plastic, better-detailed, easy-to-convert, come with tons of EXTRA BITZ that I can use on other models from any range does nothing but increase the VALUE that I'm getting.

People complainign about prices for kits like this... if you wouldn't buy it even if it's $20, don't complain if it's $50.
That may not apply here, but it's like going to gametrailers and seeing FPS fanboys say they're not going to buy an RPG because it looks stupid.

I play Skaven and will be happily paying half a hundred bucks for at least one box of these incredible plastic models.

Oh dear god.
The sexiness of the characters.

I have some DE models, but the these models....nice. Might have to 'actually' get into WFB...

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Actually, DE rules work pretty well for them. You could also find a way to make Orks work for them, too - or an All-Kroot list.

As the Busty Bint pointed out, you have listed only basic Infantry. Now for a proper comparisson....

1. Graveguard. 10 models for £16.65
2. Greatswords. 10 models for £24.45
3. Flagellants (though not Heavy, they are limited list wise in a similar way) £13.20 for 10 models.
4. Templeguard. 10 models for £16.65
5. Black Orcs. You guessed it! 10 models for £16.65

So, compared to comparable units in other armies which have had a redo since 7th Ed came out.....

Clanrats are also less than redone infantry. Most new plastic infantry retails around £12 (less the VAT saving which ends in December) for 10 models, so £20 for 10 is once again, a healthy £4 less.....

Said it on the other thread, and at the risk of earning the ire of the powers that be on Dakka, I don't understand why people have a problem understanding this one...

Making the mold for plastic models is a fixed capital investment. Yes the plastic to make the models, the packaging, the time investment in designing the figures, etc, probably costs the same for elites or regular troops, but you can expect much greater sales for regular troops and therefore can spread out the capital investment over a broader base leading to lower prices on a per unit basis for regular troops. Elites, by their nature, do not sell as heavily as troops. Therefore to recoup the capital investment you need to charge a higher cost per model.

One could, perhaps, argue that the delta between the two is artificially wide, but to say there's no justification strikes me as being off the mark.
