This just doesn't work for me.
The Frazetta chained axe guy isn't bad, but the anatomy / proportions are always slightly "off" on the models.
With Infinity and others turning out great work, I can't see this getting any of my spend.

Agreed.
I meant specifically the BDSM theme, though. Then again I guess that's not fair since they were deliberately trying for that with these.

I gotta say, I am definitely in the "meh" camp on these, and I think I own about 60% of the Dark Age BDSM models ever made. They just are not that good, having mostly potential for conversion bases as anything else. Now, if they were priced at a point where using them as partiall done sculpting dollies was worth while, that would be cool. Anymore than 1-2$ a pop though, and I will need a very specific idea that needs them for execution before I buy any.

Could be, but it probably won't be. another game that no one will play.
They're painted well, but aren't terribly spectacular models.
Plus there's that "French" thing. reference: confrontation with either no translation or such a terrible one that no one could read it.
Bottom Line: Indifferent.

This really does look terrible. I'm normally really optimistic, but geez. "Ok, scary clown hermaphrodite black guy swings a stop sign at you." "No, my lard-ass submissive is immune to stop signs! He punches you back." What a wonderful narrative game :p

Granted, some (all?) of the other factions are indeed out there, but the ISC are pretty nice, I think!

I think the ISC look really cool, but there-in lies the problem "My super awesome racist-looking ninja robot in search of his past slices your clown hermaphrodite with his sword which he has instead of a gun for some reason!" "My clown's red nose is actually a grenade and blows us both up!" Ha, I just can't even imagine what a game of this would look like. I might enjoy watching a demo.

I guess I should clarify, I see OTHER uses for these miniatures.
I try not to mention that all the time, but hey, there it is.
I really only have the time (and money!) for a few games.
Depending upon how big the large ISC figure is, I can see him being the basis for a Primarch conversion. At least, it will get me a lot closer than if I had to scratch build it myself!
Other than that... Well, apparently Taban Miniatures' has got a lot of haters out there!

OK, here's the full set of links to pics, with comments. Jokers / "clowns" - So very French, I want to cry. The guy in the tutu is well-sculpted, but does it have to be so gay-looking? "tribal" Clan Bamaka - And here, I thought GW's now-discontinued "Pygmy" minis were inappropriate. But man alive, these "mutant" minis are begging to serve up a major ass-whupping from the first black guy that sees you with them. I don't think it's even possible to do a more stereotyped version of black africa than what I see here. "bondage" Matriarchy - Apaprently, these are also a dig at religion. Even better, because going after race, you might as well go after religion. ISC "drones" - the aforementioned Japanese stereotyped robots, of which only the big one is a decent sculpt. No, this just isn't going to work for me as a game. It's not that so much that I'm a hater, it's more that I think the 3 of the 4 factions are inherently offensive.

I can't disagree with you, for the most part!
Still, there are some nice miniatures in there, for use in other places, I think!
Sadly though, I don't think any of the ones I want are available outside of rather pricey boxed sets...

If one is converting them for other use, then that big ISC robot would be awesome. Same with the big Bamaka guy.
But this game, with such a small range, and such weak conceptual development, is sorely lacking. Brom's game has similar problems.
And as I noted, you look at something like Infinity, and wow, that's just awesome stuff. Or Malifaux, too.
It's a real pity the designers didn't go a little deeper.

I on the other hand fully confess to hating these. Because, as you said, they offend the senses. Unless the rules for this game are inherently awesome, and most likely even then, this game is going to crash and burn on the miniatures market. There's no more design space for skirmish games available, especially not bad ones.

The upside of barely-clothed miniatures is that it leaves room to GS whatever you want clothes-wise. I suppose that applies to hooded, fat men as well.

I got the ISC starter plus 2 extra "Ronin" (the twin swords medium drone), and I gotta say the sculpts are even better than expected in flesh! (And I had somewhat high expectations, as the UW Shogun-suits for the Triads are crapo and I had plans to use the EDEN drones as replacements.
However, the game seems somewhat cool, if someone in my club gets into anoterh faction I will have to use them "as intended".

A bit of interesting stuff, but it has little to no distribution. Two stores in europe, and 1 online site in TX? Think that's all I saw. Makes for a very small player base. Perfecet for dumping a couple of hundred dollars into and finding out no one wants to play.)
If they were compatable with Necromunda, I think they'd see more sales, and the free advertising for their figures that goes along with that.

No, nothing there to pull me away from current direction.
On the scale issue, I wish someone would take it right up to 1/35, that way you'd have a butt load of model you could intergrate easily into your games.

Quick note Malifaux is 32mm as well and the models mix alright with the general Citadel miniatures as their heroic 28mm....32mm actually doesn't make much difference. Automatically Appended Next Post: Looking at it the ISC leader would make a really good Tau commander.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. A few of the minis are *really good*, such as this one:
http://www.eden-blog.com/Galerie/Mutants/images/mutant_chef_2.jpg
Problem is, for every good sculpt they have a few with the human proportions made wrong (in a "bad sculpt" way - not in a "distorted mutant" way).

website works for me:
http://www.taban-miniatures.com/
i really like the ISC...
the moment i saw the first pics on coolmini, i was sold...
i don't game, so i just go with what makes me want to paint...
mecha definitely make me want to paint...
i know this is gonna get me flamed, but i don't see the racist or anti-religious thing...
i see minis, not underhanded digs at race and religion...
i think that people are reading way too much into this...
Clan Bamaka look cool to me...
i don't see how they are anti-african...
i don't see how Tau or ISC are anti-Japanese...
the Matriarchy are not my style, but i don't see any digs at religion...
honestly, i'm baffled at what people can project onto this, or any, line of sculpts...
all i know is that half these sculpts get me itchin' to paint, and the other half don't...
'nuff said...
cheers
