Ok. A friend of mine is the one who made that, and that was just a dry test fit from what I remember. In any case, you'll have to dremel off one entire side of the Aquila Shrine piece for it to slot in nicely. And the eagle door is even wider than that (it's 3COD panels wide rather than 2COD panels wide).

Yep. I managed to trim a bit off the side to make it symetrical but great Space Emperor that was annoying.

So now I have the body of it, still waiting for the tracks.

Pics tomorrow.

Tracks are done!

I do appologize for the blurry picture, but the time I'd seen I'd already taken the thing apart to do some more filing and sanding on it.

But anyway the thing is a beast, a @#$%ing beast. It makes baneblades look tiny. I can hide a chimera under the chassis. I have a cannon that can fire terminators out its barrel.

Here's a less blurry shot but with only one set of tracks.

The marine for scale is just a tiny blur.

Fly Lords of Terra have a datasheet at 1600 points but I've gone with a different weapons layout.

6x lascannon
6x heavy bolter
1x DOOMSDAY cannon (10" template, Str-D)
1x Volcano cannon (may downspec it to a vanquisher cannon)
3x Icarus lascannons

I'll run it through the old VDR rules and see what comes out.

QFT!

That is an amazing looking vehicle you got there KK. I have to agree that the turret on top looks...wrong? I'm assuming you're planning to trim it down some so it actually fits in there and doesn't lean to one side. If that's the case, it will look much better IMO.

Call me crazy but the epic Leviathan had the same footprint as a baneblade. Leviathans can hold 100 guardsman, yours can hold alot more. Based on the epic model this is a more to scale depiction:

I like your model. I like the concept of Leviathan and Leviathan like vehicles. I know its a semantic arguement, but I wouldn't call it a Leviathan.

Yeah, I started with something much more reasonable, if you scroll up you can see the first concept sketch but GW fluff is all over the place. The original Leviathan was a tall baneblade but since then we've had things like a Gaunts Ghost book where the Leviathan has mutiple decks and elevators so I upsized.

I found someone who made one correctly scaled to the epic model but can't find it now. I did however find this:

I think from a fluff perspective it would be easy enough to assume leviathan isn't as much a specific vehicle as a class type of vehicles with in the Imperium. The Iron Hands use similar crawlers for each companies clan house, so their obviously ones bigger than the epic model. I tend to favor the design scaled to the epic models, because I find it more impressive to imagine a line of these moving across the field; an army having one for each platoon. Probably only the adeptus mechanicus would ever do that.

You should illuminate the model with LEDs and fibre optics. It would be fairly easy because you have a lot of space to work in.

You could also print transfers and make the gothic arch windows real stained glass. Put the transfers onto clear acrylic sheet.

Awesome job. Not to "hate," but has anyone else had a problem with the low trajectory angle of the hull cannon, seems the silliest part of GW original design?

No.

All Imperial vehicles vary from silly to very silly anyway.

The super-heavies are even sillier. It is the balls to the wall sillyness that amuses me about them. The sillier the better as far as I am concerned.

w40ktank, that is brilliant, thanks!

I already know I'm not in the top league, not till I build 3 Imperiators. And buy a new house to keep them in...

Tonight's progress...

First off I installed the DOOMSDAY! Cannon. The DOOMSDAY! Cannon fires shells of weaponized DOOMSDAY! imported at great hazard from Planet DOOM!

To bear the weight I used 3 steel screws, so far so good.

And here it is, next the tracks, then some detailing.

I have a suggestion!

Keep the inside empty / hollow
double it as a mini army transport case

Thats a Capitol Imperialis with extra guns, its even a little big for a Capitol.

A Leviathan is a taller, slightly wider Baneblade, this thing can transport Baneblades.

It really depends on what backgorund references you choose to follow.

The Leviathan as depicted in Epic was as you describe, it had a transport capacity of 6 stands (30 Guardsmen) with a wheel base only slightly larger then a Baneblade, thats what mine follows scaled up from the Epic Model in line with other similarly sized vehicles.

However much of written material on them (eg Gaunts Ghosts, the Ultramarines Novels, codex Armageddon) depicts them as far larger, vast mobile fortresses able to house vehicles, a landing pad and many many Guardsmen, hundreds at least, which on the face of epic background sounds more like a Capitol Imperialis. Some of that will be down to artistic licence, much as Warlord titans are often depicted as towering over mountains - yet are typically regarded as being under 50meters (47m?) tall in more specific references - but thats not to say it's simply a case of that, they are clearly often describing much larger vehicles.

Of course on the other hand there is moderation in the more recent background Tyrok Fields makes mention of several Leviathan's, it mentions a standard secruity detail on the Cadian vehicles of about a Platoon, the traitor guard swamping the Cadian defences by opening their rear hatches and allowing the full might of the massed infantry to move up through their Levaithans to assault the loyalist ones. This does'nt point to them have an overwealming transport capacity in the first place. More tellingly from my point of view though is mention of the loyalist Reaver Titans tipping the traitor Leviathans over - we have a model for a Reaver, we know how big it is, looking at the relative sizes I dont think theres anyway a Reaver could tip turn over something like w40ktank version, imagine the weight of it, but something smaller like my own example, definately.

Now thats not to say that w40ktank's is'nt a Leviathan, my take is simply that the Levaithan is simply a catch all name for a class of vehicle which is broadly similar in purpose but varies immensely depending on it's origin, some are larger more like a mobile fortress, some are smaller more of a mobile command bunker, ALL are Levaithan's - just differenet classes.
