Thanks all, feedback really does help.

I will be green-stuffing the gaps, they bug me too.

The rear door will get a frame around it. The whole CoD tile would not fit so I have to build something out of plasticard.

Covering the hull gaps is also a priority, I might use CoD floor tiles or some industrial scaffolding I have. I have to play around a bit.

I also like the idea of side-mounted tracks but they worry me. Right now all the stress on the model is straight down, once I put the tracks on the side I change how the stresses work, the tracks might sheer off or the whole model might split down the center.

Keep in mind the main body is not a single unit but dozens of separate wall tiles held together by 1mm contact points plastic glued together. If it was a wood box with bitz on the outside I'd be more confident in side-tracks but for the model I have I feel more confident with everything stacked rather than praying the tracks stay anchored to the sides. I did give it a lot of thought though.

Pivoting tracks... again great idea but I worry about the integrity of it. Besides I imagine they just rotate them in different directions.

THe painting plan is grey, red and black with brass on the icons and other details. Same color scheme as my tanks.

finally read this thread, and have to say I am feeling this model. Great work looks cool.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

If you wanted to mount the tracks on the side, I would suggest running thick plastic or wood rods along the bottom or through the structure that would give it some strong support. I would say 3-4 rods per pair of tracks.

You could always take the bottom off, then reinforce the inside and stick the bottom back on.

Personally, unless i would plan to play Leviathan-ball i would not worry one bit about side mounted tracks (in accordance with a little reinforcement and a good dose of glue).

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

It does look like you've built the hull, then just set it down on top of some tracks. There's no... substance... to its hull beyond that. It's awkward.

I've got to agree with H.M.B.C. on this one, there really is no continuity the design. I can see orks running around with a miniature city strapped on wheels, but not marines...

I will see if I can do a bit of shooping to show you how you could make it look a bit better.

yeah as you have , i think it looks funny. Side mounted tracks would look much better as at the moment it looks so top heavy. But i think you have done an awesome job the superstructer looks terrific.

he's touching it!

on a serious note, i think i'm liking the tracks underneath the superstructure, instead of on the sides. if anything i would would fill in the areas between the 2 tank chasis somehow. just a thought.

Wow, good stuff. I really need to learn photoshop.

I'm back home and adding some plasicard to fill out the bottom then will decorate with skulls and other madness. More pics soon.

And here's the weekend update!

I beefed up the front with some plasticard, forgeworld brass eagle and some dozer spikes.

I also named it.

I went through a few names, such as one celebrating my Hispanic heritage 'El Blow-Upinator' and the simple but descriptive 'The Beast' but in the end tradition won out and I named it for a Transformer - Fortress Maximus!

I tried to find plastic letters I could glue on but had no luck, hopefully these stickers will stand out enough when I paint it.

As many people recommended it got walkways on the sides with access ladders for disembarking infantry.

It also got a hunter killer missile and will get a pintle heavy bolter. Why? Well if I'm spending close to 2000 points on a tank, why the heck not.

"Lord Militant, the forces of the Archenemy approach. Shall I arm the DOOMSDAY! cannon?"

"Yes by all means, but first let's give them a taste of the hunter killer missile and pintle-mounted storm bolter."

Anyway, next steps are more details, banners for the sides, gargoyles for the back, structure for the bottom. Then, with luck painting!

the pieces you added to the sides really helped, imo.
and i couldn't agree about the HK and the pintle mounted heavy bolter!
hell, put the fuzzy dice on the rearview mirror (monitor?) for 2000 points!

I think that if you do put banners on the sides, you should make it look as if each is of a different regiment, showing that the Leviathan has served over many other regiments.

Also, If it is 2,000 points, then those fuzzy dice should be upgraded to fuzzy grenades!

If I had a dollar for every dollar I spent I'd have all my money back.

+1 WYSIWYG I tells you!

On a more serious note: it looks a lot better now; all the pieces look more integrated. Will the HB be for AA purposes? If yes, the roof is the perfect place. If not, 36" range means you'll barely reach the ground .

Finally returning to this project after some real-life and modeling distractions.

First some good shots to get an idea of the size.

I also kit-bashed 'Lord Militant Omar Hideosh' to command the beast.

The tech priests are doing the final adjustments before I start painting.

Of course just when I think I'm done guess what finally arrives...

Each one will be at least baneblade sized but will need conversion and Grimdarking.
