The game basically ends halfway through the storyline, a more blatant "You'll have to buy the sequel now!!" ploy I've never seen before.

Of course, a lot of people thought the same and the gameplay wasn't extraordinarily great either (though I thought Banzai charges were a nice touch), word of mouth ensured sales that weren't great so ---> a sequel was never made. GAH!

Yeah, I much preferred MoH: Frontline.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I disliked the end of Final Fantasy XII as well. Not for the end cinematics or anything, those were great as usual for a FF game but for the boss fight. In FF games the boss fight is universally the toughest thing you'll ever fight. Enough instalments saw me level grinding and item hunting after my party was easily wiped by the end boss in their first encounter.

Not so in XII. The guys has like 3 incarnations right after each other but he was incredibly easy to beat. There were Esper fights out in the world I couldn't win yet, there were level parts that I'd rather not get into because I could get squashed by the regular monsters. Hell, even the robo-like critters somewhat before the end boss gave me a harder time! So I beat the guy and I was ready to see him fly of or something so I'd go on with the story and face you much more powerfull incarnation later on in the game......but instead I've completed the game. An end fight not worthy for a FF game.

Other than the original Final Fantasy, the end boss is rarely anything compared to the optional boss(es).

hmmmm.... Section 8. yes, that one new game where you drop from 10,000 feet into the warzone. less story than battlefield 1942 (which was more like a history lesson than an actual story) that was the most overused "soldiers squad gets wiped out and wants revenge" gak. dont even talk about the end boss. its not hard, but incredibly cheap, you die about 40 times before he dies (yes, you have inf. lives, thank god)

QFT. FF7 Sephiroth was a joke, FF8 Ultimacia was a joke, FF9 Kujo or whatever his name was a joke, FF10 Jecht was a joke, FF12 I couldn't stomach to the end saddly...

FF7 = Hardest boss was Emerald wep, tho to me Ruby was (if you didn't cheese the fight)
FF8 = Omega weapon was tough if you didnt have the right guys (aura + lionheart = win)
FF9 = Ozma... stupid boss, never beat the stupid thing. You had to keep an armor from halfway through the game, that you cannot buy later on, in order to stand a chance.
FF10 = Monster Ranch bosses
FF12 = Miverva or whatever it was called, the stupidly hard "smash my healing spells as fast as I can" boss

FF1 Chaos was by far the hardest, no doubt. 2 and 3 had harder side bosses (cannot name em atm). FF4 had bahamut and all those, which were tough. FF6 Kefka was a joke, but stuff like the Trexes and stuff were tougher than he was.

Completely agreed. I heard so much about the fantastic story that I used beer money (beer money!!!) to buy it. Beat it in a couple days, and realized I had expected the ending after about 2 hours of game play. Honestly, I would've been more surprised had it been played straight.

Assassin's Creed 1. After playing through the game, which takes a while, and after getting a bit bored by the completely repetitive nature of the game, but still being bloody minded enough to get to the damned end, the ending of the game is just a quick scene saying that the game isn't finished and that the sequel will have more answers. Bastards! Overall, I enjoyed the game, but won't buy the sequel until it comes down in price because of how bad the ending to the original was.

With the Final Fantasy's doesn't it depend on how you get to the final boss? If you play pretty much as straight through as possible, the final bosses are tough (Same with Dragon Quest series) but if you take the time to really wander and max-out and fight the optional bosses (They are called optional for a reason) than the finale's are a bit easy. At least this is in my experience.

Assassin's Creed 2.

The ending pretty much assured that I won't buy the sequel.

Halo 3

Ok, so what happens next? Yes it's a cliffhanger, but a very dumb one at that. I liked Halo: Combat Evolved's ending the best, because it didn't leave you thinking "What the Hell?"

Bishock

A fantastic story, but there are really only 2 different endings, the other one is simply narrated in an angrier tone.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Wait, so the twist at the end of Bioshock is that the guy is gay? What was he doing two hours into it that gave it away?

To a certain extent, but with games like FF they really promote exploration and doing extra stuff. It just seems so... watered down to fight the final bosses. I did beat FF8 straight through and 9, and even then the end bosses just seemed weak. And FF12 from what I was told the end boss is easy, the battle system just makes everything hard.

As for Bioshock, I agree... I was kinda sad how weak the ending was after how powerful and awesome the story was.

And AC1... BY GOD I agree. The ending was weak, then again the story wasn't particularly strong either. I can't wait to finish AC2... being a slow poke at it tho lol

If all one does is complain about about how it is not the same turn based system they used in every FF before I could see it being hard, other than that the new combat system was one of the best things about FF 12.
