Well, my plans for dog failed when I gave him a razorback's twin-linked lascannon for a head. It just makes him too illproportionate/huge. At the moment it looks more like I have the start of an Angel Legion Mercenary-pattern sentinel (basically a 4 legged unmanned walking turret) from the high age of technology. The body is probably 75% done, and I've just attached the first 2 pieces of sprue that will be making the front legs. The legs are so big I'm going to have to force it's walking position on a 60x100mm base, and even then it'll probably have one leg in the air. In the end I think my ability to model the sprue legs over with grey stuff is really going to make or break the design. However, if I totally sucks, I can always just give 'em a lot of weird bumps and bulges and weird curves like the bubbles all over eldar vehicles. I think that'll make it steam/cyber-punk evangelion feeling enough.
All thats really left at the moment is some grey stuffing to the body, putting the legs together, and then some work to the lascannon to replace the cables and have them run up into the body, then to figure a way to kind of "close" the body around the apparatus. If I manage not to anger myself doing something stupid like getting the legs where I want then then breaking them I may make a second and possibly third for some sort of "up armored" sentinel legion, although twin linked las isn't exactly what I had in mind for my sentinels (I do say, melta or plasma) but what the hey, if they're cool right? I've got 2 days off this weekend (although one will be consumed by football) and I really want to at least get it 'finished' to where I can start to putty up the legs. Anyway, enjoy.
I think you can get a general idea for whats going on here.
We'll see if I manage to give it some large enough front claws that could be considered powerfists. I'm thinking I may play it a lot like it's a SM Dreadnaught, which is kinda sad, although a squadron of 3 of those doesn't sound too terrible.
ed. alright now I'm thinking about giving it an underbelly mounted flamer.

To much inspiritaion! I will have to do the scope idea once i have finished 40 zombif-ied imperial guard.
But seriously awesome figures, but yeah even though you said you were going all out on the first squad I still think its a wee bit to much, maybe just make the foliage stay below head height?

The finished sprue legs are getting glued on today. This thing spilled right off the 60x100 base and is looking to have a seat on a 120mm round with it's girth. The head still looks huge, but I think bulking up the legs and back trans-axle should make it look quite a bit more weight balanced. There's really no way it's going to look good unless I can pull off some serious techno-sculpting. Heres a shot of the belly WIP.

So today I've managed to watch 3 movies and stick the first 3 legs on this thing. Due to size and the basic laws of math and trig I'm thinking this thing might need a couple more legs. Just to make sure if something of this size and specification were really built it could, you know, walk without falling over =/.
At it's current height barring I add another set of joints and extensions it's just a little under 3"/80mm before feet.
Hopefully I can get it stuck on this and then model a bit more on the base (so you can all complain about too much brush some more) and then hit it with a layer of plastic water to make it looks like it's in a slightly flooded necron temple (dun dun dun), which is how I plan to base atleast one squad of stormtroopers.
It's most definitely getting a flamer attached to the underbelly, possibly where the las cables will enter and the "inner workings" will later be shielded with plasticard.

Nothing terribly new, I went to work on it today and a back leg fell off. A little repositioning and to my surprise the dang thing decided to stand on 3 legs. That circle there is roughly 120mm. I've got to stop being lazy and get off the couch to a better light source for better pictures. A lot of the detail is either lost in me sucking at photography or just the fact it's all white.

And with legs. Weekend goal complete.
After breaking and repositioning one of the original (read: the ones that hadn't fallen off yet) legs, it MIGHT squeak onto a 100x60...but it's going to be close. So far I read 46x97. Maybe something more like this. Should be good.

Oookay, well...Since my job burned to the ground a couple three weeks ago and is now a filled in lot where there were once 4 store fronts and 8 apartments, I've had a bit more time to mess around.
Yesterday I went and got the Wire and DAP Contact Cement I need to not only work on my IG but also my Legion of Everblight box set which as of the moment remains disassembled. So for anyone that wants to read a big block of text before I get this rolling and put together a proper (hopefully) light box in the next couple of days, here we go.
As for the Imperial Guard, the main non-tournament force is likely to be comprised of lots of well...illegal things. My friends and I play basically WYSIWYG Homebrew and just kind of assign points values to things game by game and how we feel it's fair (think Tau railgun that can fire through three units and wound them all from where the shot lands to cannon tip by LOS, I've seen a 550 point Calgar with 9 wounds and psychic abilities (he died turn 3, lol)). My first platoon command squad currently (they're in the process of being painted) has gas grenades that will likely start with their rules from the Siege of Vraks Part II Engineer's entry. The medic has an underslung grenade launcher and rocket propelled grenades, likely to be something like 12" Str4 AP- blast, the melta gunner has flares I'm not sure how we'll use yet.
In keeping a bit with the Half-Life 2 feel I'll probably at least attempt to model up Hunters, and over the psat 2 days made an albeit oversized pretty good looking Manhack, which will hopefully be making power weapon attacks before it gets shot. I plan to attempt HL2 overwatch/ CP as arbites with god only knows what for weapons, and while I'm in the neighborhood plan on taking a stab at District 9 MNU armor as well. The only real quasi-problem is the Manhack looks grossly Necron and the Hunters are undoubtedly Tau. I say quasi because well...I GET TO DESIGN MY OWN CAMPAIGN WORLD, W00. I mean every army has a honeworld, amirite? I've been working on this campaign setting for quite a while now, if it suits your needs feel free to use it, can't imagine why anyone would. I'll just leave this here for those of us not daunted by walls of text.

Still working on this photo taking thing, these look better imo, although they're a tad dark before I auto adjust them. Next round I'll point some light at their feet. I'll try again later when I get some more done.
The unmanned walker is having it's legs bulked out by all my extra grey stuff as I go.
The gentleman here is staring at something after finding 2 engorged fleshborers and whats left of some poor soul's head.
And here's a heavy flamer, with gas mask and shades.

I like what you are going for with your army, and I know the foliage point has been made in spades, but I have a suggestion that you may or may not like.
When I was trying to Cam-up my Speacial weapon squads I decided to make ghilli-suits. It was so easy. Just lay a conservitive amount of Green stuff at the shoulders of the model , then work it down with a knife. Add 3-4 dull shades and colours , and make sure the face and some other parts of the model are seen so as too not have it look like an indistinguishalbe blob on the table. This also avoids bulking the model up too much. Just a suggestion that I found worked for me....
I agree that you should'nt have to pay the points just to have your troops look like vets, and camoliene cloaks are only an option, not the end-all-be-all in stealth.
I am reserving all judgement on your Dog until the final product is done, (nothing looks like its suppoosed to until you put the tools down, right?). I like the base you've choosen for it.
I think a Punisher tank may be the good model for a Jungle based army, provided you do some work on terrain modifications for it. However, let me say this:
As a soldier who has worked in recce for close to 13 years I have been on too many patrols to count. When we were being Overt, sure a vehicle behind us was an asset for firepower, protection and ,sometimes, just for the intimidation factor .
However, when we were being Covert, (as I suspect your army would be trying to do often as they surround the enemy and get into good firing positions), the last thing we wanted was a big, noisey ,tracked vehicle anywhere near us. It defeats the purpose of caming up and being sneaky. If we need big firepower, we call in fast air or artillary.
So maybe some Basilisks/ Griffons/ medusa's would be better suited for your guys. Even Valkeries and Vultures, if you feel like shelling out some $$$$.
Sentinals would also be a good thing.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

It's supposed to be my buddy from Iraq, the crap hit the fan one afternoon and he kept getting hit in the face by flying shrapnel and stuff. Damn guys face bled all day.
@worldwarme: Yeah, I agree the tanks make a lot of noise, unfortunately my friend has a Manta. There's no chance I'm going to survive without like...I don't know a crap ton of heavy firepower. And he's just one corner of the table, Calgar and his ultramarines are usually prowling around and if I'm having a really bad day traitor guardmen lead by a bunch of Khorne Berserkers turn my gaunts into god-chow. As for what happens with the rest of the guys, we'll see. I'm planning over 200 guards easily, so if some of em are just gonna be fuzzy thats just the breaks.

Haven't made any yet, I've played my friend's IG and I probably won't be bothering with anything but the Astropath until this hits around 3 or 4k, which may be a while. Today I'm taking a stab at making a zone trooper since nothing papercraft is allowed on our table =/. House rules, if you want to field it you have to build it.

On the bright side of your ghillie IG is that if your opponent can't see them, or overlooks them they might survive until the next round, where you slowly move them (just like in real life with a ghillie) across the board with slight nudges and bumps and to be sure the don't move over 6". I pulled this tactic with my ghillie scouts in planet-strike and my friend didn't see them until they were picking off targets inside his fortress. The trick is to offer him something to eat, or pull some sort of distractions while you are moving them (i turned on the TV in for our game, he was too busy watching johnny bravo to notice) I wouldn't suggest this for more competitive games though since some consider it dishonest. Also a matching field helps too, i loaded mine with trees and bushes using clump foliage and i bunched them around those.
