Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

The pistol is just some shaped green stuff on the tip after I cut the front off. I'd go plasma but after I played 'nids for years blowing your self up seems so passe`.
Yeah the pics aren't great. I've got to play with stuff some more tomorrow.
The flesh is Tallarn flesh with dwarf flesh and then elf flesh drybrushed on top, followed by a wash of Higgins' Eternal (Indian Ink). After years of looking like a fool I started reading here and learned to get a micron pen.

Alright, here's the new test photo from today. I think it turned out a little bit fairer. Forward are the photos from yesterday that didn't upload.
Everything for at least this squad is planned to have little gray stuff scopes. Depending on how time consuming it is, t may take me longer to generate a little base mold than just to do them by hand. I'm kind of working towards a more halo sight than a tube/box scope, I'm not sure if I like the current one making it look like a spaz12 or not. Also it gives it kind of a spetnaz/kreig look from above. I guess Ill have to put some halo sights on someone
I think I need to play some more with the camera. Something I did today (and I think I know what) started to show little purple dots where it's black that mess with the photos when you zoom in. It might be just just a change in a setting, or my suspicion is it's seeing the watered down Higgins' Indian Ink when it's set correctly ><
My job gives me 2 days a week off so we'll see if I can't get something moving, I know one of them is probably going to get eaten pinning and gluing together a PP Carnivean. He seems quite warhammer fantasy dragon-esque (I think there's 15 parts; he's got a ton of weight above the abdomen joint) and I learned to pin those the hard way. "Strong gust of wind again, Hal?" Alright, on with the show.
Im wondering if he isn't going to get some sort of plasticard/graystuff large handle aparatus and some sort of halo sight as well. On second though maybe a little undermounted camera and a lcd display.
The real WIP.
And today's work. I've decided the leading shoulder definately needs some more work. Man that camera really lets you see everything =/
The Dakka artiles on photos helped a little, but what I really tried today was from http://www.twfigurines.de/main/workshop/photos.htm.

Freaky, I think you should go a little lighter on the foliage, as it detracts from the minis.

It's basically a test squad working on theorycraft.
Circa 1992 as the Soviet Union fell, the guys of the Soviet Backyard were sent out into the world to run spec op/ wargames with members of other eastern and western countries. Apparently after a year or two there was a general consensus that everyone was afraid of the russians. Their uniforms were considered kinda not-camo/ugly and wrong when you saw them pressed, but because of that out in the field their guys used their uniforms as the basis for homemade gillie suits. There's stories about men getting withing 40 feet of whole squads out in the woods before they realized guy was dead ahead in a bush and they were in the sights. Also the Russian's were supposedly unparalleled at mountain/jungle fight. Anywhere there were rockslides and boulders and very uneven terrain the soviets apparently were invisible.
I'm going to go all out at least on this squad, I've drawn plans for all sorts of weird stuff I want to do.

I actually don't mind the foliage. They're jungle IG, and they've gone above and beyond simply painting everything olive green. The way they adapt to their battlefield is good, I like it a lot. Keep up the good work!

Just some more WIP. I think my goal is going to be to finish one guy a day, atleast with all the foliage on 'em glued in place and a scope of some sort added to the gun. I made this scope today in about 15 minutes including throwing the first one away. Just lots of pressing with plasticard and a little poking with the lead from a standard .07 mechanical pencil. Highly doable. Im still trying to figure out a good scheme for painting up the front of the scopes themselves. The way these things usually work I just keep working on them until one day I go, oh that looks good.
ed. and I just smushed it, d'oh
2. Alright an hour and a couple more tries and I believe the number 2 pencil is my new best friend. Pics when I have the time. New stuff looks good.

I have always wanted to experiment with a sniper covered in foliage. The first example is superb and the camo scheme looks great!
I'll agree that some of your guard (the grenade launched gunner, especially) have too much foliage. easy fix though.

This was kind of a preposition model. In high school ( 8 years ago) I kept reading about how fish tank seaweed plastic pieces made great terrain (copughevenwhtedwarfraved) and looked good on models. I tried it for a while a couple years ago and it didn't look great, but it was at least doable. I had some laying around still and decided to stick it on there anyway (blame me pinning dragons) and well...it looked worse before I messed with it. So later stuff MIGHT have it, but that'd involve me buying more fish tank stuff (and then railroad flocking it and smothering it in PVA and painting), so we'll see (god help me if I get the fish tank stock before a white micron pen).
At least this look semi cool?

Took some pics before work. Reattached and painted the scope, and decided to change the green bolt holding the front baffeling on to a laser eye. You can probably not see it in picture 2.

These guys are great. The guy peeking around the tree is really fun, but the tree does seem a little large and in charge. Otherwise, I disagree with all the "too much foliage" comments. Those gillie suits can get very shaggy, especially if you make 'em right!

The vehicles are little more than plans, but yeah, they should be pretty tricked out. I sit around planning a lot at work. The chimeras will probably have some sort of snorkel that folds down and Im planning to do them with predator turrets w/ autocannons, and the back gun ports with no guns and plasticarded to look buttoned up. The chimer is considered to be a duck in game so Im really planning to go all out on them to make them look like they float just as well as they don't.
I've got the gundam kit to do a punisher with 4 small chainguns and a targetting eye where the leman cannon usually is. As a joke I want to do that up with a coaxial heavy stubber. Theres also plans in the works for an executioner or two and a couple vanquishers. Everything will probably have huge whip arials and tons of camo netting hanging from it. Im not really sure on a color scheme yet.
At the moment I'm working on a scratch built Half-Life 2 Dog mecha, with a twin linked lascannon from a razorback as his 'eye'. If it works out it should be pretty sweet, maybe a touch shorter than 3", because he'll be on all 4s as opposed to standing.
As for all the foliage, I've played IG before, and honestly I'd like for all my models to be vets like I know people do. However being a veteran of the huge 4 person 5000 point games me and my friends play on maps with all sorts of DIY rules and weird stuff going on, I know for me the vets aren't worth it. I feel WAAAY better off just going with basic 4 point guardsmen, 3 points a model just to go to BS 4 doesn't help me kill avatars/wraithbone...or demon princes...or land raiders...or god help me a baneblade and 7 tanks on my left and a harridan and bio titan to my right...well you get the idea. When me and my friends all lived in the same building we were playing a game a week, one of the armies was IG, and it's just my experience.
So the long and short of it is they're going to look like theyre vets in camoline or whatever, but Im not paying 10 points a model.
