Did you do the same for the Hellguns if not how did you make them. Also out of interest why don't you use an Inquisitor in your Inquisitor themed guard army?

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

The Hell guns are made in a similar way, i cut the top off the rifle and add on a length of plasti card, smoothing off the edges, again effective but easy to do.

As for using Inq's, i am, just suggesting how to build the army within the IG rules. not that im planning on playing the army, more interested in getting it looking impressive.

Mate this stuff is epic!

Massive characterful Guard. /jealous. I wish I could paint as well as you do. The Storm Trooper conversions kick massive butt, and the rest of the normal troops are so individual! Brilliant.

I think us Brits make the best Guard armies

One thing, how do you do the Prone Heavy Weapons OP's?

Cheers.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

The prone heavy bolter team was quite simple really, a lot like most of my conversions, mostly because i'm lazy. The legs of both are very slightly mod'ed plastic legs from cadian kit the heads are from forgeworld and the bolter is from the cadian heavy team but was choped and plasticarded quite abit.

I have been painting the Vet srgt up and have changed my painting technic, i now feel alot happier with the finish of the fabrics, i will prob go over the other minis at some point.

really want to get the command squad and 1 vet squad done, just so i can paint up the Inq Rex mini, i have also been thinking of sculpting my own Inq at some point.

I will get some pics up tomorrow.

The brass is OK to work with, just make sure to go easy on the glue and use a pair of needle nose tweezers.

Found a new camera to use, Sony Cyber-shot 8.1mp, charged the batt but cant find the cable. Gonna go have a rumage and get some better shots up.

Sorted the camera now,

I reckon the pics are better, but maybe a little bright,

Great stuff, I look forward to seeing this as an army.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Thanks for all the replies. Nice to know people are reading/looking through this blog, i will try to update with something every other day, or when ever i can. Im off work for a couple of weeks so should get a fair bit done, if real life doesn't get in the way too much.

The troopers/Storm troopers are not Elyssian Forgeworld Drop Troops, but i have used the heads for the storm troopers. i do use quite abit of forgeworld stuff along with GWS bitz and scratch built/sculpted, it gives a good variety of parts and poses to an army.

As for the pants 'Gretar' - How do the pants?

Basicaly i start with a solid coat of Dheneb Stone made up of several thin coats - many thin coats is always best, it keeps the minis detail/texture and builds up a solid colour, takes longer but is worth it, this applies even more when using GW foundation paints.
Next wash with Devlan Mud
Now paint the main areas with Dheneb stone, making sure to keep out of the shaded areas - Keep the paint thin.
Build the highlights up by mixing more and more Skull white into the Dheneb stone.
Finish with quite a pale mix to highlight the highest folds in the fabric very thinly.

You cant really see the last highlights in the pics as they are quite bright.

Hope that helps and i haven't taught anyone to suck eggs.

Awesome poses on your guardsman, so individual and dynamic, makes me wish I had spent more time on mine.
It's good to see another guard based inquisitorial army, I think it's more realistic to see a "battle" inquisitor with his own army trained in his own tactics and kitted out with the best gear than travelling with just a small group of henchmen and trying to find an army when he needs it.

This is shaping up to be a fantastic blog and don't worry, with your painting skills you aren't teaching anyone to suck eggs!

cheers

Not really off theme, but not guardsmen.

I have been a little distracted from the troopers and have been working on their heavy support.
