You know what's even more akward? The look on peoples' faces when you explain that the Nazi coin collection you have was given to you by your German Grandpa after he moved to Canada. Well, okay more like 50 years after he moved to Canada, but you get it

Isnt that Aquila the same as the roman one?

I have to say this post has been one of my favs of all time!! So many of these I find myself nodding my head on and laughing.

I strongly believe my biggest pet peave is the "pro painted" one. I see so much crap on ebay that is "pro painted" but discovered that there is actually an old paint line called pro painted.

I do what the voices in my wifes head say...

Oh - one more peeve for me would be kids that use their age as an excuse for terrible spelling and grammar.

"Sry Im 13" is -not- a valid reason as to you spell like you're 2 years old. Don't say it.

People who cant help themselves and start wishlisting in rumour threads....and the nimrods who later pass that wishlisting of as a rumour. Have seen it a million times.

People who believe that a picture of their latest model, placed on a ratty cutting mat with a monitor and a slew of paintpots in the background, using the phonecamera under fluorescent lighting, is a good idea.

People who cannot be bothered to use simple punctuation and capitals, and thinks just pouring your thoughts into writing makes for good reading.

People who don't direct link pictures. I hate having to press a link and then finding it is to slow-ass Photobucket...and the picture sucks.

I hate people who rant...wait, what?

Nerd posturing.
Whenever a girl walks into a GW store. I quite often pop into my local store with the girlfriend to pick up paint or other bits and bobs it amazes me the amount of grown men (I use the term loosly) who actualy stare, whisper to their mates and then decide to shout at each other about the game they are playing or what they did at roleplay last Tuesday. It's embarasing, and it apparently is worse when she goes in on her own.

Pro-painted.
Please don't kid yourself, unless you work for 'Eavy metal or have won a Golden Deamon, it isn't pro-painted, and half of the miniatures advertised as this look like they were painted by a monkey wearing oven gloves. I hate it when people try to advertise an item as something which it clearly isn't.

Know it alls.
You have all met the type. Smelly, ugly, overwieght and over-opinionated, they lurk around the gaming tables or worse still the book shelves and delight in picking upon any slight error a player may make regardless of if it is a rule or a piece of fluff. Grow up and have a shower

People who answer rules questions without providing reference. Or better yet just disregards the question, "I can't seem to find the rule that allows a squad to assault the passengers whose transport is destroyed. Can you help me?"
Answer; "Yes, you can assault the unit". *Facepalm*

I know this is a joke, but...

My Dakka Dakka’s Pet Peeve is when a member in the middle of a thread complains about a previous poster’s spelling and/or grammar, but saying nothing about the topic, just the rant. Never noticing the fact the person could be under age and hasn’t been taught or that the person is from another country that their primary language or even their secondary language isn’t English. Makes me think about the people that visit a foreign country and believe if they speak very loud and repeat themselves many times, maybe the person will eventually understand English.

If I find a post that is a train wreak and difficult to read, I stop reading it and move on to the next topic. Remember people, Dakka’s Rule number one is be polite, Ranting for three paragraphs on how much smarter you are on reading and writing English is not we are here to read about. If we want to get more people playing tabletop games, we need to welcome the new people, help them accordingly, correct them on spelling, math or what ever and not make a big deal about it. Then answer their questions that they came to Dakka in the first place.

I can't stand people who throw their dice during games. If you can't keep your cool during something that should be fun, pack up your stuff and don't waste my time.

I hate that one guy who is watching you play and has to narrate what's happening on the board. Like, guy, I know you love the game as much as I do, but I'm playing in the game you're telling me about. Yes, he did pass his armor save, but he didn't drop his gun to brush his shoulder off where the bullet bounced off.

I also despise power gamers. If you're playing solely to win, then we will not be playing.

Yep, not to mention against the rules.

Couple pet peeves:

Someone questioning why you're doing something or building your list a certain way, with a smirk on their face, as if they already have an answer loaded as to why their way is better.

-and-

Someone sitting at the edge of the board, not playing, just watching, spouting out rules. Not even important rules. "Hey, what's the side armour of your Leman Russ?" I ask. "13," my opponent sighs as the guy at the table edge cries out, "13!"
