About this hobby in general.

Something which really gets on my wick about eBay, people who make stuff up in their item titles. For instance, the amount of stuff with "Rogue Trader" put in it that isn't RT era, and there's no point in feigning innocence, some of these "rogue trader" things are models only made in the last few years, not the 80s. And ther other? Putting "OOP" in stuff to get attention. That annoys me too, and it's not a case of poor research I've just seen something listed as "Brand New OOP". Yeah whatever.

I recently bought an unopened still shrink-wrapped starter box for Epic 40k. The game is OOP. I could have lived with it being listed as brand new OOP because it really kind of was/is. Just saying.

Otherwise, I know what you're feeling. Don't forget professionally painted is code for paid my little brother to primer them (hey, I paid to have it done therefore "professional", right?)

The way people misuse the apostrophe. This constant use of the possessive for the plural, or the plural for the contraction, really drives me crazy.

I saw a food truck the other day. They offered "taco's, burrito's, and chalupa's." I went up the them and asked, "Taco's what? What are you selling that belongs to Taco? Does Chalupa know you are selling her stuff?"

When I see a thread title that uses the word "mini's" instead of "minis," I grind my teeth.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Entering the local GW store and happening upon some redshirt trying to sell the idea of deamonic possession, flesh-eating bio-constructs and endless carnage to unsuspecting mothers and their attendant 11-year olds...

It will always make me cringe.

Oh I see you point, OOP but in brand new condition. Except this was being applied to the latest releases, I saw it being put on the Space Hulk novel before it was even officially relased!

I've given up on "pro-painted", I know there's a lot of argument as to what pro-painting actually is, but to me a professional painter can actually paint well.

This Guy:

You declare a charge, then measure. It's close, but it looks in to you. This Guy says "my angle's weird, are you sure? It doesn't look in to me..." You say "I think it's in, but let's have someone else take a look." You call over Neutral Third Party, who takes a look, and says "Oh yeah, it's in. No problem." So You look at This Guy for confirmation, and he shrugs, leans back, and says: "Ok, I'll let you have it"

And then, after it's over, and you win, This Guy says "Yeah, that was rough... I shouldn't have given you that one charge, that got you the win. Good game though."

So, yeah... That Guy is a pet peeve.

And my own wildly inconsistent dicing, of course.

OOP can mean "out of packaging" as well. That's a common term for star wars figures and the like. But they are probably going for "out of production" with regards to 40k postings.

A pet peeve of mine is strangers touching my models without asking. I've only had one kid grab one of my models while playing a game at a store, and I immediately saw red. I calmly asked him to put it down. However, I spend a lot of time removing flash, basing, converting, and painting a lot of my models. To see 6+ hours of work in a strangers hands who never asked permission makes me madder than a 1 legged man in a butt kicking contest.

Anything a red shirt has ever said to me.

Places that require personal information just to make a purchase( such as game crazy).

People who are uneducated on a topic and yet insist they are right even when disagreeing with an expert on said topic.

Black balling distributers so that customers are forced to buy from your terrible stores(why even bother with third parties anymore GW?)

And lastly but most importantly, non critical thinkers.

Out of game peeve: people using "a ton" or "tons" as a synonym for "a lot" or "many".

My pet peeve is the continued marginalization of Specialist Games stuff. If I could buy BFG things from a FLGS or even a GW store without mail order related hassles, my sum total of GW-minis purchases since I emigrated to the States in 2003 would be more than AoBR and a Box of Tau Fire Warriors...

I have a buddy that plays like this. My favorite from him is:

Him: "Yea but you only won because your Las Predator killed my Carnifex."

Me: "And that makes it a cheap win... how?"

Him: "Whatever. I would've won if I stuck to the left. I think you're over your points anyway."

*I total up my points, showing that we're both within the 1500 margin, and he's actually higher than myself*

Him: "Meh. You just had lucky rolls. I don't think your actual strategy was very good."

Me, in my head: "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU-"

He also refuses to play a game unless we let him use the 3rd Ed Codex for his Tyranids, even though we're all using 5th Ed Rules and Codi. Damnit I wish therewere more local players.

Also: People that tell others that they to improve their painting skills when their own stuff looks far worse than what they're criticizing.

Haha. Yes I abosulutely hate the way people judge as soon as they see warhammer. Some of my friends find Warhammer to be a nerdy geek game however they are playing Yu-Gi-Oh in highschool... needless to say I dont hang out with them anymore... I do however keep all my Wargaming stuff in a different room for when people come over... although its also mainly because I needed more space.

I doubt that Valk's concern was so much that people think it's nerdy as it is they think he's a Nazi, what with the big silver Aquilia and all. Even though the Nazi Aquilia had only one head, people can be stupid like that.
