That is Unconfirmed, even though the evidence is 99% to suggest that, think the OJ trial, it can still go the other way. However until the necrons can free the void dragon if that is indeed what it is, they will put terra second to mars, & Mars is no easy nut to crack, which is why I must place them below the tyranids.

It was basically, BASICALLY confirmed in the Horus Heresy book Mechanicum. Though I agree that there's always a possibility.

On a side note, OJ was proven guilty first. And now where is he? Oh yeah, guess that first case didn't matter much, did it?

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

if they ever unite, yes but it is fairly easy to stop a waagh that threatens terra.

Step one: Assasinate da warboss
Step two: Let orks fight each other over who da next warboss iz
Step three: butcher said orks.

If it's so easy, why is Ghazghkull still alive?

Oh, right. Because he's a ton and a half of green-skinned DEATH wrapped in win, covered with awesomesauce. Any Imperial Assassin that tried to kill Ghazghkull would end up a skull on his trophy pole.

Eversor; Jumps out behind Ghazghkull, screams WRRYYYYYYY and then gets headbutted across the camp.

Vindicare; Shoots Ghazghkull in the head. A lot. Leaves when he runs out of ammunition. Ghazghkull is annoyed.

Culexus; First off he's probably detected from way the hell out, because he's disrupting the Waagh! But if not, he pops out, charges at Ghazghkull and gets his head ripped off and slam-dunked through the nearest hoop.

Callidus; Jumps out from disguise, gives Ghazghkull a cut, and he crushes her face. Then he has Grotsnik staple the cut together and goes back to what he was doing.

If Ghazghkull took it into his head to attack Terra, I would give him about even odds of getting into the system and establishing a foothold somewhere. Would he win? Nah. He couldn't "win" on Armageddon, and Terra will be a hell of a lot better defended. But he could smash the system up pretty well before he was kicked out, and get spores down on the major worlds, which would make the next invasion a lot easier.

Because he is not a threat to terra & the thousands of millions of guardsmen & indeed the armageddon system are disposable so long as they keep him away from the emperor & planets deemed more valuable.

Why risk losing your best most higly trained, equipped & experienced assasins on an Ork who's been stalled by the meatgrinder known as the IG?

Its simple Imperial Logic, He's stalled & as such not a major threat, the asassins might be more useful elsewhere. Beside who said any of the assasins would attack alone?

Fluff-wise, Armageddon is one of the most valuable systems in the Imperium. . . or it was, until it was wrecked by the Orks.

And no, Ghazghkull isn't "stalled". He's not on Armageddon anymore. Last anybody knows, he was rampaging around the sector however he pleased. Who knows where he'll go next?

Exactly it WAS, but it is vastly lower than Terra.

As far as rampaging around the sector that's fine again still no direct threat to Terra.

If it comes down to it, the orks would need a total blockade in orbit on a planet as I assume Ghazzy likes to fight on the ground. I wouldn't put it past the imperium to force a capital ships (or two, three ect.) reactors to overload/meltdown & Ram it into the planet before risking the loss of Terra.

It wouldn't be done lightly, those damn things are expensive but given the alternative it would be done gladly.

Id say, IF a warboss was tough enough, the Orks for sure, but Ill be realistic and say that would never happen.

Chaos came DAMN close once before, so itd be laughable to say they couldnt

Tyranids, if they went deep enough into the Imperium, could, simply because they are a steamroller with enough biomass.

I really dont think the Eldar/Dark Eldar wouldnt even come close. They arnt a threat anymore. The Eldar of old possibly.

Necrons...... Ill say maybe, but we need to really know more about their fluff to give a better answer. Are they really JUST the original planets worth of Necrontyr? Or can they assimilate like the borg? Not too sure.

IF the Vid Dragon could be awoken I would say that the Necrons would have a chance to at least indirectly cause Terra's Fall.

If the Void Dragon woke up hungry it could possibly destroy many of the Mechanicus' most holy relics and ancient Tech.

Lead to a Huge schism in The AdMech ranks.

Either way it destabelizes the Admech which support the Segmentum fleets. Without the Admech having easy availability to refurbishing tech many of the starforts/ship could become derelict and easier prey for the necrons or whoever comes by later

Obviously I have a bias here in case it showed

I'm thinking all the races could do it but very few would be bothered..

The whole C'Tan that's trapped on Mars by the Emperor was an inspirational bit of fluff, especially considering the whole back story it.. (Mechanicum HH series)

The Tyrs for defo would be able, aswell as CSM and Necro..
Tau would be hard pressed to take out a hive world let alone get past the Sol system defence..
Orks could do it, if they combined together..
Eldar are too low on the chain to directly assault Terra, even with the aid of the phoenix lords, harlequins, druchaii etc

Cease struggling so I can shoot you in the head Heretic

For some reason I always got the impression that, for the moment, the Void Dragon is rather content where he is. Sleeping a few thousand years is nothing to his kin. Given his affiliation with machines (and the limited bits I've read of the HH book) I think he could be sitting, watching, waiting, and gathering as much knowledge as he could via the tech-priests covering the planet. If it came to a full scale necron awakening then he may even be able to influence some of the Ad Mech over to aid him provided the Sol system wasn't the immediate target.

Unlikely, I know, but I find it an interesting angle to toy with.

My money's on the necrons. As far as I know, they've already managed to send a scouting party so far as the Terran system, which is more than I can say for the Eldar and Orks, and considerably better than what the Ruinous Powers managed in the last hundred centuries.

Orks.
They probably have more ships than the Imperium has people. They're also outside of the galaxy as well. If they were to all gather in one big Waaaagh they would probably take over the 40k galaxy. But then without the Emperor chaos would probably slip out everywhere and then it will be Orks vs Daemons.

The necrons don`t even need to attack Terra directly the C`tan could just eat the sun and there goes most of Terra`s defences.
There would be survivors, those that are in spaceships, but with no proper command system or defence they necrons could just walk on in and finish off the survivors.
