If Chaos could honestly get their act together, and I mean seroiusly get its act together (Every single last renegade/cultist) they could do it again.

Well, they were repelled, sure, but I think that Abbaddon's not trying hard enough/lacks the simple intelligence that Horus did.

The problems I see with the Orks is that they are so undisciplined. They might end up fighting each other in an all out Klanwar, or might actually break as the entirety of the Imperium's vast warmachine smashes down.

I have a couple questions. How are the Tau going to make it all the way to terra?

Why would the Eldar sacrifice so many of their dwindling numbers on such a task?

Tau simply couldn't.

Hail to the creeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!baby Ask not the moot a question, for he will give you three answers, all of which will result in a public humiliation.

There's no way the Tau could even stand a chance against Terra. Heck, in their own fluff, there's no way they can deal with even a large fraction of the Imperium if they ever decided to wage war against them. The only reason they aren't completely annihilated as it is right now is because the Imperium doesn't view them as a major threat, so there's no point in wasting resources against them. They just don't have the massive numbers or super technology to deal with Terra's defenses.

If any race has the power to deal with Terra, it's going to be the Tyranids. Orks aren't organized enough to do it - all the Imperium needs to do is take out the Warboss and the rest of the Waaagh! will fall apart. While Chaos is a strong bet, I think the Space Marines are too good a counter to them. The Space Wolves were essentially designed to fight the CSM, and with even a few other chapters helping out, Chaos doesn't stand a chance. Even when they were united under Horus, they were repelled, and now they're all split up into worship of the four Chaos Gods.

Tyranids have the sheer numbers (Even one full Hive Fleet could challenge Terra - imagine if two happened to drift towards there) and they certainly have the unity and leadership (Under the Synapse) to do it. Plus, they have the nastiest, most powerful bugs known to man, and if a whole bunch of them attacked Terra, they would stand a chance. Or if not them, then whatever's chasing them.

Why even ask that question rocklord? as far as I know no one here said Tau would/could do it....

Locclo the orks have a better chance....Tyranids have been defeated before, last I checked however(and I could be wrong) once orks are on a planet the only cure is to burn the planet. That would mean either the Imperium must burn Holy Terra or deal with Orks for eternity. <- not that it's very hard....

Also...what do you mean.... what's chasing Tyranids?

If necrons wanted to they could take it now. There ships are just too fast. They don't use the warp so they could just appear strip terra clean then dissappear. The only reason they don't is because they haven't is because they are waiting for something.

They mention it in the new codex, although it's kind of doubtful that it's the actual reason they're here. My friends and I all want to think that something big is chasing the Tyranids, and whatever forced them out of their home must be fearsome.

"They have travelled through the bleak intergalactic space between galaxies for countless millennia. Whether the Tyranids made this perilous journey because they had already consumed everything of worth in their home galaxy or in flight of another, even more fearsome race is unknown."

Grots are already what the Tyranids are running away from.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

In all truthfulness I think if chaos can get into the black library somehow then they would destroy the galaxy in a matter of weeks with all of the most powerful physic powers in one place chaos would destroy everything.

Personally I think the necrons or nids. The is no doubt there is a creature under the surface of mars which the necrons seemingly worship, it has not been implied, but literally said there is a 'dragon' under mars. Event then, if the necrons were to awaken and launch an assault on the imperium(think hundreds, if not thousands, of world engines[see space marine codex]) they would not fare well at all. If the nids were to all to show up, terra wouldnt stand a chance(think battle of maccrage but with infinite number of nids)

Ok time for Demonslayer to have his two words......

The Tyranids:Most likely candidates to kick terra into next Tuesday basically biomass and numbers are on their side as the Octavius War clearly surmised the Tyranids are good at attrition. The Imperium have not got a smidgen of understanding about the Tyranids they are on what? page 5 id say where there are millions of pages and chapters to be written on how this apex predator functions. The Hive Mind would be constantly churning out evolutionary terrors to break the Imperiums back and once the shadow of the warp kicks in then its goodbye reinforcements Terra would be isolated and weak the only thing going in the defenders favour is that the Hive Fleet drifts and would take ages to get there so a sizable defence could be mounted.
The Orks: as previously stated the Ork Clans fragmented as they are have proved on numerous occasions what they are capable of when they act cohesively Armageddon has been twice proven as a template abeit a small one on what orks do when they get the single minded will to put their minds to something what they lack in brains they make up in brawn.Plus Ragnaork is coming and its target yes you guessed it.....Earth
Tau:No warp tech so no getting to Terra plus Operation Hammerfall is set to smash aside the third sphere expansion and level out the status quo in the Damocles sector.
Necrons: Not for a while yet but if they did then the terror they would produce on such a planetary war as would be raged on Terra would be phenomenal
Eldar: Why Would they

And then we get to Chaos Abaddon could have suceeded where Horus failed on so many occasions but he focus's to much on Vendettas and petty squabbles both in internal and external. The man has had Creed in his sights so many times and failed to kill him so why would he have the ability and will to pull together the 4 Legions again as I doubt they would ever bend to his will a second time I forsee Abaddons days numbered soon unless he can end the stalemate in the Cadian Sector.

Plus fortress Cadia was under the predatations of Hive Fleet Hydra recently if memory serves properly.

changing my answer. If the Emperor should be defeated in the warp, every human would become a gateway for the daemons of chaos. thusly Id say chaos has the best chance of taking out terra.

I'm a Tyranid fan, and reading through their fluff it seems that they're pretty much innumerable and won't stop until all the bio-mass has been absorbed. All the forces of the galaxy will probably keep fighting each other while the Nids devour their way towards Terra & other faction's strongholds.

The Eldar are the only ones capable of fully escaping the Tyranids I think, since they're craftworlds can actually move & they could leave the galaxy. (Until the Tyranids reach such a mass that they cover almost the entire universe.)

They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them, and in the furnace of war forge them. They will be of iron will and steely muscle. In great armour shall I clad them and with the mightiest guns will they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease, no sickness will blight them. They will have tactics, strategies and machines so that no foe can best them in battle. They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear.

yep, it's 'nids for me. orks are too disorganised, eldar are pretty much wiped out, tau just couldn't, they're too little a threat, and chaos couldn't when they were joined by horus- now they are split into the 4 chaos gods without horus, i don't think they could do it. the tyranids would just keep on adapting and making biomass until they have developed the right tactics and weapons to wipe out the universe, until they die because there is no-one left to devour, and they will die. then life shall restart back to microbes.

Chaos, if Cadia was overrun then legions of chaos marines and daemons could pour through the eye of terror, perhaps with enough force to assault Terra, Abbadon could finally avenge Horus

I wanna say Tyranids but not at the stage they are at now, maybe a few Hive Fleets down the line and they'll make it there but Leviathan won't make it, let alone take it down. Or perhaps Abbadon gathering more csm and sacking the Sol System
