Yeah, but $60 to play as a ::hurrrr:: Space marine? Awesome-sauce....Reserved at the FLGS.

$60 for what is probably a decent sized, hardback book with excellent artwork and binding?

Yeah. If I were into Dark Heresy I'd buy it.

While I admit I find the possibility of playing in a campaign as a member of a Space Hulk boarding party awesome, wouldn't this get kinda boring after a while? I mean you're a Space Marine after all, you can end every single encounter by just being in the same room as your enemy, since, being a Space Marine, their brains explode in fear if they so much as know you're coming.

What exactly where you expecting when you saw the title of this thread?

A chance to RPG as a Hrud?

Come on now!

Speaking of...

Isn't the Deathwatch RPG supposed to add a buttload of harder enemies to the game? I'm not too up on what critters you can face in it, but isn't it mostly balanced for Inquisitors/Rogue Traders now?

There's your answer!

I'd like to get in a campaign... where I was a Deathwatch Librarian!

Sadly, I don't think there's a group in my area...

The price tag makes it that much more grimdark.

This looks sweet. I can't decide between Techmarine or Tactical Marine.

I wish Veteran Scout Sergeant was an option though.

Oh bugger off. The "Marines are everywhere" whining is so beyond pointless these days I'm amazed people still go on about it.

As far as 'getting boring' goes... it's an RPG. The game is what you make it. If it's boring it's either your fault for not having the imagination to RP a Space Marine or the GM's fault for making a boring plotline.

I dunno, like I said, I find the idea of roleplaying as part of a Space Hulk boarding party awesome. Great opportunity to piss everyone off by quoting or making references to Aliens every two minutes.

Looks very cool. I have no real interest in roleplaying 40K, but I've been very tempted by FFG's books simply because they're pretty...

I can guess 4 of them!

Ultramarines, Dark Angels, Space Wolves and Blood Angels!

Beyond that, I'd guess one more 'known' and probably a 'Made Up for this RPG'!
Five chapters will be of GW origin and are those Chapters that everybody can connect with or burst into a reviled nerdrage over.

Yes, this would be the perfect excuse to finally make that over the top Wolf or Angel.

Hope that there is enough info on the enemies of the Ordo Xenos to make them somewhat playable. Otherwise I am not interested in an RPG where every single character PWNS Chuck Norris

warboss wrote:$60 for a single book? i know it's the grimdark future but for that price, it'd better come with a happy ending...

I imagine its hard to find a decent publishing price and still make a profit.

That said, I agree. I just bought a Claustrophobia 3 days ago which is a complete game, for $65. Immense production qualities, VERY well sculpted and prepainted miniatures and tha game is tons of fun logging in 9 hours of play time in those 72 hours.

I understand its not tangibly what you get out of a product to make it enoyable, but $60 for a rule book is steep. Hell, $40 is steep.

I guess I am not hip with the times since my last roleplaying books were from White Wolf and I paid $35 for a thick hardbound copy of Vampire the masquerade. Granted, that was over a decade ago.

Its very much a self fulfilling prophecy with such fringe publications. Have to charge a certain amount to make a profit on a print run of X copies. Copies dont sell as well as they may want so in order to do so again, more has to be charged, less will be sold, etc.

I'm fairly sure that the Deathwatch don't have Terminators, unless they've changed something.

I think they induct people with Terminator *Honors*, but not the Terminator armour itself.

This may actually bring me out of my 10 year retirement from roleplaying.

I wouldn't mind running a campaign.

Maybe centered on orks so i can get double duty out of my models and see my Warboss used as a mani antagonist in RPG form...

And when the time comes that you must fulfil your most solemn oath, speak clearly, speak proudly, speed the bolt that brings his end and send him joyous to the Emperor’s side. Then do your duty, take that which is due, and know your mission is done.”

That's actually pretty damn well written. I'd skip the "joyous" part but otherwise much better than I expected.

Yes, yes they do, with a picture on the website to show it.

The myth that Deathwatch does not have/use Terminators is just that, myth. Besides, there is a termie in DW armor on the site.
