Oh, I think that despite the downplaying of it as toy soldiers (which it is, of course), there'll probably be quite a few people eager to listen into a live podcast of matches between the likes of stelek and dash.

While brazenly egotistical in approach, I think Dash is aware of this, and soliciting input largely for the theatrics of building interest.

I'm the guy organizing it, and I have no beef ... as long as it stays friendly and affable at the point of things. After reading a lot of the diatribe between BBF and Dash, they're not going to get paired off in some live high profile match ... too much heat. I think that there's really not much on the personal side, though, b/tween Stelek and Dash ... so that's more amenable to me ... if it's amenable to BOTH of them of course

Dont worry about it... just like these guys you too can be a celebrity in your own mind! All it takes is a few years of building yourself up by spouting off on forums, and all of a sudden you are an expert in your field.

Nahhhh, I'll never be a 'celebrity'. I've never finished higher than 5th in a GW US GT, and I've only been in the top ten 5 or 6 times over the years. I did get 2nd Best General at Baltimore one year, but alas, only 2nd......... And always with IG, so I'm just a one trick pony kinda guy, I guess.

You're a celebrity to me, Don. You're one of only a couple of people to ever take me to town in a game

I really think it'd be great if you and/or a few of the other IFL guys wanted to head to head vs. the WC or another group in attendance. Could be a lot of fun, and we should have the room for it.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I don't consider myself as a 40k celebrity....but I know this:

1. I know Orks. Very well.

2. Stelek actively bashes Orks.

3. I defend Orks.

4. Stelek bashes me.

That brings us to settling it. If Stelek is right, he'll table me. If he's wrong....he won't table me. If I'm right, he'll lose. And I'll be happy to repeat as needed, as often as he needs me to beat on him until he learns to respect Orks. The only reason I'm known is because instead of ignoring bad advice, I step in and say something, and do my best to help other ork players. And most of the time, I don't sink down to the level of exchanging personal insults - there's some less than clever attempts in this thread, and they're lacking ork kunnin'. Which in itself is sad!

Yeah, but before the game, he tells you he's going to bring all sorts of awesome new stuff, then doesn't do anything at all for his first turn, then you find out he's not even a club member with a valid membership card...

I'd battle Stelek no matter what. This guy is absolutely weird. I wish you could give him a lesson.

BBF is just spreading pointless slander, with no ground, and he is not very well known.

Stelek is just spreading pointless hate, with no ground, but he is well known.

Get Stelek!

@ Mike

Since I can't play Dash I would like to opt for a match versus Hulksmash. He is a cool guy & a top player. I would enjoy the challenge & think it would be a fun game we can both enjoy.

All over the U.S.

Play BBF and find out the source of the problem. Stelek will be Stelek, no matter what happens in the game he will still be himself.

BBF on the other hand might net you some resolution to the problem. One way or the other you'll get to know who this individual is.

Stelek is a very good player with a solid GT record under his belt. I would put my wager on him if they play each other. To be honest I don't think Stelek would be interested, however you never know & I think he would have a lot people there rooting for him.

I have been asked by my club to steer clear of controversial matters so I am not going to get into an e-peen contest with anyone in this thread. I have seen some of the same old mud being slung again. It's not going to make anything better at hte end of the day.

While I'm not overly familiar with this Stelek individual, from a brief perusal of his site it seems he just tosses up theoretical lists he never intends to play (though some of the IG and SW ones look pretty good), grills the occasional tactical posts from other sites (mostly BoLs, and to be honest, most of those abortions deserve that and more), and generally nerd rages about how lame and worthless GTs are because their comp scores don't allow "awesome" players like himself excel. Where is this solid GT record coming from?

I remember Marc saying his game with Stelek was pretty tight. That alone tells me Stelek is good. You should be able to look up the scores from GW GTs on their website.

There's all that and such....my beef is mostly about him bashing on orks, and subsequently me. I just want him to be matched against Orks. I wouldn't trust anyone to pilot those orks as well as me, which is why I'd want the game, although I don't know many "extremely talented" ork players. Never seen Marc Parker in action, but if I had to blindly give the game to someone else to play it would be him since he at least won a GT with them a week or three ago.

I could only find the list of the top 30 for the 2008 'Ard Boyz, and he wasn't listed. I couldn't find any results for 2009 or 2010. However, since his blog was registered on April 2009, I did a brief perusal of the topic names and since there was no fist pumping (he got to the semi's in 2009 and then made no further mention, although I may have missed something in my cursory examination), I'm assuming he didn't place all too highly then either. He hasn't placed in any of the 2010 tournaments.

Out of the 11 listed GT tournaments in 2008, he participated in the Las Vegas event and placed 23 overall (tied for 16th on battle points). Doing so with Daemonhunters is particularly impressive; then again, 2008 was the year of Land Raider spam and that's the only thing Daemonhunters are good at. A good showing certainly, and props on full sportsmanship scores, but it doesn't strike me exactly as the results of a divinely-inspired individual as his fan-base seems to treat him. And just by the by, in case he really does claim Orks are terrible (as Dash implied earlier), they took first in that tournament by a significant margin, so he's obviously not the final authority on all things 40k either.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not dismissing the idea that the guy is a solid player (probably would kick my ass), but I'm just confused where all this notoriety and enormous ego is stemming from. Is it just another case of whoever is the loudest and most uncompromising winning the internetz?

I'm gonna guess that a team battle Dash/Hulk vs Stel/BBF would be out of the question.

I like the idea of Dash vs Stelek as well as Hulksmash vs Black Blow Fly. From what I have read in various forums, these would have a ton of interest as they do appear to be all strong players.

That said.. Maybe Dash vs Hulk and Stelek vs BBF?

The more important question you should ask yourself is, could you still roll dice after drinking a bottle of coconut rum? If not, wussy! All real men lose horribly er play incredibly well while being physically unable to stand! Explains my win/loss record anyway...

Modquisition on.
I am closing this thread. In DP's defense the topic was initially approved by me, but upon further review due to certain conflicts between posters that was probably not genius move #1 on my part. You are welcome to continue tht egood natured bantering and "hey lets me up talk" on the thread concerning the actual tourney.

My bad. (goes off to ban some random poster)
