I'm gettin a rhino 4 christmas and I would love to use that paint job on mine but with a few extra panels in red.

Also have you got or are getting a vindicator because I want to know if they are recomendedas a good thing to paint and if they are good on the battlefield!!!!

What colour is huron's face cus it looks like regal blue mixed with bleached bone or something but Im not that sure whatit actually is cus its looks AWESOME

I'm sorry, I didn't see this post until now.
I dont have any vindicators and don't plan on buying any until I finish more painting (I have a tendency not to finish things). Not sure if you got one yet but if you did, let me know how they field.
I'm not 100% sure what I painted his face with. I started with flesh colours and I think I added shadow grey to the mix, and highlighted by adding bleached bone.

On a side note, If anyone is interested I have created a WIP blog to help me finish things.

when i was at my local hobby store,we were talking about the RC fluuf and 1 guy said that the red corsairs work as contractors for other chaos armies and in return are granted weapons and vehicles. Is this true or not?

The RC are Pirates they take what they want or what they need. Me personally I don't believe that they worship Chaos. The fought Chaos while protecting the warp. I really dont see the RC going up to a chaos legion and "Um...Sorry about the last 1000 years or so... Let's be friends"

Your paintjob does rehabilitate it somewhat and the rest of your Corsairs look great, but I'd be kitbashing a custom Huron model instead of sticking yourself with that turd. Of course they're your models so do with them what you will.

I like the claw, the axe, the robotics. he's the reason I started the Red Corsairs. Mind you his stats are pretty weak!

I also like the FW one, I've think about buying him for a while now

Amazing job w/ the Corsairs! Very well done on the paint, etc. Looking for a few more recent crew members though, like a Dark Angel that hasn't changed his armor, merely painted a red X over his chapter symbol.

I fully agree that the Red Corsairs are *not* a Chaos force by any means and to that end I don't like the new model either. It looks like a Chaos Lord. It should be a 1/2 bionic Space Marine. Here's a conversion I did for Huron:



I made this in 1998 from the 2nd Ed CSM Codex. It was long before there was a model for Huron. It's not the greatest conversion I've ever done but it filled a need and I think it looks less "sinister" in a Chaos way.

If you like that model go for it, you've done a very nice job of it. To me he's just too scrawny and small to be a big scary chaos lord. According to fluff after the melta blast half of Huron's body was pretty much rebuilt with cybernetics and this model doesn't do that justice at all. I want a freaking cyborg with a heavy flamer! There's no way you'd guess that hole in the palm of his hand is supposed to be a flame weapon or that the wierdo claw was supposed to be a mechanical replacement.
If I didn't know who it was supposed to be I'd take the model for a possessed marine or some kind of zombie in power armor.
I also agree Red Corsairs shouldn't look "chaosy" (spikes, chaos arrows) and I'd like the model to look like a heavily augmented marine.
Maybe I'll build a conversion sometime and post it up for everyone to see, but to be honest there are a LOT of projects already on my bench.
As an afterthought, I really like the FW Luft Huron model... maybe that could be a starting point

So when you put it that way, the RCs can recriut any race that can think for themselves(like tau or eldar, and not tyrranids) correct? I understand that they don't worship any particular chaos god so i like to think of them as undivied followers as long as they are in the chaos codex, but would it make sense that they can summon demons? Because I just bought 6 furies as they dont have any obvious dedication to any god and they look badass.

You make a good point, and now I look at him, thats pretty much how I painted him like a zombie Chaos Lord.
Could it just be the Power armor? If he is cyborg do his implants have to be exposed? couldn't they just be covered by the Power armor. I really dont want to see a necron w/ hurons head on it.

I'm not sure if tau or eldar would work with Marines bbut I dont know much of their fluff
You can play you RC any way you choose. I'm not happy with the current Chaos Codex and I have switch them over to Space Wolves. As soon as a good Renegade Codex come out then I'll switch back

So it has been a very long time since I have completed a model, probably over a year. So I decided for New Years that I would finish a model a month. Sort of a motavation. Since this Blog is for completed models Its about time I posted one here. Dont get me wrong it is not like I have been doing nothing all year. The Red really pops. Yes it is very bright but I think works very well since they are Chaos. Great to see a different CSM army on here.

I never did get far with marine of the month. But I finished 3 marines in one year that must be some kind of record.

Nice to see this thread is still alive and kicking (haven't seen it in a while)!
Your Red Corsairs are truly amazing an I love the marine with the cowboy hat and glowing power maul, the hat is something different but works very well with the rest of the army.
Reading the new chaos codex it appears that they are trying to make out that Huron isn't a Chaos follower but they just put him there because having a villain to the Space Marines in the SM Codex wouldn't make sense.
Really well painted miniatures keep up the good work!
