I'd check out the battle report section. Look for battles involving Orks. See if anything clicks

http://www.imperiusdominatus.com/2010/05/orks-top-units.html Not the best article about ork units, but definately worth a squizz at.

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...

The 85 was his total cost. I can't give any more details about his cost because GW are fething pricks on that one.

Also with respect to advice remeber that there are two types of lists on these forums: Fun/Fluff and Competitive/Tournament.
I mostly think in terms of competitive lists, which are designed to win, regardless of how dull, boring and complex the army build is. Fun lists are just that; Fun, only you can really decide what is Fun for you to play with. Most of the advice people will post here is for competitive builds so keep that in mind when you ask for advice and they turn around start flaming you for not using one of the super-hardcore units like Complex Biker Nobz, Burna-Wagon or Snikrot BurnaKommandos.

Well when you put it like that then you do have a point, i want something Competitive/Tournament, if you loose all the time then thats not fun is it?

Thanks for the link i'll check it out now. And yes i will have to look a some battle reports.

Believe me when I say Competitive can get boring. I rarely use Fun lists because the only guy I can usually schedule a game with runs a Vulkan List which is very good for winning, but extremely boring to play against, especially because he refuses to play scenarios or anything other than the basic game types. At the moment I'm actually quite fed up with being on the competitive edge of things, but I currently lack the opportunity to play someone who would require me to think outside the box, or want to do something creative like have transport/jetbike races.

So what your saying is that there isn't many people that play 40k in Australia? and i should get an army that would be more fun than competitive?

Not really, goto CanCon and you'll meet lots of players but most of the ones in that region are either total fething arseholes that cheat but don't even know the rules, people who have no grasp of competitive builds or strategies for opponents other than footslogging MEQ and finally prickish guys who powerbuild like mad and claim the top 30 positions out of 120+ players.

I'm living round Geelong and Melbourne so I've seen a few groups. Most Victorian players really don't play competitive but it is rare to see them do something on the facepalm level of stupid. In Geelong the playerbase prefer fun over competitive, mainly in part because a third of it a kids and its not really fair to steamroll them, but as Beerhammer proved, when you remove the kids things get quite competitive.

My experience with Melbourne players is from 2 GW stores, central and Highpoint, both those showed that the majoority of the playerbase are stupid Marine lovers who will fight MEQ 95% of the time but spend all their efforts on wiping out horders or other non-MEQ armies that they will almost never fight. It also showed me that DE players are psychotics who spend every waking moment planning to rip and tear you apart like the Doom comic.

Generally though thats my experiences with regards to playerbases, I mostly play with a bunch of guys I knew through High school so we have some rather unusual ideas compared to the clubs and we tend to be way more competitive, but really you should play how you want.

For more Australia centric info check out Wargamer AU, pretty much all the major clubs across Australia use it as there forum as well as all the non-GW tournaments, which is most of them really.

Speaking of which what kind of environment are you playing in?
