I definitely see what they're doing with the Hornet.
The fluff we've seen, so far, for IA11 implies that it's going to be a planet like Hoth. The Hornet seems to be a way for the Eldar to field their trademark fast assault forces and get past the fluff of jetbikes maybe not operating correctly in the climate.

Well, The Hornet certainly does make for an interesting choice. It's a serious glass hammer, with potentially higher firepower than a Falcon (2 pulse lasers) but only AV11. Scout is a really, really cool thing to have on a light skimmer, too. This would be fun to field.
A unit will be mighty expensive tho. Methinks some converting is in order, and a few of my 10 spare Vypers and a couple Falcon chassis may meet Mr. Hacksaw before my next Apocalypse battle...

Why would you say that?
Imperial Fists/Crimson Fists are getting attention because the Imperial Fists feature in the Ultramarines movie.
Iron Hands are getting attention because they're an original Legion and they're also present in the Badab War(they'll probably be showing up in IA10), plus they've never really ever gotten attention from either FW/ GW.
The Hornet is them psyching people up for IA11 and also to shut the "OHLOOKMOARIMPERIALSTUFF!)" people up.

That's my best guess, personally.
There's an Imperial Fists Chaplain who's a main character in the UM movie from what I've heard, and if nothing else that'd be a fantastic way to justify bringing out some Fists brass-etch.

Then you'd make all the Space Marine Players cry if the ancient eldar could shoot better than they do...
But...they're....SUPPOSED TO!
They have technology so advanced that the Imperium can only consider magic and witchcraft. Is inventing an auto-tracker really beyond their capabilities? The Tau can do it and they're the galactic equivalent of a spunky teenager.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Plus, the things they're shooting at? In the case of the Imperium, functionally identical to a barn door. Size and shape.
Having super technology doesn't make one cool under fire. Space Marines have superior BS because ALL they do is train. They have no life outside of martial training and implementation of said skills. Even eldar aspect warriors take time to enjoy the finer things around them, and guardians are citizen soldiers pressed into action when the need arises.

FW basing its release schedule around the UM movie? That doesn't sound like a very convincing explanation to me.
Also, I've never heard that the IH were at Badab. I know that one of their successors--the Sons of Medusa--were there.

Iron Hands have always been involved, as far as I remember, but in a small role.
And I didn't say it's the explanation. I said that it could be an explanation---and it also gives them an excuse to visit a First Founding Legion that they've never really done anything for.

Lol, here we go. I did not say that you said that it was the explanation; I said your explanation was not convincing. Although I do think you tend to offer your possible explanations as if they are the actual ones. Case in point: IH are involved in the Badab War. In any case, I asked the question because I was wondering if there might be more IH releases or releases that are especially relevant to the IH (like the character upgrade).

Yeah, I think that's a problem of the Internet in particular. I can't really couch things in a way that I like without diluting my point. It either comes out as potentially hostile or smarmy.

I doubt we'll see more IH releases. The character upgrade kit was a big one, along with the variant armors and brass-etched.

Agreed. I misread what I later find is the true intent of a post at least once a day. (This is why moderation can sometimes be slow. ) I doubt we'll see more IH releases. The character upgrade kit was a big one, along with the variant armors and brass-etched.
Without a starring role in any upcoming IA, I think you're right. But it would be awesome to see some more upgrade options for them, given how truly divergent they are. In fact, their divergence may be a factor working against them as the models would need to be fairly different from standard Marine stuff. That and their boring, overdone color scheme.

IA9 has a list of all the chapters involved in the Badab War, including all those that will be in the second book. The Iron Hands are not one of them. I'd guess they are just trying to flesh out the original chapters at the moment

It's just a rumor, at this point, about Iron Hands in an Imperial Armour, but it seems to be in consideration at Forgeworld.
See the below thread about Gamesday:

Kroothawk quoting Dio´Ra from Warseer:
“Also while talking to Alan I got the following out of him:
- Badab war part 2 this xmas out, as the book was written as one and was just too big to be onebig so they had to cut it in half
- Sons of Medusa...we might get interesting fluff about their origin and also see hints of a future IA with Iron hands in the lead role, he told me he liked the IH because they are gonna be ver different than your standard marines...”
I believe the Salamanders had the minor role in the Badab War.

I said it before, I'll say it again: Like the Hornet.
But I'd like it even more if someone came up with a 40K racing game. Like an alternate universe where the different factions of the universe solve their disputes on a savage and bloody race track. Between the Hornet, the new Dark Eldar Raiders/jetbikes, and the FW Venators we need this. We could have racers and pit crews who gain experience, secret upgrades and dirty tricks that can be bought before each race. And a deck of trap cards that each player gets to draw from and then place on the track where they want. Maybe use the old EPIC/Battlefleet Gothic command dice to represent pilots performing all kinds of crazy maneuvers. GW, get on it!

It's a bit of an art, but there are actually pretty good techniques for expressing an opinion, or advocating a conclusion, without sounding declaratory. If you build a logical argument, you actually don't always even need a flat concluding statement all the time. You can present the facts, explain your analysis, and then leave the reader to decide how likely your conclusion is.
For example:
"An IF character is in the new Ultramarines move, so this might be part of an effort to bring them back as a featured army. Forgeworld support is a relatively cheap way to aid that."
Throw in a comment about foundation paints making yellow a lot easier to paint (probably the biggest stumbling block for new Fists players), and it becomes an intersting possibiilty.

More IH stuff would be great - they are quite different from 'regular' marines, and you'd still be able to use a lot of their stuff for other chapters - bionics for vets, etc.
Also, even though the name strongly implies it, is it 'official' that the Sons of Medusa come from the Iron Hands?
