Quick side note- do you know about the really impressive fan-made CD army book that came out recently? Kevin Coleman (who wrote the Dark Elf City Garrison list for White Dwarf, among several other things) wrote it, and it was prefessionally illustrated and laid out. Some of the Indy GTs in the US allow it for play, and it's pretty awesome.

It's been out for over a year and made the blunderbus a little OP in my opinion. I've used it and like some things and others not so much. Rules aside, it's well written and just the fluff alone is better than most (if not all) GW books...

An update by Mantic:

For the last few weeks we have been organising and plotting – and now all the fun is coming out.

First up, we have our new ‘Bad’ Dwarfs announcement- these are the Dwarfs who are not very nice, not very nice indeed! While these are still work in progress there has already been heated discussion about their name. We are thinking along the lines of Khaos Dwarfs, but Kaos Dwarfs has been suggested and found a few fans. Please comment below and let us know your thoughts.

The Khaos/Kaos Dwarfs will be released in February, and you’ll be able to build a pretty huge and exciting army. But what does this mean for the Orcs, I hear you shout. Well nothing really – they are currently with our tool makers and will be released as soon as they have finished with them – perhaps April? We will then have three months of Orc mayhem and madness).

Until then we have the Zombie and Ghoul metal command bits, a whole Khaos Dwarf army coming your way, more of the excellent Hasslefree miniature sets, and some new Elf models – and that is all before the Orcs.

We will also have news of Mantic Games granting their first licence, and also a story about something you can use with these new fangled phone things, paps? raps? baps? - or something like that!!… and very excited we are about these things too!

Oh, and so this post is not just a wall of text, here is another sneak peak for you:

Evil Dwarfs are featured in the Nibelungen Saga and the whole Germanic mythology. Difficult to sue that!

And IP law is more difficult than just "Hey their product look similar, hang them!"

I didn't mean evil dwarfs but Chaos Dwarfs, using both the name and aesthetic. But reading through the thread I see that they have named them Khaos/Kaos Dwarves instead to avoid that little problem.

Don't like the dwarves but the war machines have a nice old school chaos feel to them. Be interesting to see what the entire army looks like together.

To be honest I dont think they look much like GW chaos dwarfs.

But as said, IP law doesn't work like this.

I'm amused that they're now claiming the Chaos symbol (invented by Michael Moorcock in the 1970s, and borrowed by so many people including GW that it must be practically public domain by now). But yeah, evil dwarves have the same roots as good dwarves -- in fact, in Norse & Teutonic myth, there are probably more evil short chaps who are skilled at crafting than there are good ones.

I really like the look of these figures. I'm not a fan of the Warmachine rocket launcher thing. They'd fit right in with my now antique Chaos Dwarf Army which is half 3rd ed (pre big hat) and also big hat. I have, somewhere, a very very old Chaos Siege gun- you know the one where the Dragon poooped out the cannon ball. And some early mortars too. Mostly lead...... and not very much definition / look a bit like sucked toffees but still coool.
