Currently I plan to use Deneghra, mostly since she was in the starter pack.

But she will be quite modified too, but not quite sure how to replace/modify her head. I will build up the dress a bit.

Also planned is a heavily modified machine wraith, mostly just for fun.

Having no experience what so ever about playing warmachine, I feel quite interested on how it will go.

I now know that I will miss my first dead line (tomorrow) for cryx but that was quite expected. I had it mostly to boost my self a bit.

So I will try to get at least a basic paint job ready to next tuesday (the FLGS have warmachine gaming nights each tuesday).

There have been some painting on the slayer mostly some rust, and the head. All the metal will get dulled down quite a bit and tinted in different ways.


And both my skarlock and crankerworm are "done". I'm quite pleased with them for now but have not used any varnish yet since i'm not sure if there is anything else I should do too them.


Just for fun I made (still WIP) a doomsday device after having stumbled on the apocalypse rule for it on one of the many blogs I read. I really don't play apoc but tought it would be a great and quite different scenario to play even at the skirmish level


Any comments?

I definitely like the Cryx models, however, the Doomsday device does not look very...doomy? I always think of Doomsday devices as hug things, with runic writing on them, tons of tubes and wire coming in and out of various portholes. Or as huge cubes covered in dark pictograms.

Hmm about the doomie-explodie thingy, maybe more well cables etc but I think i could use a zombie and/or skeleton and connect it or build as a part of the device.

Will posts some images tomorrow on whats happened with the Cryx, a bit of modifications etc and a really early picture or two of the scrap thrall.

And I have learned one thing; I must set deadlines that are a bit longer in the future.. I almost burned out but I guess that might have been related to having a lot of unrelated stuff to do..

I'm gonna have to say the Tyranids are my favorite. Love the color scheme. Kudos though with overall painting. I enjoyed looking at them.

bunnygurl: thanks!, the nid just need some finishing than and some paint now so when the cryx are atleast semi painted it will get some more attention. Got a space hulk genestealer (new ed) that might also get converted a bit later on probably to be used as an brood lord.

Just as I said before a simple modification (blow? ) to the head and built up the dress a bit, also gave her a ribbon/belt. I plan to paint the mask and most of the helmet either brown rusty or "light" rusty (similar to the machine thralls glows). Dress will be about the same as the skarlocks.

I was quite inspired by this and also this Will probably not end up as nice as them but somewhere in that direction I'm aiming.

There is some work left but yea the basic colours etc are done, just some more washing of the metals and some details left.

I love your conversions! I like what you did with the Centaur, I might feel bold enough to use some my old beasty goat-headed guys...I'm not even sure why I have them!

RSJake: Thanks, yea they are quite odd sculpts, for example what is the purpose of the halberd when the beastman hides it behinds his back

But the rest of the figure is quite okey, and I think you quite easily can make a nice little demon out of them. (I have been thinking about making an obliterator out of one even).

And RSJake as before really like your bloodletter, looks a lot better then the current ones (I miss the old but not the oldest ones really).

That Deathripper is awesome! What is it from or is it your own conversion?

bunnygurl: thanks! It is from warmachine (cryx), will build up another for my gang and that one leans to getting some "love", we have to see if it just gets a more dynamic pose or something a bit more interesting.

Bah being sick but went and took some pictures of the machine wraith so I could show what progress had been made there.

Love the Cryx Warmachines. Went to a gaming store yesterday and found a bunch. Wanted them but I'm not allowed to buy anything for a while. Guess I'm just gonna have to live through you. More Cryx please.

@bunnygurl: Got a similar feeling currently since I made a deal or what one can call it that I should not buy any more figures before I have at least base-coated all my cryx. (Currently eying the kobolds at http://www.otherworld.me.uk/ and some bloodstone gnomes at reaper)

That the wraith looks a bit creepy makes me quite happy really, since one of my objections to the original sculpt (even if i really liked it if it so keeping parts in my bitz collection) was that it did not look enough wraith.

Speaking of creepy I painted up a scratch built I had made some months ago and forgotten about.

The Thing!
One of the photos is a bit darker I guess the one of the lamps was not hot enough yet. For a size estimate it fits all right on an 60mm base.


It was mostly a experiment painting wise with gesso and also testing out a colour theme (more a colour idea but... yea). The figure it self was made in cernit and some wire, I'm thinking about making some more, not exactly like this one but similar.

Any comments?

I'm not really that happy with the current state of this paint job, I over applied one of my washes, the OSL attempt did not came around as I wanted... But I guess most of this is savable.

So after last nights well not so happy blambi, I worked on something diffrent for a while so first I present to all of you a small update to my orks!

Some gretchins
The gretchins I started or finished today, I have also decided that I must vary the skin colours, mostly since I find it rather odd to have gretchins got this colour, boz this and the other ones this... especally if one compare it to human skin colours, even inside one family there is some variations.

This one isn't quite finished yet but really liked both the skin tone and the red nose Its a bit glossy but thats only a side effect wash/ink and will be matted down.

Noticed that I had not uploaded anything about this simple but quite effective modification.

Well no photos yet but all cryx got at least some paint on them now. Well I could fix some photos if there is a demand to see unfinished and minis

Almost on topic ordered a feldherr mini plus case (with 2x 60mm raster foam), will be interesting since I have never really owned any real miniature bag/case before. With a bit of luck i will have it to morrow.

The Centaur
Well it got both primed and some base coating, but since I'm not sure if these colours really work, I put it here and hope that someone can tell me if I'm to much off. I'm trying to be semi close to my plague marines.



On another note, fetched the feldherr case today and must say I'm really impressed.

Not sure about the colors for your Centaur (I have color issues myself) but I will say that it is awesome. Never seen a Centaur with guns before and I'm diggin' it! Sorry I'm not much help otherwise.

bunnygurl: thanks, well when I come to think of it neither have I.

I think the process that lead to this mini was something like: "oh those old beastmens in space are quite awesome, hmm I got some of these old plastic ones... maybe not that good in pose etc.. look at that old chaos horse and that poor old plastic khorne bezerker, hmm lets splice them!"

Most of my cryx figures got a finished base coat now, so wow I might even go to the FLGS and play a bit tonight.

Actually got to the store, and well now I know what to change in my warband. But I'm quite content with the result, premature draw but I probably would have lost but if we had time to finish the game. In need of shooty things

Yesterday I got inspired by the old quake 2 flyer (seen here in shockwaves thread)



So I sat down sketching up my own version, It will be a bit larger (lets blame anti grav stuff/engine for being to huge to fit inside a smaller hulk ).



And went to work on it. I probably will use it as a CSM Raptor or something home cooked (like a not that powerful but flying obliterator). Not sure if I will build the "wings" or if I'm going to make something similar to the jetpacks of but on stalks and a bit larger.
