"zeench" I think.

"Seen-ch"

As "seen" or "scene" in the word "scenery" followed by the "ch" in "bench" or "arch.

Having gamed across a fair few GW's and FLGS over the years the quoted style of pronouncing it has been the way I've heard it. Sometimes with a little extra pronunciation of a t at the beginning. But that's been the only differentiation for me so far.

Listen to how tzeentch is pronounced: http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=r1yjh0&s=7

I've got an audiofile of Corey Burton (he's known as the voice actor of Count Dooku, Megatron, Shockwave and many other great roles - I'm a huge fan of his work and he's a magnificent guy) and myself saying Tzeentch, pretty sure this is how it should be pronounced! Excuse that it's a bit random as these were taunts for a mod. It was harder for non-German speakers who voiced characters but as a German-speaker it's damn easy for me to get it right. Then again, I've heard a lot of really stupid pronounciations for Khorne and Nurgle from my fellow Austrians.

I've always pronounced The Changer's name as "zneech" (like "peach" with a zn- at the start) though in recent years I realize that that pretty clearly misplaces the n ...

Frankly though I often go with "tizz" (a pronunciation of the initial tz- of Tzeentch) and have never had a problem being understood

I do not pronounce it, for saying it's name would invite its gaze and inscrutable hate.

Yup a T followed by a consinant is mostly silent. So I have always pronounced it "Zeen-ch."

Pretty sure this topic has been brought up before a few months ago, because I remember posting about it then, and my answer will be the same tonight: I pronounce it "zeench" while one of my friends pronounces it "chech" and another pronounces it "tizneech." To be honest, they are throwing in letters that aren't in there, or removing letters from the middle of the word, and I have no idea how they butcher the word so badly. Removing the first letter of a word is quite common, including "Pterodon," "Pterodactyl," "Tsunami" and others...and the only word I can think of right now that makes a silent odd letter in the middle of a word is "Fjord" that sounds like "Ford." Short answer is...I'm sure it's pronounced "Zeench." But everyone will have their own point of view. They'll just be wrong

-I'm getting blasted for that last sentence

Yeah, you're right, people are supplying (or dropping) letters, mostly vowels. However, as I wrote in the original post, some languages do that, such as Hebrew. There, the name of God is written YHWH, so you have to supply the vowels, guess at them, or already "know" it (although not say it). It does sort of make sense to have a crypical pronunciation for a gnosis god of deception such a Tzeench to have variable name.

That's not the correct pronunciation of Tsunami. Being a Japanese word, the /ts/ is fully pronounced.

But then it doesn't matter. Tzeench is a made up word, it doesn't derive from any real world language and it doesn't follow any real world pronunciation system. It doesn't matter if the word is pronounced "correctly" as long as everyone understands what you're talking about.

It doesn't sound like anyone on this thread is doing it, but there's nothing worse than nerds putting on airs of superiority for how they pronounce imaginary words.

I think it's funny how difficult this word seems to some. In German, it's pronounced like it's written. TZ sounds very similar to TS over here ee would become ie which means it's pronounced longer, tch is like tsch from the sound. In German if you wrote him like this everyone instantly say it: Tzientch. Then again, many fail at Nurgle (don't get me started) and Khorne (many pronounce the e and the K is way too harsh), Slaanesh is easy for us again.

I think english-speakers have a terribly difficult time with pronoucing "hard" words as you got no harsh-sounding stuff in your language. Your T is pronounced softly compared to ours and I've never heard older english-speakers sound too authentic when speaking German (and vice versa - see Schwarzenegger). If you learn it soon enough, one has good chances though. All I can say is that various games pronounced it like we do, the latest was DoW2 with Scott McNeil saying it perfectly. And the T was audible. Yeah, I'm a snobgeek.
