At a Maori hungi in New Zeland. It was quite simply the foulst, vilest thing I have ever eaten and I have tried a lot of foodstuffs over the years.

we always try to trick foreigners into eating balut i love balut though

am not a picky eater as long as i:

a: know before hand what it is
b: is reasonable edible looking

b tends to trump a.

heck whenever i see a seamonster like the kraken i would already be planning what dipping sauce would go well with it (answer is white vinegar and garlic)

with saying that though, i avoid food that look like poo. Sea Urchin and Chesa fruit being my top two. I was tricked into eating sea urchin once blindfolded and it wasnt that bad but i just cant stand the sight of it.

if worst = painful i was tricked into biting into a pure wasabi sushi roll once...

To date i haven't been tricked into eating anything AFAIK.
I am however one of those people who wanders along a hedgerow scoffing whats in front of me from weeds to buds and flowers to mushrooms and the like.

also anybody tried squirrel? its fecking delish!

i'd love to try dog, tongue initially puts me off but i'm coming round to the idea and i'll eat pigs trotters. i draw the line at tripe mind...

there ya go Tripe i've not been tricked but i have eaten it and i'll tell you i shan't eat it again. i'd eat pretty much any other part of an animal though..

ooh Crème brûlée, had it at a friends wedding FOUL stuff!

I don;t think I've been tricked into eating anything since about 2nd grade (~8 years old you you non-USians). The old close your eyes and open your mouth routine...

That said I will eat pretty much anything if it can be proven to be food that is eaten routinely in a place. I've eaten bugs, lutefisk, haggis, tripe cheese, Spam , McDonalds, sea urchin. Probably the worst thing I've tried though is Poi. No taste, the texture of vomit and colorless to boot. Can't imagine how hungry the first person to try it was...

An old boss of mine was cooking up some authentic mexican dishes at the restaurant where we worked. He severed me a bowl of what he simply called menudo (sp?). I thought it had some weird kind of noodle in it, but it turned out to be intestines instead. Not that bad i suppose, pretty much tasteless with the texture of a wet cracker.

I've eaten some weird food: boiled cow eyes (the sclera hardens into a thin shell - after that it's mostly just like blood-flavored jello), goat brains, live geckos, etc.
The only thing I've actually had to be tricked into eating was dog food. A friend of mine told me it was Nesquik cereal and bet that I couldn't catch one in my mouth. Hilarity did not ensue.
Oh, and I'll never eat anything made by a Dutch cook.

My brother once brought home a piece of chocolate French silk pie from a restaurant.

It had fallen over during the trip home, but hell, it was chocolate.

My other brother and I thanked him for his thoughtfulness and dug in.

He had covered a piece of fish with the chocolate goodness of the pie… it was revolting.

He should have cooked it, never a good idea to eat meat raw (except fish of course).

When I was 10, me and my dad went to Norway. He had just got over a bout of cancer, and had read about something supposedly effective at keeping it from returning.

Turned out it was a shark fin that had been buried underground for god knows how long. Sure it was full of iron, but it tasted like a rubber glove filled with old fish and cold porridge.

Anyone know it's actual name?

Depends if they cook it in a Dutch Oven first....

Spoiler:
For the uninitiated, a Dutch Oven is a fun jape to play on one's partner in bed of an evening. It involves passing wind and holding your loved one's head under the duvet to ensure maximum exposure to the fumosity. Much hilarity.
