OT : I vote a little here and there. I noticed that as you vote it switches to the next random pic. I want to see all the relevant pics and vote on them at once.

I too would like that as an option.

This - Summon Legoburner!

It is mostly an option - the 'random image' select box under the votes box can be set to 'same gallery' to go through all the images in that user's specific gallery as well as a couple of other options. Extending iteration through searches and tags to the voting options is a bit too server intensive though so has been left out for now.

When it's a slow day - I'll vote and browse the gallery as I do so, surprising the number of gems you can find.

For what it's worth, we've had over 650K votes across 190K images. The best images are magnets for more votes though as that is part of what makes voting more fun. I have quite a few ideas on improving the enjoyability of voting for the future so whenever I get around to redoing the gallery, you can bet for sure you'll see increased voting.

sorry.

ps the 8 votes where from when I first joined and everything was new and shiny.

I wonder who has the lowest gallery vote to post ratio on the forum?

I think you are probably up there Chibi

Maybe there aren't enough dubious conversion attempts in the gallery, like this one:

As marshmallow womble objective markers go that looks okay to me.

Damn those 8 votes! I would rather have kept a clean sheet!
YAY! Thanks Pacific. I could be the top of a Dakka list!!
even if it would be something of a very dubious honour

IMO: People should take the time to vote more. Every time I find myself wanting to respond to some flame-war in the OT forum, I stop myself and vote on a few minis.

If you don't want to participate in the gallery at all, that's fine. But, if you're uploading images, you should definitely be voting on them.

I'd also encourage everyone to properly tag their images. I find myself spending WAY more time fixing tags than actually voting.

I'm going to try and turbo-vote a few times a day from now on. My only laments are that I come across a lot of unpainted, fuzzy pictures or pictures of rather boring backs of models that could've easily had voting disabled upon uploading.

I uploaded a couple of pics rather than host on Photobucket in my early days Brook.
They were just to illustrate something but I didn't realise there was a vote disabling thingy

It sounds a Newboy Norris error to me.
Legoburner could have a fuzzyfoto autodelete in the gallery so if the pics uploaded are sub standard quality they get zapped and save you gallery goers.

I tend not to go to the gallery pretty much ever. I probably should. Heck, I probably should toss up some of my own work on there.

I enjoy visiting the gallery early in the morning and getting my thoughts going, being kind to others, and drinking a nice glass of lemonade all at the same time. No harm at all in doing it at all.

Also I tend to see galleries or models people pm me, so I just get my taste of it frequently.

It's the "next random image" that you get dragged to when you vote that has killed an awful lot of it for me. I usually use the gallery when I'm looking for a specific inspiration (For the love of god, somebody please post some decently painted OOP Obliterator pics up - I desperately need a muse on those suckers and there's maybe 3 rather questionable pictures of them posted in the gallery!). Anyway, I really don't want to get distracted by looking at other stuff when I really want to nail down a possible technique or paint scheme.

It would also be wonderful if we could get a mouse-over vote option for pictures posted in threads as you go through the forums. I know I spend quite a bit of time admiring work in the Painting and Modelling forums and I'd be more than happy to vote on the pieces folks put up.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

I was really hoping to link the infamous pic of the upside down warbikes, surely it hasn't been deleted?

I believe that anything not correctly oriented was for the chop.

Do you mean this one?

Most improperly oriented images were purged from the gallery, but this one was kept because it's too funny.

Every once in awhile I go on a voteing and tagging binge where I vote and tag dozens of pics at one time.

I would suggest tagging all your gallery pics, makes it easier for them to be found.

I do like voting, but like others mentioned, it take a while. You have to navigate over to the gallery section or click on the picture or profile and find the pic, then vote. I think Dak should revise the system so that you can vote on any picture posted as you see it (w/o having to navigate away from what your looking at).

as a side note, what do i have to disable on IE to not get the annoying security pop up that needs to be allowed EVERY time in order to tag an image? and, no, i'm not interested in switching browsers just to take care of that advice.

edit: i made a nuts & bolts thread about the above issue instead.
