Space Wolves don't. Then there's that chapter (Mortifactors, was it?) created from the Ultramarines that have nothing to do with the Codex Astartes.

Besides, most of the Ultramarines' fluff is played up and exaggerated to get new customers (read: young kids) to start playing (read: to steal money off).

i knew as soon as i came in here ultramarines would top this list.

i went with imperial fists for no reason other than yellow armour looks... silly.

Ultramarines, with white scars coming in at a distant second. I'm just ambivalent about the latter, with mild distaste for the former because of how strongly they've been pushed (the roman legion style fluff isn't bad per se.

That said, I like the rest of the first founding chapters for various reasons at varying levels, with Salamanders at the top followed by Space Wolves.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Nah, seriously, just don't like them, the whole we build it up, we knock it down thing the Fists and Iron Warriors have going bores me to tears everytime it comes up in the fluff.

Plus Lysander, *grabs a sick bucket* nope, don't like em at all.

At least the Ultramarines had Kraken, and all the associated carnage that brought to the region.

Muppet? How so?

No comment on second part. just too...

LYSANDER SMASH! MY BIG HAMMER IS BIGGER AND HAMMERER THAN YOUS HAMMA! What could possibly beat him?

Yeah, I voted Ultramarines as my least favorite chapter. They are simply to steroypical for me. Plus, they always beat Tyranids in the fluff, so that makes me and Ultramarines sworn enemies as well.

Not exactly in those words, but the last sentence of paragraph at the top right hand corner of page 24 of C:SM basically says "Raven Guard, Imperial Fists and the others can never be Ultramarines, because they were not born of Guilliman's geneseed, but they will all aspire to the standards of teaching of the Great Primarch" or something to that effect.

I've never liked the White Scars. Space Mongols just seems silly. Why I picked this silly thing in a universe of silly to dislike...no idea. I just don't like 'em. Maybe it's because I perceive Mongols as bad guys (all that raping and pillaging and suchlike) and have a basic difficulty wanting to play or relate to villains. *shrug* I don't like gangster movies where the gangsters are the protagonists. I did'nt like City of Villains nearly as much as City of Heroes, even though it was a better game. Grand Theft Anything holds zero attraction for me. Ditto Dark Eldar, most of Chaos, (I like the Thousand Sons for some odd reason) and the Orks.

That's why they make chocolate and single malt, I guess.

Yes, obviously, because they AND "space mongols" do not exist. So other than that, are you denying that their entire 'flavor' is exactly that of "space mongols"?

Well to be fair its all just opinion, and some folks are going to dislike other folks faves, some guy just besmirched the White Scars, but its nothing for me to worry about.

*sharpens blade*

Hehe, but as you asked.

My main misgivings on Dorn is one of the most horrible 'pro traits writers can give a character' which is the he cannot tell a lie thing, leave that one to history please. My other is his reaction to the Codex and the Iron Cage.
So seriously one of the best Primarch leaders, can't tell his men to suck it up and accept the Codex, and would rather lead them on a suicidal attack against the Iron Warriors, as you know, its better they are dead than throwing a paddy over the idea of forming Successor chapters. Just seemed a 'Mmm we're running out of names for Chapters, quick have most of the Imperial Fists die so we only have to give them a few.' by the writers.
Maybe thats me.

Have you never been so enraged by the betrayals of someone that you would go after them even if it was to your own destruction? Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaannn!!! But yeah i never understood the Dorn and the others held the palace and broke the siege finally and that had to cost a lot of Imperial Fist lives. Only to turn around and spend his remaining force on the Iron Cage? There seems to me to have been a lot of unclear thinking taking place after the siege of Terra and such.

Not a huge fan of the white scars but my judgement is now based on hunt for voldorious which i just read! the battle cant throughout and the way they conduct war was infuriating to me, shame really as before i read it I was kinda fond of the little buggers :-( damn those poor authors.

The Ultramarines are the strctist followers of the Codex Astartes, followed by, from what I'm remembering, the Imperial Fists legion.

Ultramarines are a commonly hated chapter because of the thought that all Ultramarines think they're the best. I've never seen anything written to that account but a majority of gamers think of them that way.

My favorite First Founding chapter has to be the Imperial Fists. Of all the Primarchs I like Dorn the most, and really like the color scheme on top of it.

I voted for the Iron Hands, I don't know, perhaps its from what I read in Fulgrim, but I just don't like the chapter, nothing of substance there for me really.. but just an opinion.

Oh jeeze, i didnt even consider the primarchs.

Id still go with ultramarines, specifically due to the scene in the horus heresy book "the first heretic". I dont wish to spoil it. but mr roboute guilliman is a total git.

I was somewhat saddened to see that there wasn't a, "All of them!" option. I would have voted for that.

Without that, though, I voted for Blood Angels, because they are essentially loyalist khornates.

"I went into a hobby-shop to play m'self a game,
The 'ouse Guru 'e up an' sez "The Guard is weak and lame!"
The Chaos gits around the shelves they laughed and snickered in my face,

Oh it's "Angels this" an' "Space-wolves that", and "Guardsmen, go away!";
But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."

@Ogiwan - the Blood Angels are some of the most artistic and perfectionist chapters there are. They're just two extremes of the same line - angelic beauty, art, perfection - mirrorred by savageness, brutality, merciless killing.

I think the Blood Angels are quite bad now , the fluff is terrible and their just space Vampires.

I voted for the White Scars...I just think they're fluff is...meh. Plus, not a big fan of Biker Marines

My favorite are the Salamanders, with the Ultramarines close behind...I don't understand why so many people can't stand the Smurfs

Bland smurfs get my first slot.

Closely followed by furry marines.

Next would be vampire marines and emo marines.

Further down the list would be the Goth marines, pyro marines, techno-punk marines, monk marines, and last would probably be the wannabe-biker marines.

Tied and gagged in the back of your car

Ultramarines are high on my list for their absurd mary-sueness, and Space Wolves just because I don't like them.

But my vote goes for Dark Angels. They have some cool fluff around them, but it's all buried under a stupidly overexaggerated SUPER DUPER SECRET THAT'S SO SECRET THAT NO ONE CAN EVER KNOW THE SECRET SECRET. Sure, the Ultramarines may be bland, and the Space Wolves may be stupid, but the Dark Angels take good fluff and bury it under bad fluff.

Well to say that mongols are inherrently bad is completely a matter of skewd perception. do you really think mongolians were the only conquering race that raped and pillaged. The Beloved space vikings have roots from a culture that terrorized europe for a very long time by pillaging towns along the coast and many of those cultures also forced cities to pay for protection to keep them from raiding them, which they usually did anyways. also Space Vampires, come on seriously how many times have vampires really been the good guy. Let's see theres blade and . . . um the trainwrecks that are twilight. I find it strange to dislike the Scars because they draw influence from the Mongolians. To Dislike them for their tactics is one thing but to dislike them for their infuencing culture makes no sense to me.

Had to defend my boys there. and personally i dislike the ultras, just because they seem to righteous and all mighty. wish gw would give some of the other first founding legions some more love as models go. Ultras have like 5 or more hq's just for them and everyother c:sm chapter is stuck with just one man.

plus i can understand a hidden like for the thousand sons because they never really did anything wrong untill they were screwed hard by horus and made to think it was the emps decision.

I'm sure Mongol mommies loved their Mongol kids, and Mongol kids loved their Mongol puppies - and smiled as they chased Mongol butterflies across fields of Mongol dasies...but they were a pretty brutal folk. Because other brutal folk existed then (or now) is irrelevant. "But he did it too!" has always been a poor defense.

I also dislike Space Motorcycles. So..they just can't win with me... But hey, they don't have to. I'm not advocating them going the way of the Squats, I'm just saying I don't like them.

Space Wolves, i mean really? whose idea was it for Space Marines to turn into werewolves? And i thought Vikings didn't even like wolves! Thought that in Viking cultures they hunted wolves to become men or some random thing. i Can understand Blood Angels going crazy becuz of some genetic misshape but turning Supermen into crazy half wolf monsters is just ridiculous
