Jeez, I though my dad was bad...

Anyways, this game is SO MINE!! It looks absolutely awesome.

So, Relic.... Space Hulk soonish, yeah?

Co-op multi-player = YES!

If the reviews are even half-way decent I will be able to convince my friend to pick this up - we're always looking for some good, fun co-op multiplayer (currently working our way through Borderlands)...

And, if the reviews are only so-so?

I'll probably still pick this up anyway!!

Hmm looks okay but first:

@the people moaning about the graphics. You are showing your ignorance, how the heck are you gonna judge the graphics based on an SD video, even if you choose HD it is still HEAVILY compressed. The poster having a go at the TEXTURES (?!) in the game from a compressed flash video is a bit of a fool.

Saying that however it does appear to be running on a modded version of the engine that ran DOW 2 which will indeed mean it will be graphically behind the curve.

My opinion, (Puts on Videogame afficianado hat) the hack and slash style close combat looks like it has plenty of feed back ad heft and appears to be a three hit then finisher kinda set up, possibly with a heavy and light attack. This is quite unique in TPS' (Thirdpersonshooters) so this could be a great addition. Speaking again as a bit of an expert in game terms it is usual that the puniest enemies 'Explode' this is for two reasons: 1 you need to feel powerful, hence Squishy enemies, 2 based on the fact you will be fighting larger volumes of grots it is better from a framerate/performance standpoint that the corpses disapear as per game mechanics they are needless physics objects (processor eating).

One of the more enlightened posters mentioned how the bolter currently looks innacurate, this could be cause for concern. Like the rest of 40k buffs i like the idea of the bolter being a high power kindof shotgun/marksman rifle hybrid. Lets hope there are at least some more enjoyable weapons in the game (judging from the plasma gun we could be in luck).

All in All i think this game will be above average.

TBH I like how relic seems to know their 40k stuff, they're the only company I would trust to make a decent current gen 40k game. In some parts the graphics seem brilliant, and then in others, not so much, like the Grots just exploding into a cloud of blood, that was weird. At least its an over the shoulder TPS rather than an FPS, so you can actually see your pimped out Smurf Chainswording some Orks.

At first I was impressed then I am thinking, are these cut scenes or actual game play?

Too many times especially for 40K, things look so good before release and become a major disappointment when released, so I am very cautious with this game.

With all the slow mo going on, it looks more like a movie than actual game play. Even if this is actual game play, how many games did we get that look awesome but have very bad game play? Also shoot, hack slash, shoot hack slash, it looks like it can be very very repetitive and boring to play after 2 hours of game play.

So I am not getting to excited for this game at all. Just look at DoW II how almost everyone was so stoked and excited for it, and allot of people were so disappointed with it.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

For anyone that Is intereted the game is infact running on a modified version of the Darksiders engine created by Vigil games. So anyone that has played that game will know what to expect. As i own that game i can assure you the graphics will be solid but are without the fidelity of a contempary fps or indeed an unreal engine 3 game :(

I think Blood Ravens would have been better as to be honest i think Dawn of war has more fans than tabletop (a shame i know).

I don't care about all these fast reflex finger-based action, just give me another turn-based Strategy title.

No, it reminded me a lot of the Dynasty Warriors series. Super dudes killing scads of enemies without breaking a sweat.

It is pretty, but I doubt there will be much replay capability with it.

I only hope for a co-op mode.

I'm somewhat trepidatious about this release, although I'm glad they are using the good ol' Ultramarines rather than the Blood Ravens, as doing so may result in more players learning about the Tabletop game...

As to the game itself, it looks pretty enough, mildly repetative, and I don't know about the plot. Orks invading to steal some dakka? Ok, not deep or complex, but maybe it will surprise me.

For the most part, I hope it sells like crazy though, so everyone will get their tabletop plasticrack, and make GW their dealer.

Especially the textures seem very bad (see 0:38). Hopefully this will change although out zoomed cc doesn't support this. Effects like smoke doesn't seem to be 2d insted of 3d (not 3D I mean 3D).

Hugely immersive world means flat levels with nice skyboxes but don't worry Gears of Smurf is your traditional fantasy: all have guns. Lukily developer luvs the ip and is not selling out the world aka blood and violence (0:50).

It seems Smurf will be another consoleport I wont buy.

Suffolk, where the Aliens roam.

I'll be getting it for sure, I think some of the blood work looks overdone, but then it's still not as bad as Dragon Age.

Not sure how it will play, God of War/Gears of War with no cover is the two I've heard mentioned, but as I've played neither, it's going to be a new one for me.

At the end of the day its going to be Streets of Rage like, it's Why I raise an eyebrow of the Dynasty Warriors hate that goes around some mags, yet they still rate Streets of Rage as iconic and awesome.
Dynasty Warriors is the natural successor of the side scrolling beat em up, its just in a fully 3-d battle and you chase stuff around. Love the game series much like I loved Streets of Rage.

If it plays anything like Dynasty Warriors, this will be my new fave game of the year. Just a shame its too much to play with my eldest. Hell, I'll probably have to hide it, if he see's a game with a Marine on the cover he'll be pleading to play it. He's only seven.

Oh and on a side note, Dynasty Warriors 7 is probably the best one since DW3, so many good additions this time, controls feel right as well. Camera was totally borked in DW6. (Just thought I'd add that in for anyone who thought DW6 was a let down, and was skipping DW7 as they thought it was going to be more of the same. )

Dynasty Warriors! That's the game I was thinking it looked like. To me, it seems like a cross between Dynasty and Gears, but without the more refined gameplay of gears it seems.
Personally, I don't care for Dynasty Warriors and it's gameplay and that's almost certainly what's putting me off this. I think for me, much like much Mattlov (again), a co-op mode would be its only saving grace...

Will be picking this up, especially if there is co-op.

Hopefully we will get some chaos marines/cultists in the final game, like the original demo from an E3 a few years ago... (before it got shelved then taken up by relic)

"Space Marines are very serious, very controlled, the Orks are sort of messy, vicious, violent, so adds a nice contrast."

That quote right there is why no one likes Ultramarines. Any chance Gamestop will have a pre-order bonus code that provides an alternate skin for the main character to be a drunk Space Wolf?
