Gah not sure what happened but the photos I took of the Sgt are almost all blurry so here is one of himnto quite finished (still some highlights and washing to do)
Just as a reminder he will not have that head I just hated seeing it white only.
- Musings -
Bushmaster my preffered transport alternative is being elusive, it seems that only one campany is producing scale kits and is not ready for mass porduction
havign been swamped with orders. While another model company is in the proccess of making a 28mm kit but is not finished yet and wont be until may,
so I may have to either try and scratch build one or change my options here.
Orgyns... What could be used instead of them on the table top say armored IG troops maybe, I had an idea for an IG style terminator armor suit called a K.O.A.L.A
(the "Kaplan Offense And Lifter Armor", named after the engineer who rediscoved the stc). any thoughts? (this unit could be mounted in the Valk and named the drop bears).
my thoughts on this were, the armor is a converted penal enforcement suit, like crappy power armor used to keep the prisoners in check, and has been modded to suit a military role
over the years.
Not sure about spears and boomerangs, I'll look at options like that for characters once I get to that stage, at this point I'm trying to concetrate on the core of the army Troops, Fast
attack and Elites.
Please feel free to add to anythign I'msaying the more feedback the better, it helps with the creative proccess and helps me build a fun and exciting army.

Happy ANZAC day Santobell and everyone else!
The colour on your sergeant looks a bit too much like sandstone.... but maybe its just me...
As for KOALA... I say YES!! Except that Ogryns have 5+ armour and can't fly in Vlks/Vandetts

Santobell, do not, ever, watch "Full Metal Panic Fumoffu" while making your Ogryn equivalents. The protagonist was using a suit of powered armor disguised as a toy bear costume, complete with appropriate noises. Take that for a KOALA. Now, kidding aside, your idea would not be too unfeasible, provided you'd differentiate it from Space Marine equipment. Maybe here an exposed cockpit and Appleseed-style controls wouldn't look out of place (the Dreadknight... say no to baby carriers). Sentinel parts, either as inspiration or conversion fodder, might be useful.

Indeed a happy ANZAC day though thats not really how it's supposed to be celebrated but meh.
Ok to define my term Power Armor, I do not mean Space marine I'm more leaning toward the Powered Lifter suits in the Movie Aliens as my base inspiration,
it's not the overly extra protection it's the power to lift, punch and hold heavy items and weapons I was more interested in(emulating the Orgyn), the issue still remains how to build the damn things.
As for not going in Valk's I was not aware of that, the rule book does state they can have a dedicated Chimera but nothing about restricting the transport option, are you referring to the Bulky rule which seems to be missing from my codex and my rule book? my understanding of that was, like with terminators they take up the space of two normal troops, though I'm probabky wrong.
Well it shoots down the idea I had if they can't be airlifted so thats that mvoe onto the next idea which I haven't thought of yet haha.
I need some ideas to shoot the army into the 41 millennium? something to take it from historical to Scifi.

Ok dilema 1. Only two companies are going to produce a Bushmaster PMV model in 1/72 and 1/35 scale both are not ready for the kit to be launched yet, one might be ready for July.
So I ummed and arghed (yes like a pirate) about it and desided I REEEEEEEAAAAALY wanted one so I chose (stupidly) to make my own...... from scratch, really from scratch as in 90% plastic card
with only a few bits here and there from kits. This kind of build is new to me I have never attempted anything like this before, though my airship came close it was 90% GW kit based so this was
an inverse of that experiance.
Oh and at one point during the build I was ready to just bin it I'll point that out in my pics below.
Yep this is where it nearly met the bin.
Guns
Base Painted
Yeah I have some bits coming to add to that blank area above the door and that round thing hanging off the back is a spare wheel housing.
Guns yay.
The front needs some more detail I'm working on what to add at the moment.
Some areas still need soem filing back it was hard to see the rough edges with all the marker pen lines on the edges of everything.
Scale pic.
All it all it's coming along well, I have some gap filling to do and a few extra details left to add (ladders and handles etc). Mostly added paint so I could see it, it's very ahrd to judge
a build like this while it's multi coloured and base grey/white.
Dilema 2 - Horses for the light horse, realy hard to find anything I like should I try and make some? how hard would that be? or should I go with an external companies horse and
mod them to fit in the GW ones are too static and have all the wrong legs/bridle/saddle/gear/stuff on them. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and a quick question should I make some truescale Marines to be allied with these guys, Southern Cross Space Marines Chapter maybe?

The Wheels are the largest I have on hand I may try and make some bigger ones, the wheel arches where tailored to the small wheel size.
Larger wheels would actually lower the truck by half an inch.
I did actually want it tall, it's not as wide or long as the Chimera so it's hieght keeps it in a similar overall mass. Unlike Tanks, which are traditional low to the ground.
Trucks like this rely on their hieght to clear obsticles in the path. I's a big 4x4 afterall.
Just for details an M1 Abrams Tank is 9.83m long, 3.65m wide and 2.88m tall
The Bushmaster is 7.58m long, 2.48m wide and 2.65m tall.
So not a massive difference in size between this transport truck and a super heavy real tank.
I think this is where I went wrong when doing the first measurements for the model I went with a real scale against a real world equiv big tank so in scale I was comparing this to a
Leman russ or Landraider (It's not quite Baneblade in size afterall). With size in mind this will probably be used to transport the Orgyns so the larger scale suits the troops who will fill it.
Or I can strap a battle cannon/punisher cannon on the roof turret and call it a Leman Russ which is actually more of a fun idea if you ask me.
Overall it did end up slightly taller than I had hoped (about as tall as a landraider). but most of that hieght has been gained from a lack of correct wheels which I hope to fix just trying to
work out the best way to tackle the problem, then I'll cut back the wheel arches and fit the large wheels and like I said above it will drop the hieght a fair whack overall.
Though looking at it further I like the idea of changing this to a non transport role (Leman Russ) or Orgyn transport, let me know what you think guys.

Yeah I guess since the scale of tanks in 40k is slightly off then when you create a properly scaled vehicle it seems to big...still better plasticard-fu than I am capable of

Ok so bad day today the youngest kid is sick (11 month old) so it's been hectic,on the flip side the heads and torso's have arrived and I have quickly snuck one together to test my paint shceme
for the rank and file Diggers (Troops).
Now this is base colours plus quick wash and I rushed it to see what the result was, the colours look great even on this early attempt and fora rank and file
they will look pretty neat I think.
I will also be mixing it up with some short sleaved troops as well.
-Orgryns-
I'm considering Orgryns as you all know now I came across an old war poster and I'm thinking about making them look like the cartoon Aussie on the top right of it
and here's the poster please let me know if you think Orgryns like that would be good or no ... cheers
CnC away
Oh and started to base coat the Bushmaster PMV but ran out of black paint so it's off to the shops tomorrow to get a refill.

Miss Dee wrote:Are they going to have a stockpile of tinnies?
The Orgryns probably will have something like that on their bases. Scattered cans etc all I need to do is figure out how to get Orgryns in Shorts (I'm
thinking cast their forearms then GS shorts and long socks using the elbow as a knee join, Crocadile teeth strapped around their hat brims.
GS the grenades into beer cans, make them look roudy and drunk.
I also would love to do a Mad Max themed Penal unit as well but main uints first.
So many ideas for this army it's hard to filter it all into useful units etc.
But keep throwing ideas at me for the HQ I really can't pin one thing down that works for me yet.

You can't see a Croc skull on his leg and a Kubra hat with teeth round the rim on his head while his base etch the words "Mr Dundee"on it?
Just kidding actually but I had thought of using him simply from the bionics point of view he's quite unique. A lot of the Ig commanders a quite static and I really wanted one that felt
like he wouldlead from the front instead of safely Voxing orders to the front lines.

1. yup I know they had a high failure rate but went off like a rocket when they worked well.
2. I was thinking of having a Sentinal detachment wander around with them and use car like vehicles (like the ELYSIAN TAUROS ASSAULT VEHICLE) (yes I copy pasted that sorry
bout the caps) instead of the actual sents.
So my fast attack will be made up of:
Light Horse rough riders
Valkyrie Gunship
Sentinal Squadran
Which locks in the first solid section of the army list.... So Yay me!
