Everything loos fantastic as always Santo I/m normally not a fan of the Cont Dreds, but I do like what you're doing with yours!
You get six for a few dollars.
For me the Contemptors are not my first choice in a dread. That said the new minature and the size suited the TS nature of this combined army and thanks to Blackhands dread shoulders
I was able to adapt them to my needs quicte nicely I think.

Wish I had that many bits laying around :( too bad I waste most of my good bits on special characters drats...
Cheers matey, most of my armies are made from a lot of old store stock (I worked for a shop that closed and as a payout I got a bunch of minis and other bits n bobs) I still have to fill them
out of course but I have a lot of start boxes like guardsmen or Tyranid fodder, some eldar a bit of tau etc.
I shoot my budgets in the foot though by converting way too much of the armies and doing crazy builds like my 40k Skaven/Ork Airship.
Anyhow some painting in progress pics fo the contemptor.

Very similar to yours, the whole thing sprouted from the rough riders in the codex becoming a lighthorse brigade. I guess i didnt get around to it early enough and as internet law applies, you posted it first, you invented it first haha. Great fluff mate and some great work on your models.Keep it up.

I've been thinking about building this army for about four or five years but haven't been happy with the options available in the common army lists, that said there are still flaws in this one but as far as
combining SM and IG go it's a fairly complete system of rules, just a shame actual roughriders are not present but I don't mind plays as list units as long as it fits the colour of the army fluff and models.
Good to have you onboard mate!
Llamahead wrote:Really impressive light effects on the Dread! Why couldn't they have released this in plastic rather than the Nemesis Baby Stroller?
Don't get me started on the "Watched too much Avatar and end of Matrix Knight", some how the Imperium of man who can't screw a light bulb in without consulting eight books on the subject
managed to do what the Tau should have as a natural army option, not to mention the model is crap, good converting parts but horrid miniature.
To be honest the kit's pretty cheap it took two weeks form order to arrive in Oz which is great time wise for international shipping. FW are doing more arm options for them shortly and once they do
I'll send in an order for them and magnatise the arms so I can chop and change the loadout.

Remembering that his size has been adjusted to match that of the TS marines so he's huge when standing next to the Guardsman.
I'll get to work on his highlighting tonight (done some but need to do more) I'd also have more photos but on that last shot the camera
gave out the battery has last me a month on one charge so I can't complain to much, I also want to pickup a second lamp today to make the photos
turn out a bit better, the camera seems to adjust the light to that of the room and desk etc so I'm hoping that by adding an extra lamp and lighting it from more angles
it'll reflect better and with less shadows and dis-colouration.

That might be more to do with Oz prices than anything else. It is how ever one of the Forgeworld kits which seem reasonable value and I am going to sriously consider getting one sadly enough in this case the car comes first......

The commissar will be used as the Armies Tribune which is the Imperial Guard commander I added extra scaring to his face like a burn the hat and changed his arm from normal to bionic (from the
Cadian command spru).
The impact of the Contemptor is what I'm going for as you can see below he's really huge when standing next to his fello imperials and it's this shear scale I wanted more than his ability to
safely shield my rims from the harshness of the local freeways hehe.
Everybody so far - Oh and you'll notice I got the light horse onto correct bases now as well (just need to dress them up a bit).
Starting from left to right;
Far left - Light Horse (Iron Hunters)
Left Front - Honour Guard
Mid Back - SASR (Armsmen)
Mid - Imperia Australis Guard (Auxilia Guard)
Mid Front - No name yet open to suggestions (Lugft Huron)
Right Front - Tribune & Sgt (Guard Command Sqaud)
Right Rear - Endeavour Dread (Ven dread/Contemptor)
Far Right - Warden (Centurian)

Haonn wrote:Counts as huron is AWSOME! is his lioncloth custom built or is it from something?
He's actually Huron, just adjusted to make him to scale with the TS marines from Hits and CH.
He was cut away at the waist and knees his torso raised and a small amount of GS used to widen his torso.
The legs are TS marine kit legs with the knee down removed and the Huron mini's lower legs put in place and GS
used to make the new ribbing at the backa nd to fill any gaps as well as add a skightly raised area or the fronts and backs of the legs to emulate the
Terminator legs more.
The hip armor are radar dish sides from a rhino kit and the rear plate is again from huron.
The loin cloth is hurons just cut away filed and GS'd into place with some seals added to hide the slightly butchered bit I couldn't fix.
Then finally I changed his head for a normal Termi Sgt one so he's not got Hurons face (as he's counts as not is).

New Update - Chimera an adventure in painting worn paint and battle damage.
So I got the Chimera for the army and quickly customised it to be a 40k extra cab ute. Well not really yet kind of at the same time.
See Ute ... kinda.
I really wanted to paint the vehicles for this army to a level I've not achieved before and with the lack of an air gun I had to get creative to add a real/semi real damage
and wear on the tanks paint so I reached for my sticky tape matt varnish and silver paint.
Painting the entire tank in mithral silver allowing it to dry and then applying a coat of Flat truecoat and allowed it all to dry (bright silver tank took aweful photos so no pic sorry).
After ward I painted the tank in my army colour of Commando Khaki letting it set not dry I went to town using small strips of sticky tape to tear away my newly painted ... well paint.
leaving the shiny silver undercoat still visible, washed it and began adding details.
here the results so far (still painting thr damn thing).
side by side to check the colour against the armys.
Not blood the bases of all this armies troops etc have a deep red dirt on them known as Pindan which is a type of clay and can be used to build houses, it's also
only found in Northern Australia though similar clays are located world wide. So the dirt stains are painted to match the bases bascially.
Big shovel, you can see the tearing on across the face of this digger.
Non detailed side of the tank.
detailed side it's kinda hard to see the paint chipping thanks to the use of two light colour on my part and bad lighting on the part of the photo but still looking good.
So there we have it something to keep me entertained for a while.
If you have not seen the tape method before or want to know more I'll do a tut if you like (I'll do it with blue so it's really easy to see).
