http://seditionwars.com/

I like the mini's from the sedition set but I'm trying to keep things as much gw while at the same time trying to be unique as much of this army I have modded or changed at it's base of
each miniature or thing is still a large part GW mini's or at least spot on look, with the sedition set it's very different in style.

I did however just find out that the mail order service is still selling munda arbites in a unit of 8 so I may have a look at them or try and ebay a few select Arbites like the original sgt.

Yeah really happy with how this army will look table side should be a good thing, turn some head etc.

FantasyBob wrote:I'm trying to understand the wing of this SM....more photo, please!

Sure...

See the gaps? That what I was leaving if git was going to change the wings and paint him but I'll fill all of that wih gs and add housings to the end of each tubine pipe to clean the model up
should ahve it painted by the end fo the week.

Gitsplitta wrote:I'd be honored if you'd paint it. I already have one vanguard built and painted by graven, so matching my pattern exactly is not important. Would rather have your work to show off.

I'll try and get them all sent by tuesday week, the two mantis guys and the one deathwatch guy.

MeatShield wrote:I'm not a fan of the respirator below the nose, but I think the horse's worked better then the cold ones, and I love cold ones. I just think the sci-fi & real life mixture would have been thrown off by the lizard mount.

Yeah the horses worked out great, I'll post a link to the manufacturer so anyone instrested can get them as well, the breather doesn't quite gel with the heads I'm using which is a shame so the mini's that have them are a mix of under nose over nose but they all look fairly good when together in the mix of the unit.

5 more guys painted thats half of the first troop choice done.

Very inventive usage of bird wings to make insect wings, fantastic, also loving the IG paint scheme.

As usual can't wait to see more as it usually inspires me to try new things myself

To be honest I quite like the rebreathers off style it resembles the images of men in the trenches before the gas sirens went off. They wouldn't wear them all the time as they were uncomfortable and restricted your breathing making you slow (and possibly dead). They always had them close to hand however and if you've seen images of the injuries caused you'd understand why they're chilling. I've always been attached to the idea of Marines and Guardsmen in a more combined arms style force so it's looking great and the Cntemptor is awesome can't wait to see what happens. I'm also impressed by the coherency of the varied elements kudos to you.

He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. I'm going to second the 'wow' for those wings dude! really nicely done! everything you've done so far looks tops! well done, those ts marines are fantastic I like the little touches and the way it somehow manages to blend an 8 foot tall marine into a squad of guard!

Thanks matey, my ideas stem from what I have laying about so I tend to use alot on normally uncompatable items and make them work unfortunately for me it often ends in me stumped or
missing bits as well, just happy he turned out alright in the end, more to come soon one week till payday and hopefully some new items for the army.

I have done a deal (with a good mate) to get my hands on two foregworld baneblades, though not part of my table top army I will be painting them up to match, one in a diarama and the other for Apoc games.

Contemptor is out on the 23rd of the months and should take a week or two to get here, really hanging out to see it in the flesh so to speek. I'll be making it's Autocannons from scratch
in a Chrome hounds style with long barrels and flash reduction chambers (brakes) at the ends of the barrels etc. (like long sniper rifle barrels).

but longer.

it's really funny how just breaking up their paint scheme with the cowls they, not quite vanish but seem to blend into the smaller unit isn't it? almost like an illusion.

Commodus isn't bad but compared to the other three special characters (Huron, Sumatris and Valthex) available in the list he's a bit over priced for what he does.
That said S 5 melee and Rending is nice but kinda counter productive and to lose a HQ choice for him at only WS 5... Ontop of that if he is taken in a game over 1500 points
he (being the centurian) gets slotted into the IG command squad where is 1+ to sweeping advance rule is basically lost (other wise he takes up that extra HQ that in a bigger game you
really dont want your centurian using up).

To be honest I'd rather field Captain Sumatris for 60 points more to gain access to a command squad and or his special weapons and abilities plus WS 7. (specials include 2 extra melee attacks to a
total of 5, adding a +1 WS bonus to friendlies within 12 inches, access to a command squad or honour guard, inv save via stormshield (melee) and an extra bolter that fires twice and is assault).

But for me the choice of Huron wasn't so much as wanting the big bad guy unit or the cool mini but the Tyrants Sheild special rule which lets you take a single Elites choice from the
SM Codex which is the only way to access dreadnaughts.

Like wise the only way to access SM heavy support is to include a Cohert SM squad which is an over priced Tactial squad and completly un-needed as the IG Heavys are more than capable
of leveling anything in your way.

Well he's dead and a Space Marine so yeah he's compensating for a lack of "insert imagination here" :p

In explenation, they are that big to represent the twinlinked autocannons they play as I find the combined look on this
model to look a bit odd and out of place (like the twin bursts on the XV9 crisis suits it just looks lazy) so I went with longer barrels.

I've actually got it assembled for the most part now, I'm hoping to get a chance to paint it tomorrow or at least get a start on it.

A thought....

Have you considered having those long barrels extend through the shoulder and out the back as part of an extensive recoil mechanism in order to lower drift from shot to shot. You chould model the short barrel extending back enough so that it was the same length as the forward barrel. In essence, the gun loads in the forward position, fires, the barrel recoils back through the shoulder where it ejects the shell, then returns to the forward position for the next shot.

All you'd need to change is drill a hole behind the forward barrel and add the extension on the the back barrel (with a shell ejection port).

Not sure if I am sold on the ACs Santo, they are pretty damn long!

Now I am the last person to be calling people up on oversized guns on infantry and mechs but......

The pose itself is sh&t hot though, like he has just fired with the left arm and is sighting down the barrel of the right arm for his next shot, very nice.

...oh and those resin dread shoulders are superb, where did you get those?

One problem I foresee is people claiming that you are modeling for advantage as those guns gain you probably 3-4" of extra range over a normal model, You might put a mark on one somewhere to represent the size of a normal barrel and measure your ranges from there.

It should all come together in the end I hope, I can always shorten them if needs be, I'll have the ammo belts cast today and I've GS'd
all the holes and gaps so he's just about ready for paint.

The shoulders hmm just some crazy Skaven loving Kiwi.
