There is a bigger pic one of the diggers all posed right on the Pyramids and some 16 of them are already dead.

This one.

Update on that Chimera.

Added details and more damaged paint work, decals and markings.

CnC as always is welcome.

He was shot in the head but did not die, he made it home. I have a vague memory of the ridge in his skull from where the bullet skimmied the bone.
Sadly he died in a hit a run much much later.

He is the inspiration for this army in fact, not too long ago we got his service records and private documents etc released to us from the war memorial.

It took 4 years to get his records ok'd for release and still we still didn't get it all, but we got all manner of things from his medical reports to his medals,
his postings and even letters home that got lost or where copied as part of security, it was amazing to read his words after so long.

It was quite a funny thing really we were told to expect a few papers maybe 5 pages of documents in total and we got so much more a box arrived full
of this and that just about fell over when the courier came with it.

Hey thanks mate, I'm trying all manner of new techniques on this army I want it to feel very iconic, gritty and worn. Hopefully I'm getting there.

I have a couple more in the works I'll post them when I can, it's good to hear that people other than myself like the visual fluff idea as well, for me it helps me see how I want the amry to look

I need to get an air gun it amazing how many damage or shadow techniques there are that require the use of one oh well we do what we can with what we have

More to come, armsmen are nearly done and the mauraders are almost built as well.

Hey thanks matey, I'm enjoying this project so much I'll probably continue to add to it after I reach my 1500 point marker maybe even flesh it out with some more
IG units so it can be used as IG only or as Legion, I have also thought of making alternate units to add in here and there so it can be portrayed as the bad
guys as well having a tau/kroot Maurarder unit for instance and maybe a chaos marine units or Tyranid Hybrids, that way I can change the look of the army
without adjusting the army list to suit the game I'm playing at the time.

Dakka_Dok wrote:Cool! The only thing I would change is turn the end of the lascannon, mounted on the truck upright. The devil is in the details.

Yeah I keep forgetting to do that and everytime I spot it myself I say "Tonight I'll fix that tonight" then it never happens but seriously I really need to rotate that.

Miss Dee wrote:The crew came from a gang

Very true.

Update - no pics-
Human Mauraders are built though I'm trying to choose what to use for the Brute (40mm base monster of some kind thats good in CC and has no shooting).
I was thinking of a robot Kangaroo converted out of a coldone. but not sure tell me what you guys think or what you would use maybe an acro flagellent, security bot,
crazy pit fighter guy let me know you guys pick for me okay haha.

- Mini Update -
Mauraders undercated.

These guys are hired guns with special rules like "Specialists and In it for the Money" they are a special weapons team with the bonus of an combat buddy that goes by the name of a Brute.
The idea behind te way I've built the miniature is to look like IG but have some very non - offical setups but in very subtle ways such as some helmets have no Aquila on them and the armour is
iregular and weapons are modified.

This unit is also acompanied by the Centurian (space marine) which gives them an extra punch.

I am as I said above making varients for this unit so I can them the army to match my games visually (in case of IG Vs IG for example or if I need to take a bad guy side in a campaigne etc).

So here is the first option for the unit (unfinished).

Team leader reaching for her Bonding knife.

Sniper with modified rifle.

Recon

I still need to make one with a flamer and fix soem Kroot hounds to a 40mm base to use as the brute but they look pretty good.

Still stuck on what to use for the IG's Brute so any suggestions would be excellent.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ok so white and over contrasted photos were probably not the best way to show the builds so I started on the paint scheme for them
so here's a early look.

Veteran Sgt Jack Fowler.

Sniper Laury Williams.

And the first of the Alternate units

Fire Team member Aun'li

I'll get some better shots soon as I locate my camera charger, so sorry about the low quality pics lately having to use the iPads cam which is crap.

Moved onto the Armsmen while I wait for replies and more paint to arrive which then lead me to run out of white and Boltgun metal so nifty I'm stuck till I can
get to my FLGS anyhoo here is where I got to before the sudden paint shortage.

Oh and I finished the repaint of the Bushmaster I will post pics tomorrow it looks amazing now I'm just waiting for it to dry so I can add some decals.

And next week I'm off to the local hardware store to get some PVC piping and a heat fan to conver the Valk into a Vulture. I'm hoping it will have working fan
and lights if all goes well.

Yer it's looking amazing on the table I got a game in at the local GW a few weeks back during the golden daemon thing anf the army was turing some heads and I won which was a big
boost to my army ego and has spurred me onto fix a few short falls in the composition, including a larger IG base for my flashlight madness and a dropping of the vulture in light of more transport
support, I may even add a 10 TS marine unit which would then allow me access to a Landraider which would look sweet in the IG colours, not to mention the Baneblades whcih are coming my way soon (nearly finished the GK's for my buddy).

To everyone.
Hey guys long time no see type. I've been sorting some stuff out as I mentioned in my Skave blog.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/317903.page

Shameless plug aside I have some new bits coming for this army mostly more fo the same

and some of these.

A new Chimera is also on the cards which I hope to convert to wheels rather than tracks.

I'm off to my local GW on the weekend hopefully I'll get some other bits and bobs

As it stands before all the new stuff I have 25 more guys to paint which will blow out to double that once I get all the parts together.

More from me soon.

Dee. the greens are done I'll take a shot or two and pm them through to you, I'm having a casting issue with them and I'm pretty sure it's the resin I'm using.

The cure time on the fine detail stuff like the pads is to fast using the resin I have now. So the it has no time to settle in the mould before becoming solid I'm hoping to get to the other side of town
(couple of hours drive) to the casting place to see if they have a better choice for this fine a detail stuff, I've spoken to them on the phone and they are pertty sure I'm right about the cure
time/settle issue.

This is also the same issue I'm having with some icons and errata for myself as well, I made some icons for the shoulders of my TS marines but the moulds are just not filling before the resin sets.

If I keep having the issue what I might do is run them up in 3D on my computer and get them cast from a digital printer which is someting I've been umming and arghing about for my skave (make custom armor and gear for them digitally).

but I'll gett he photos to you asap probably today I'm really happy with how they turned out so far and really bummed about this annoying casting problem.

Try keeping the two resin compounds in the fridge, by cooling them down you will extend the work time you have before they harden.

Also make sure to dust the moulds with talc to force the resin to fill out the mould comleteley, it may not be as smooth a finish as a normal cast but at least it will be bubble free.

Oh and Hi!

Thanks guys it's awesome to hear/read that kind of feed back on a project like this.

12 more TS marines are also on the way (Thanks Nick)!

In the mean time a breif rundown on the next pics below.

It's a landraider, how is a LR in a Tyrant legion army well thats easy add ten nomral marines to the army list and you get the added bonus of taking one (1) and only one Heavy Support choice
from the SM codex. Basically a support version of the Tip of the Claw rule Huron gives (where if you include him you get to take a single elite choice from the marine dex).

not quite finished yet, some clean up and decal and a little detail work to go but the damage and main colours are done as well as the primary highlights.

Again if anyone wants a tut on how to do the damage just say so and I'll post one or Pm one through it's quite effective.
