That is fantastic. Nothing better then getting your own scratch build table ready, but the best part is when some one adds to the 40k universe.

Falkenhyn wrote:Great job mate but have you been thinking of makeing the lasguns in to aug steyr's?

Steyr's unfortunately are too small fomramodeling point of view, they look tiny on the models and it's extremely difficult to get the imperial guard arms and hands to match up anywhere
on the mini, which is a shame because that was an idea I ahd way back when this idea first popped into my head, I may look at converting some lasguns (somehow) for the vetran unit if I get to them with so much custom work to do all ready in this army, but ti would be awesome wouldn't it

MeatShield wrote:That is fantastic. Nothing better then getting your own scratch build table ready, but the best part is when some one adds to the 40k universe.

Yeah I'm pleased at how good it came out actually considering the total lack of tools (save a stanley knife and a metal ruler) shame the pics don't do it justice.

As far asadding to 40k well, I've wanted to do an Imperial Guard army for a long time but have always been concerned with how same-ish most are. Either being Cadian or Catachan in your common gaming circles, so having chosen IG I really wanted to make them my own, more than that I wanted whatever idea I used to be Fluff-wise believeable having to need a reason as why now
there were Aussie IG running about the Universe.

Which is where the warp storm idea came(more like pinched) from. Then all I need is enough Humor to be interesting without going overboard (looks back at the Kangaroo rough riders idea...
yeah overboard...) then tie it all together with the story I came up with and "bob's your uncle" we have an Aussie IG force ready to take on and likely get seriously mamed by just about every force in the knonw universe and some we haven't even heard of yet.

-Update-

Elites now locked in as;
Ogryns "Drop Bears"
Dedicated Bushmaster (Chimera) Transport

SASR (Stormtroopers)

Troops now locked in as;
1st Platoon
1 platoon HQ
3 x Infantry Squads
1 x Special Weapon Team
1 x Heavy Weapon Team

Penal Unit "3rd Femantle Brigade"

Vetran Unit "1st Recon"

Fast attack lock in as;
Light Horse (Rough Riders)
Valkyrie Gunship
Sentinal Squadron (three armored Sentinal's modeled after Mad Max buggies)

Heavy support is still up in the air as is HQ but getting a picture in my head of what I want now.

Minor Update - Sgt 01

Test build and paint of a Sgt mini.

Really sorry about the photos I'm trying a new technique out,the issue was not the technique but my kids who have messed witht he camera settings
throwing my white balance completely out the door.

He is supposed to look like he is throwing his bolter away and about to try and riase his chainsword.

geez the photos are bad just completely washed out the detail on his face and everywhere.
sorry!

Started scratch building my Ogryns today then plan is to make a multi part set so I can cast it and then pose each one differently instead of making three separate models from GS and bits.
This gives me the freedom to add bits here and there, to give them some degree of individuality.

So far so good I thinkmy biggest issue will be the Ripper Gun.

Greens so far.

I have added to this since taking the photos he has hair now and a full sized head with expanded cheek bones to give him a bit more bulk.

Also I have a question!
Has anyone used this product before?

Or

Anyway CnC welcome.

Yeah lots of touch ups still to do (mostly green needs a third coat) on it paint the wheels, highlights, more damage, some dusting for sand effects over the drybushed dirt alreay done etc etc etc.

Looking great dude! loving the custom work, the Ogryn has peaked my interest! I quite like the transport it feels only a touch 'off' but I'll wait until she's all done and have a squiz :-) but I really like the ideas the concept the paint job the conversions the heads and the torso's! keep it up, all in all, it's looking excellent!

I've Started adding Weathering to the transport, I will be going for a Dawn of War style heavy wearing on the ground vehicle, especially the Ogryn transport as they would probably treat it with a little
less respect than the commoon ImperialGuardsman.

IfI get time I'll do a new head just for the bonehead mouth closed with a cigar in his hand like a big dumb Creed but we will see, the idea is to make a multi part/option kits that I can mold and
cast asmuch as I need to add diversity and uniqueness, maybe chuck a few around to some Dakka matey's as well, first things first I need ot make a chest and legs

Miss Dee wrote:Have you thought of using the warhammer ogers?

Yeah I did but I desided to go with home made Ogryns, so I can be really unique/ get to pose things just how I like without having to choose the kinda fits options.
Plus it's a challange, I keep giving myself harder and harder things to do with GS the better I'm getting and hopfully faster as well, that head took roughly 45minutes.

Looks fantastic so far, impressive that you are going for a full multi part kit!

As for the ripper guns I just went for an IG grenade launcher ammo drum and a sentinel exhaust for a barrel....not that imaginative.

Whatever you build you should definitely have a chainfeed for them leading back to an ammo pack hanging from their back or belt.

Oh and have you seen the new wheeled Chimera kit from Chapterhouse....I know you like to build your own stuff but they are pretty sweet

Yeah I saw that new Wheeled Chimera kit and I'm going to be picking one up for the wheels whihc will fix the "odd" look of the bushmaster.
I've been thinking about doing somthing with the autocannon like guns from the chaos Defiler kits I have one in bits, and using an exhaust off a
Ork battlewagon for the barrel.

I have finished the head and the two arms (minus some fitting gaps I will fill) and the first left hand for my ogryn kit and I have wired them together to get a feel for how he's
coming along.

I'm deliberately not showing you the back as it's not done prettymuch at all yet, the end result will be a big backpack and down his front will be ammo punches and a gas mask bag like in the pic above in the thread.

I'm making three heads this one which will become the bone head and have a bionic eye after casting and two with the Akubra hat, two left hands one to cup the end of the ripper gun and the other which is currently holding a missile but will eventually hold the beer can grenade.

A fair bit of cleaning up to do but overall he's coming together nicely.

The right shoulder is still unfished which is why it looks so rough sorry about that, you will barely see half of the fabric folds once the ammo packs are on which will really bulk him out as well.

Started on the legs, yes it's a big shoe!

If he is going to be holding a big beer can is going to have the ring pull in his teeth like he has mistaken it for a grenade and is throwing it at the enemy?

What does it have to do with this?
Never try painting Australian flags onto shoulder pads. I can take a pic if you wanna see how bad it can get.

Yeah to true, so if you had to have an Australian symbol for a marine shoulder what would you use? this is a loaded question as I am eagerly awaiting a set of Truescale kits from
our good friends at Chapterhouse (thanks guys) which will be Aussie themed to fit in as allies to this IG army.

Asylum_Inmate wrote:If he is going to be holding a big beer can is going to have the ring pull in his teeth like he has mistaken it for a grenade and is throwing it at the enemy?

There is a ring in his lip that I hope to convert into the ring pull on the can so yes.

I through him together and chucked on some paint so you could see him a little better.

I just ordered some guns from maxmini.eu (frikkin' AWESOME, btw) and they threw in a couple 'samples' of head sculpts, one of which was an Aussie head. I'm sold! The pictures don't really do it justice. Great idea throwing in 'samples'. I'm ordering some now and I hope they do some female heads someday. Normally on stuff like head sculpts I have to actually SEE a real one before I'll throw down cash for 'em.
