Hahaha, fantastic ogryns, so much character! Those Anzac heads look brilliant too In terms of the instantmold - it's a great product, and one hell of a lot quicker than press moulding with green stuff, with a similar level of detail. The same principles as using GS apply though - use some cooking oil or something or you'll never get your original back!

Great work, I'll be following this closely

Cheers for the Tip and comments matey!
I pretty sure I'm going to order some to quickly make weapon casts mostly, the re-useable-ness helps a lot as well.

Cheers bloke, it's sure to end up a nifty looking force I hope it does as well in game as it's going to do on the shelf.

He's my first full GS build so I'm pretty happy, though I can see a lot of mistakes and a lot of areas where I could have taken a bit more time and cleaned it up some more.
But I've learnt heaps on this build hopefully that will show on the next one and on and on.

I slapped some paint on him to see how he scrubs up in colour.

Nice progress on the ogryn. Despite what you said about mistakes, and rushing, I still like the sculpt.

I was sure I'd seen some Aussie Light Horse models out there turned out I had these guys http://www.brigadegames.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=BG-WIEB85&Store_Code=BGAHSL. The Ogryn sculpt is pretty nifty. I'll look closer at the Max Mini heads. The bushmaster is looking pretty impressive. Oh and I have to second Steve Irwin Daemon Hunter (watch out for Screamers mind).

He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. Thanks, there is a lot I find myself nit picking about the build but it really is a good step forward in my scuplting attemps.

Perkustin wrote:Streuth! That Aussies Ogryn's a Beaut!

Cheers matey, he's a bit bigger than I was originally going for but he'll make an excellent Bone head, once I get the actual Ogryns I'll cast some bits and make them all Aussie.

I had a look at those from Brigade at a local hobby store, they are built to actual scale and are slightly too small for the GW mini to sit on unfortunately. I'm of twominds at the moment one get Empire Outriders which are known to fit with IG mini's or two use cold ones as I have them already... what do you think?

As for Steve the daemon hunter I could convert a bloodletter into a croc shape for this base.

Yea he has big feet haha, I will be fixing that once I get the actual Orgyns for the unit, so I can match the scale a little closer.

Ok so the big question I have for you guys is, Horses or Cold ones? why am I thinking cold ones??? well I have some thats a start but they are also kinda Kangaroo shaped (kinda I did say Kinda)
so I feel they fit in just as well, on top of that every IG army and his dog has horses so it would be a bit of a unique hint to them as well.

Please let em know what you think .

Personally I see way more people using cold ones then horses, So I say horses since Light Cold Ones just sounds werid lol.

But then again your going for an aussie feel to the army and cold ones would proberbly fit in since it is wacky...just change the name.

Damn I can't make up my mind and its not even my army.

Model the cold ones as massive Goannas and it may work.
They acually look pretty similar, I know, I went on camp 2 weeks ago and some ate another groups' food!

That ogryn looks way better with paint on him, too!

Certainly like what you've done thus far mate.

With regards to the Rough Riders; perhaps you could GS the Cold Ones a bit to change their appearance?

After all didn't Australia have giant lizards at one point?

They could've been natural predators on your regiment's homeworld, perhaps one of the reason why it got selected as a penal colony. Over time some were tamed and adapted as guard dogs and then ended up becoming riding mounts.

Just a thought.

Nice I really like the Rocket Launcher pose. I'd consider going with a mix of cold ones for sergeant or the heavy cavalry and horses for the light cav.

My plan with them is to addalot of battle damage, as there is so much more workable space on these
kits Vs the standard GW marine I should be able to make them look really battle beaten.

I'm also going for a more realistic paint scheme which I hope will tie themnicely to the rest of the army as well.

Cheers matey, I still have a bit more work on him to go, mostly on his shoulders and tidy up his right knee a bit better (my 5 year old tried to paint it)
then I can finish off his highlights and seal the paint with a mat finish.

I wanted him to look beaten or barely maintained. His 4 buddies will all be carrying bolters and the captain will likely have a thunder hammer and stormsheild or somekind of
storm bolter power weapon combo.

The footsloggers could maybe do with a few more pouches are their wastes etc to bulk them out a bit more, but those torsos are a great, more practical, alternative to the Cadian ones. They still look a little too Cadian though to me, though that might be what your going for-seeing as so many regiments use their equiptment-, but you could have a go at reshaping the shoulder pads a bit to make them a little different and perhaps work on the lasguns a little to make them look a little less high-tec if your going for the early 20th centuary look? The marine's cool (is that plasma gun counting as a pistol...or do you just like big swords? ^^), but for his scale you might want to look for a larger base- he looks like he's trying to balance himself on it a little. Fine blog though, and its great seeing that marine standing heads over that guardsman like he's supposed to.
