I started building the giant last night.. not sure how I wanna gargamelify him. I can do some greenstuff hair I guess, but gargamel wears a robe and the giant has his beer belly sticking out.. if I did a greenstuff robe the model would be ruined, not that good at sculpting. And then there's his red shoes, and greenstuffing wads around his feet will look dumb.

I could just paint his ripped up pants black, but I don't think that'll look too good.

Maybe I could just do a conversion with the plastic empire wizard and count him as a shaman? and then just paint the giant normal. I could also give the giant blue skin & white cloths too but that might look too silly

Too silly? It would be... Er... Silly of course, but really, isn't this army pretty much all about silliness?

But concerning Gargamel... Yes, it would probably be best to make him as a shaman or something. Just make sure he has his smurf-eating cat with him. Neferata has got a cat not modelled on her in some way...

yeah that's true, for this army silly = better. Gonna be converting my rock lobbas to be Smurfberry Bombas too one day

I might see if I can do the giant with normal skin, but with snotlings crawling all over him with buckets trying to paint him blue so he matches.. dunno how I'll pull that off but I'll see how it goes. guess I'll order some snotlings and see what I can do.

How about using Black Smurfs as Night Goblin Fanatics since in the comic they essentially have gone mad do to an insect's venom.

hmm that could work. I have a bunch of old metal fanatics. I was going to try and convert them so instead of a metal ball they're swinging squigs.

Yes. That is probably the best option

I finished my Ginormous Arachnasmurf howdah and crew today so it's finally all done. Here he is

And here it is with a shaman on top, I left the shaman's platform unglued so I can use it as a rare choice as just the spider, or as the shaman mount. I used the shaman from Skull's Pass since I have 2 of them, so I can have that guy on foot if he's not riding his spider.

you can click that pic for the super big version

and here's a close up of the smurfs on top

This is great. What a sight these will be on the gaming tables. I'm hoping you make the Smurf village to fight with on the table top!

I was looking at this for terrain from armorcast
http://armorcast.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=481

but i don't really play much at my place or do touranments where I'd want something like that on a display board. I'll probably pick up a couple for fun

The spider? If you look on page 1 I have a WIP shot of him where I put the recipe for the paint job I did. The goblins on top were done same as the spearmen, I just didn't get a chance to finish them till now.

Working on some dust tactics stuff now and then I'll switch back. I want to get my other unit of 50 spears done, but it will take a while. I'll probably just do 10 at a time till I finally get them done.

Oh .. the skin is done with Ultramarines blue for a base coat, washed with badab black, and then drybrushed with Ice blue for highlights. The robes are just skull white, badab black and then skull white again drybrushed pretty quick and easy

Got some more done here are the first 10 out of my next horde of 50 Spearsmurfs. The standard on the left is a BSB named Bossy Smurf, and the shaman on the right is Mojo Smurf.

And also, here is Popa Smurf. Popa is the only orc in the whole clan and the shaman responsible for praying to Tzeentch so much that he got mad and turned everyone's skin blue, just to get Popa to leave him alone... but it didn't work. Now Popa loves chaos and got all his blue goblin friends to join him on his Waaaagh, to bring doom to Smurfberry Forest.

Been way too long, cuz I've been way too busy :( But, I managed to finish Hoppy Smurf. He'll be a big boss or warboss depending on the game, and I'll probably have him pal around with the unit of 7 normal hoppers I still have to paint, so it'll be Hoppy Smurf 'n da Hoppas. Gonna do all my squigs in the same green so they all match. It's just dark angels green for the top and rotting flesh on the bottom with some blending in the middle with my usual coat of badab black over everything.

Happy Chrismahaunikwanzica!

thanks I still have so much to do though, kinda daunting seeing all the unpainted stuff sitting on the shelf with such a teeny bit painted next to em. I'm gonna try and force myself to get at least 1 unit or big thing painted each month.

Finished my mangler squigs today Took pics going all around since there's so much going on with this model. And I added a pic of everything I have painted for the army so far, which isn't as much as I'd like :( I have about 2x that still on the shelf waiting for paint... I think next I'll work on some more spearsmurfs, got another 40 of them to do for my 2nd big unit of 50.

Wadaya think?

Wow I really like the blue skin on Orcs and Goblins. The shiny eyes on the spider are really fantastic as well.

Thanks and yeah, i'm surprised how good orcs can look with blue skin instead of green. Wish I had the skills & time to make em look even better but all I have the patience for is washes and drybrushing
