Hey thank you both! I want to thank everyone for all the feedback, positive and negitive. It makes me a better artist I think. Here is a quick update. I had surgery today so today and yesterday I have not touched a paint brush due to not feeling well. Even the simplest surgery and surgery prep takes a toll on someone. I am fine btw nothing serious. So what have I done??? Well I got a surprise land raider built yesterday, working a couple little details out on it. I also remade 4 terminators (magnitizing flashing etc) because my other 4 were ruined and the paint did not stripe right. I might use them, but at a later date. Today I am fully magnitizing 20 grey knights...fully as in backpacks, and ALL arms. I will be able to make ANY grey knight squad in the dex just from the models I have...pretty nice. This is the first 100% magnitized army I have done, usually its just the terminators.

Tomorrow I should be fully recouped from being knocked out, and should be able to paint my 4 terminators..at least 2 lol.

Anyways thank you for the feedback and please keep it coming.

That paint scheme is stunning. An original take that fits the theme and look of the models perfectly. I have to wonder where your bases are from though, or if you're handmaking them/

The color scheme is very good and the work on the bases really pays off. That dreadknight is my favorite. I agree with some of the others also I think you should keep them quite clean in the look. For me at least, grey knights are knights in shiny armor and if you go away from the metals keep the shine

I have made bases in the past, but doing so takes a lot longer to do. I have a deadline at the end of July for a tournament an this army has to be done, so I bought the bases at http://www.dragonforge.com/ I drilled holes in the underneath also, and put magnets in so they stick to the display board. I hate carrying my board and my models tumbling around. I luckly only have 30 models after my last 2 terminators are done! I plan on posting some pics in the next 2 days.

Thank you everyone for all the comments; it seems the bases are better then the models though LOL. I bought an airbrush, so my vehicles are going to be done with that; they are primed, wired, and ready to roll out! I think I am about 100% sure now I am going with the Superman S symbol as the "chapter" symbol. This army can't be grey knights according to fluff since they are alternate colors. Also why are grey knights not called silver knights since everyone does them in silver?

Ah! I didn't recognize the Lost Empire set... you did an excellent job with the paintscheme on them. Again, fantastic work.

Thank you both! Well I got some bad news and some good news. The good news is all my terminators are done, and the pictures are ready to go. The bad news is the Internet is out at my house and I can't load the pictures up yet...it's going to be a couple days I think before it comes back on. Photo bucket is not giving me an option to upload pictures from my iPad @ mcdonalds so we have to wait.

Ok the interdnet is back up! Here are my pictures I promised. I hope you guys like them. Group shot has the HQ and the Heavy weapon in it. The HQ paint scheme actually looks really good next to the rest of these guys imo.

I like the color scheme variation, but am especially impressed with your power swords. In particular the one on your HQ! Most impressive technique... Too bad Tau don't have powerswords, otherwise I'd steal that look for sure

Hey thank you both! I am working on purifiers now. I have the backpacks done, and the shoulder pads about 70% complete. When I post those pictures I am going to def. need feedback on the shoulder pads...right now they semi clash, so I am going to need to bring them together. I am hoping to have the 10 man squad done really soon.

Ok do you want the honest truth?

There is nothing wronf with your colours but they are not blended. The high light and the base colour is very seperate. Also you don't have any straight lines, everything is blobby.

There are some good bits, the sword and the hammer and the gun smoke/fire/explosion.

Also instead of painting on the gun holes you can drill them out.

Its like you spend a great deal of time on some shading and left the rest to a 3 years old to finnish.

Also another suggestion is that green and red is not the best blend of colours, it Just makes it unrealistic.

Basiclly spend a lot more time and patience on your models.

The green and red I assume your talking about the heavy weapons terminator? If so I was not sure of those colors either and was waiting to see if anyone else felt the same. What colors would you suggest? I'm thinking change green to yellow...red to dunno. I am open for suggestions.

Everything is blended I assure you from dark brown to the belch bone. The backs of the models is where most of the light is hitting these guys. That is why they are the lightest and not blended. There was nothing to blend on that part...I'd say that's my painting style. If this bothers you then your going to hate my purifiers lol. If your talking about blending white into the bone, I do that when needed. Most of the time the colors are so close I done need to. The camera is better at separating colors then the naked eye.

As for the straight lines, I think I see what your talking about...not sure though so an example would be awesome so I can correct this.

Drilling the gun barrels I have done in the past, and I have done the way I'm doing on these so far. I think it's a preference thing, and I will prob. Go-ahead and bore them out, thank you for that suggestion...I'm still debating.

I'm not sure what part of the model looks like a 3 year old painted, but that is something I need to fix...that tells me that it looks horrid somewhere, and that's not acceptable in my world.

Thank you for your feedback, and I hope you can clarify on the things I asked about. Need honest feedback so thank you.

The straight lines - gun barrels you tried to draw a circle and its hard to do that and so thats why its thick and thin and the (lol I guess its not a straight line I guess I meant the colours are not seperated by a smooth edge), that why I suggested drilling it because its easier.

The back of termi's legs, (you said the camera is better at separating colors then the naked eye) If you think its fine then It should be ok, unless someone take a super close look at them. You can always put a wash on and that way it will blend the colours together so there isn't a sharp colour change.

I know I sound contradictory by saying blend colours but also saying define them. I hope you understand what I mean. Different parts needs different style of painting.

When I said 3 years old, I was talking about the highlighting on the armour and mainly the gun. It could be the camera but also I can see you only did one highlight. Normally people do atleast a few.

e.g. Bleach bone, 50/50 bleach bone and white, white. The more layers the more smoother it looks.

Either stick with red for the whole gun or try black. its better to keep everything simmilar. Too many colours just make it look out of place.

Ok so the main problem your seeing is the guns it sounds like. I have never tried highlighting guns, usually I just dry brush boltgun metal on black an call it a day. I am trying to do them the correct way. I was going to do the heavy weapons with red guns and the rest of the army black. I guess I will do the entire army in red guns since I know those highkights. Unless you have a sugestion on what to highlight the black guns with? Grey then white?

This is a picture of my first completed Purifer. I changed the gun up a little bit from the other models per some feedback. Please let me know if this looks better. Mainly the black gun with grey highlights an a little white highlights. If this method is prefered then I will redo the terminators to match this. As for the other things like boreing the barrels, I did it on the heavy weapons, but my drill bit was to big for the bolters...so thats a no go. I will change the lighting and weapons on the one terminators once the entire army is done. As for my method of highlighting the body of the model, be gentle lol first attempt at this style. I plan on doing the reg marines like this. The shoulders are purley for the purifiers, not the grey knights.

Thoughts on this guy? I'm starting bodies today so hopefully this is a good style of shading.

There is nothing wrong with the purifiers but did you put any wash on?

That is always a easy fast way of making a model look nice.

Try a lightish wash, because you used alot of white.

Hey thank you for the feedback Marthike. I actually did use a light devlan mud wash, but on the brown part. I eged in white, so you might be seeing the bleeched bone? I tried putting wash on that part, but I ended up covering it when I went back to smooth it out.

I took another look at the terminators back sides, and I am going to be darkening up some spots per your advice. I wont get to it till after the army is done. I have an end of jul deadline for a tournament, so I need to get as much done before any touch-ups.

I hope I get some more feed back from more dakka members!
