Yeah, Killkrazy is one of the good ones IMHO. In fact, I'd echo the sentiment expressed by others that all the mods here are fairly relaxed... though I do question the threatening use of Weiner Dogs by a certain individual.

its not automatic. There's actually a quick reaction team of weiner dogs surfing all our communication channels for just sucha contingency. Unfortunately with their paws they can't type very well and have to frequently retype the Frazzled alert, hence the delay.

But since you asked. Team Weinie is in Houston this week visting grandma Frazzled (They have to be nice, she's way meaner than me). In one day Rodney the Shanker managed to: 1) get trapped inside a bathing suit and end up hanging on a door knob; 2) get trapped in the adjoining swimming bag and end up hanging on a doorknob; 3) fall off the back of a sofa into the window behind it; 4) steal a hamburger; 5) steal half a cup of milk; 6) get trapped in a bush and have to wait until Grandma Frazzled's tank of a dog wandered over and rescued him. Yea that was one freaking day.

Management here doesn't take kindly to criticism of the moderation team and sees their decisions as final and correct no matter what, even when the community vocally states otherwise.


Take it from someone who has made a complaint about the moderation to Yakface: it will result in nothing. You'll get a nicely worded form letter basically telling you that they were right and their job is to ensure a friendly community and whatnot, and if you argue further than this letter, its a three day ban (those are fun, got a lot of painting done)

The 25 bucks is a good idea if you can afford it, it appears top let users get away with a lot more flaming than not being a DCM does, plus it gives you access to SUPAR SEKRIT FORUMZ.

I cannot justify paying to allow someone to flame me without being allowed to say anything back that won't result in at least a three day ban for me.

Bunker, can I suggest skipping forward 10 years to the age where you don't really care about what people say on the internet. Studies show that it decreases your anger about life in general by 37%.

I have to say that contrary to Bunker's post I have found the mod team here to be pretty reasonable (if a little quick to shut down threads about religious matters and people talking negatively about America on occasion ).

Some forums are an absolute nightmare for modderators abusing their powers.

I think the Mod Team here on Dakka is pretty decent. In fact a lot of the members are more than decent (and IMO Rather brilliantly witty too)

You could just be an adult and ask why things have been locked/edited? To the mod in question. I mean being adult about things is always good.

Otherwise it looks like the weiner dogs will get you...

I wasn't aware the 'community' had ever come to any such consensus regarding the Mod team. In fact, judging by the responses in this thread, whilst by no means exhaustive, seem to prove the very opposite of what you are suggesting. But hey, don't let that stop you from running the mod team into the ground if that's your wont. Just don't let that chip on your shoulder that you seem to carry around with regard to modding on this site weigh you down.

On the whole, I would suggest the mod team do a pretty good job and lets be clear, its a pretty thankless task. You will never please all of the people, all of the time. Those who think the mod team should be impartial need to get a grip; there is not a human alive who doesn't have some degree of bias and opinion. There is no true neutral and certain opinions will always polarise.

Ultimately, a forum is the owner and mod's sandbox. They wield ultimate control of who posts, what they post, etc.

Still, if you have have an issue, let the mods know. If you want, you could try escalating to LegoBurner or Yakface, but I wouldn't do so without a 'firm case.' Make sure you have clear posts you can point to, etc.

In general the mods here seem to do a pretty good job. Sure, there's inmates running the asylum at times, but that's par for the course as everyone on the forum is somewhat passionate about wargaming. I hate being a forum moderator over at DP9 a lot of the time: I don't get to read 'for fun' as much. That forum is a little different as it is run by the company, but I still try to keep moderation as public and as light as possible.

You should only really contact Mr. Legoburner with regards to technical issues, whereas people related ones -- such as the behaviour of the MODs or another poster or posters should indeed be directed towards Mr. Yakface if you think another MOD cannot help.

They might not get back to you instantly, but all messages are read and considered. Honest.
