Nay, Wiener dogs. It takes a wiener dog to face down the decepticon menace. Plus they are really short so are actually impossible to hit...

I must say, after all the bad nonsense I'm actually slightly jazzed to see it when it comes out on DVD. As a bad B movie with a lot of booze, it will be perfect for the new TV.

You realise that isn't a function of the actress, right? That it was just what got put in the script for her, and they could have easily written the same stuff for Megan Fox's character, yeah?

Haters gonna hate

And people hate Megan Fox. I didn't particularly mind her that much. She's as pointless as most actresses in the typical hollywood blockbuster. The new chick is just as pointless but she's not Megan Fox, so she gets more credit for not actually doing anything. People don't much like Shia Lebufferguy either but I don't mind him much too. I actually thought he was pretty good in Transformers 1 but I never claim to be an expert on good actors and bad actors

I can't stand Jason Statham but I don't actually see how this franchise can sink any lower than it already has.

Plat, you are being an apologist because you are such a big transformers fan. It's ok, but seriously, TF3 was garbage.

Just take solace in the fact that the 2007 Transformers was actually good, forget TF2 and TF3 (just like the X-men fans forget about X-3), and just go back to watching Optimus Prime kick ass animated style to "You Got the Touch".

That's what the rest of us (or me) are doing.

But I digress. The least they could do is give Bay the boot in the butt he needs and grab someone with a propr grasp of story structure and non-corny dialogue mostly based on cheap quippy one liners.

Pretty much. I mean, I know Megan Fox can't act, but that's because I got stuck watching that terrible Simon Pegg movie where he's in Hollywood for a reason I can't remember. While her parts in the first two Transformers movies were pointless and unconvincing, that's because they were written like that. Consider the wealth of fantastic actors they have in the third movie, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, John Turturro... I haven't seen the third transformers, but I'd guess none of them get time to really show their talent, because it really isn't that kind of movie.

I actually thought Shia LeBeouff had a bit of talent, though it was hard to notice it in the noise bright light shows of Transformers and the last Indiana Jones movie. But then I saw his, well, kind of boring and pointless take in Wall Street 2. Now I'm not convinced there's much to him.

Mayhaps, but I never actually said it was good, either. I said Rosie was better than Megan.

Can't say I believe this rumour, but in regards to the other conversations I liked TF3. I thought TF2 was blisteringly stupid and full of giant gaping plot holes and insultingly bad plotting and logical inconsistencies (and even chronological inconsistencies)... but I liked TF3. And I liked the new girl better than Fox, and I felt she was involved in the story rather than just being window-dressing. She has a really weird nose though...

I just want a Transformers movie where the actual Transformers have more than an extended cameo.

Sounds good, I think I'd watch that. Does Grimlock transform into a furry purple T-rex?

The humans kinda haveta be in the lead role in these movies because average moviegoing audiences need characters to identify with, and alien shapeshifting robots aren't it. You can get away with it in a cheap cartoon that doesn't need big audiences to pay for itself. Also, every second of screen time for the robots starts money flying out the door, and Michael Bay is apparently pretty good about keeping studios happy by bringing movies in under budget (granted, he usually has a large budget to work with).

Haven't seen the new one yet, but I personally keep it in perspective when people say how bad TF2 was or how Megan Fox can't act. These things may be true, but Hollywood produces plenty of movies that are bad AND less entertaining, and plenty of actresses that can't act AND aren't as easy on the eyes.

They should be in. They shouldn't be the main characters. With good writing, the Autobots can be great protagonists, the animated shows have shown that, even when they have a human component.

Are there any Transformers shows where there wasn't a human component? Even Headmasters had Daniel Witwicky (as annoying as that little gak was). Did Beast Machines or whatever the one that followed G1 was called have any human characters?

Either way, a human component is fine. A human component at the expense of the Transformer component is not fine.

Beast Wars had no human characters as far as I know. They were in the show (prehistoric) but they weren't important characters.

Beast Wars had no human characters, but protohumans did show up from time to time.

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Protohuman

Basically, they were relegated to prey for Predacons(because they would evolve into a species that would become important enough to affect the Great War so Megatron decided to wipe them out before that happened) that the Maximals needed to protect.
