Thanks guys!
Balsak: Thought somenone would notice. :-D It's the codpiece from the original pilot. Actually the new codpiece on the banner, is a shoulder pad, so it also has a lot of upside down words. I guess I'll fix it sometime. I don't have access to green stuff right now.
The reason why I used a small shield, was to make sure it wouldn't attract too much attention, away from the head, since the head isn't incredibly large.
Feel free to steal any and all ideas. I can't really take credit for the loincloth, I saw it somewhere on the net.

That dreadknight is delicious, such an improvement over the standard model.
|
The best thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's far too late to stop reading it. |

Thanks a lot, guys - I am really overwhelmed by the response. :-)
Unfortunately, I've been sick the past couple days (clogged sinuses - I think its called? Snot all over, and makes my head hurt. :-( ), so I haven't gotten any further. I'll update as soon as I get more done.
In the meantime: How come dakka keeps logging me off? I've checked off the box "keep me logged in on this computer"?
Also, to the guys inspired by my conversion; I'd really love to see what you will do with the kit - please feel welcome to post some pics in this thread. :-)

Looks like a really cool conversion. I like it. How are you going to paint it? Are you going to do it the same as your other GK or are you going to do it the more traditional way?
Looks great.

I had been planning to do that same color scheme, but you did it masterfully!
Another thing, With this scheme, it feels almost steampunk. This gave me inspiration for another dreadknight. Where the pistons are replaced by cogs!
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/255859-Highlighting%20pistons.html
By removing the highlighted pistons, and then placing appropriately sized cogs in it's place!

What does the community think?
BTW, love the dreadknight!
More cheese for you!

Thanks all! Really appreciate the comments. Unfortunately, I'm still at home sick, so there's not really any progress.
Byte wrote:This thread is inspiring to me.

I'm more of a modeler and painter, than a player, so I probably won't make another one. However, I can try to explain how I did it.
I've tried to put together a pic, so you can see where the parts come from. As mentioned earlier, the head is from an old Epic Titan, but I'm sure you could find a suitable replacement - maybe a toy?
Here goes:
Please ask, if you're in doubt. Some of the parts have been cut up a bit, but it should make sense.
Edit: "5" on the pic, are GK terminator shoulder shields filed smooth.
I repositioned the legs, by drilling the the inserts in the hip, so they became a ball joint, and carefully carved the hip joint on the thighs into a ball as well. The feet are already ball jointed, so that's pretty easy. It's a great simple way to make it more dynamic.
Thanks man! I think I can se where you're going with the cogs, but I'd love to see it done. Please make one.
(Whats up with the cheese? )

I like it a lot more than the normal. The normal dreadknight is just silly, and the bald head is like asking for a bullet in the head hehe.
This looks like a real knight! The painting is awesome also, not the usual metal theme.

Wasn't sure at first as it was missing on the main points of the dreadknight that I liked, that's the pilots arms mirroring the machines. But now you got some paint on it's turning out awesome. Very cool colour scheme.
