Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

Here's an idea:
(the moon was done with paint, because I was feeling lazy at the moment).

While as awesome as that is,I think it is beyound my abitly to paint that at 1mm
Besides that is why I put it on the left side
Tonight I finished his hearldry on his right knee.
From upper left
Terminator Honors,Necromundian Spider with T for Traizor Hive,Tyrannid symbol as he was in one of the first major exploratory battles as a scout,Command Skull
I have also painted the wrist comp dark angel green and coated it with Micro Kristal Klear to add a layer of glass on top

The head and heraldry look freakin' fantastic. I think the tattoo looks fine, however, a crescent may be easier to understand. Either, way, SUPER awesome. Close up, that paint looks really bumpy. Are you planning on going over it with a thin wash? Or is it fine the way it is? I know the model is larger scale so some chunks might be less noticeable.

Either way, WAY awesome!

The final basecoat is finished, just a few touch ups and then highlighting a few hard edges and the mask will be ready to remove.
The gold is far from finished still needs a few good washings

Excellent work thus far! I don't know how I've missed it for this long!

If you want my opinion in the studs, feel free to check it out. If you've had too much alread, skip the spoiler and move on
Spoiler:

I also think they stick out too far, imho

Eisenhorn wrote:Also does this look like an olive completion to you or do I need to work it some more?

I think the face is looking great! I wouldn't have said "olive" for the skin sone, so maybe a bit more work. I'm not really sure what you can do at this point, though. A wash is going to be too drastic unless you make your own.

For the tattoo, I would recommend having the fingers wrap around the moon some (so that it's easier to see that it's a hand) and have the blood be a single drop (also so that it's easier to see that it's blood)

Keep it up!

Cheers,
Rawson

I have already done that Rawson good call.
I always make my own washes, to olive it out I plan to use Seipa/Green 80/20 with and equal amout of water.
The only paint that was used was Dark Flesh under coat and Tallern Flesh base coat everything else is washes.
You see even more tonal differences in person

I just started TRYING to remove the mask, gotta admit not going too well,he is going to need TLC

Ok I removed the mask best I could,I have to remember to apply it thicker next time, all in all ok battle damage.
I had hoped for better honestly, but I works with what I got besides,if I ever want to redo it Laquer Thinner does not destroy resin.
I am trying to neaten up the chips and highlight them

I know it's not ready yet, but you should put more paint chips on the backpack aswell.

Everything else is perfect.

I started with the oil paints and I pulled a Bob Ross,he is looking great again

The backpack is one of the areas where the masking fluid would not come up.
Like I said I think where I went wrong is I let everything dry for a couple days so the paint got hard.
I should of removed the mask as soon as I was finished painting and it is touch dry.

Liquid Masking agents work best when applied to a glossy surface. Was the model still flat, or did you coat it before you applied the mask?

I did not know that about the glossy surface, makes perfect sense when you think about it.
The chipping ended up turning out really good after all,I forgot how powerful oil paints are.
I used Transperant Red Oxide to tint the yellow for subtle shading, and made my own Paynes Grey using Burnt Umber,Blue,Black oil paints for anything steel colored.
Burnt Sienna and MIG standard rust was used for the streaks, with me using a thinner damp brush to drag downward.
I also used MIG Rainmarks for subtle streaking where there is no rust.

I will touch it up,highlight it too so you can see what it is.
An Imperial Fist symbol in Circle with Lexandro in scroll.
I admit it looks like an upside down arrow right now.
I also have to paint the servive studs.

Honestly, I don't mind the eyes looking up. It makes me feel like there is something bigger going as opposed to him just posing for the camera, so to speak. The battle damage, dust, mud etc looks top-notch.

In regards to the olive skin I think you got it down just right. He looks more Mediterranean now, which is what you were going for I think.

I am eager to see how the Imperial Fists symbol and scroll turn out. I can see it in the image, even though it just looks like an arrow atm. Either way, I am VERY impressed.

Let's say he's watching a thunderhawk fly over on its way to drop firey death on the approaching enemy, or maybe looking up at a stompa on its way towards him thinking how he can dismantle it

Nice work.
