The local games store is saying Necrons in November. They've always been reliable - including not making long-term predictions about releases (because GW themselves don't have a fixed production schedule). If they don't appear then I'd be prepared to start believing there's something in the rumours about releases being delayed.

This sums it up perfectly. I know in my heart of hearts this will happen. Reveal/Preorders on the 22nd or 29th. That's only 3 weeks away...

Not too far away... I hope. By the way, I have not been able to get my hands on October's White Dwarf yet, is there no indication at all in the last page about any November release? You know like that funny Wanted poster printed for the dread fleet game.

Nothing like that just dreadfleet pics on this back inside and a Dreadfleet sea chart art work thing on the back. I even had a good look at it for clues but nothing relevant I could see. Only 40k in the whole mag is SoB Battle Missions.

Are you thinking a week before reveal then? More likely to be in White Dwarf on the 29th Oct.

If i remember correctly back when this closed-door policy of GW was being implemented, and the black boxes were no longer being sent to stores, the rumor mill (or maybe the press release hell i don't remember all the facts) made mention that all new releases would be previewed with 1 week for pre orders, then the black boxes would arrive on release day (kinda stupid right?) with the codex and new units.

If any sort of reveal comes up by the 22nd then Late october halloweeny necrons might just be on the plate (that's the optimism). A reveal on the 29th probably means the 5th of november is more likely necron day (which most rumors point to, as well)

I will freely admit to buying more Necron Immortals in order to fluff out my army. I am afraid of new Immortals that have "bling." Not mine! If I get new ones I will file the damn Bling off of them!

Sorry.

The secrecy seems like a bad tactic to me. It is not how you get buzz. You get buzz by leaking little bits and peices onto the internet. Think of what these forums would be like if they gave us blurry pics of the Necrons like they did the Dark Eldar last year. We would be killing puppies to buy them then they came out! Cute adorable puppies, dead because some nerds wanted some small plastic figures.

That must be why they are keeping us in the dark. They are looking out for the puppies.

I would say that it seems to be necrons next as thing back the last few months its all we heard about ( unless they finally give me my god damn tervigon ) so what do you think they'll done release why's a small wave at the beginning of the month then another at the end like DE ? It just one big wave ?

Plus it's fairly credible that a GW marketing campaign for their biggest release would fit on one side of A4 - Flashman

Right when i'm getting decent playing Tau (aka win/loss is about 50%) here comes the book that i bought models for back in May of 2011....I can't complain though, because I really need a tournament army.

Here's crossing my fingers that the next 3 weeks don't take forever!

The funny thing is, they didn't even do that, fans did. And that kind of thing pissed them off to the point where we have this stupid "no news" policy. This is why pre-orders don't ship until after the release date, why you can't get your White Dwarf (even if you're a subscriber) until after everyone else buys theirs from the store, etc.

GW doesn't like hype, since apparently it hurts their bottom-line. Because you know, saving in anticipation for the new DE probably cost them thousands in sales of the old DE models that no one was buying anyway because they looked like gak. If the new range and codex weren't spoiled when they were then we all would have kept happily buying the old DE that we lost interest in after they'd sat around for a decade without a single ounce of attention.

It just seems like greed, pure and simple. They don't like showing us new stuff because it means they might lose sales on the old stuff, from people who hold on to their money and buy the new kits instead of wasting it on the old, ugly ones and having to replace it in a few months. Although this isn't always the case, sometimes it could encourage sales of existing models since some people like what's currently being offered and want to get it before it's gone, but I suspect GW bean counters don't care, it's the people not buying that make them gak themselves in rage, as they fully expect everyone to buy the current crop of models and the new ones when they're released. Just knowing that the new model will sell isn't good enough.

Honestly though I'm kind of curious to see what new Necrons look like. If the current plastics aren't getting replaced them I'm assuming it means no radical design changes or anything, but still.

My second army will be necrons. So I'm still waiting!

I honestly can't see them changing the plastic warriors much. Even if they do, the little changes they make will be minimal, surely?

I wanna see something new

What old stuff? If I wanted to buy Necron Pariahs, Flayed Ones, or even the Codex itself, I can't! Games Workshop isn't selling me anything even if I were ignorant/willing because I simply cannot buy it. These models are "No Longer Available".

Necrons will be announced Halloween weekend, like on that Friday or Saturday, and will be in Novembers White Dwarf.

From what I understand its less "Don't tell them so they don't get excited" and more "Don't tell them so people don't form massive preconceptions about the new models based off grainy pictures months before they a released."

That doesn't explain why they're not letting subscribers have their copies of WD until after it goes on sale in stores, though.

That is just part of their masterful plan to reduce the number of subscriptions and lower WD sales.

"Officially" the story is that it's because of the vagueries of the postal services. Some people would get theirs weeks in advance, some weeks later.

Now, they mail it all at once and hope for the best.

The only reason to get a WD subscribtion is to get it a week ahead, and now they took it away. No use getting one now.

I still haven't gotten my latest WD.. I know it was delayed because some marketing genius thought it was a good idea, but still.

Subscription runs out in december, not gonna renew.

Not replying to you but just this subject in general... why release grainy pictures in the first place? I highly doubt those grainy pictures in the past were cellphone pics from a fanboy that knows someone who knows someone who knows someone that let them see the pictures before anyone else. Musta been another marketing genius that though that was a good idea. Why not just give real previews so people can, I dunno, look forward to buying your products?

I got mine at home on Oct. 7. Not too bad, but not happy at all about the new GW Corporate philosophy on White Dwarf mailing or a pile of other changes made this year. I have a year to go and when my subscription ends I may let it lapse for the first time in more than 2 decades. I've never felt this dispirited about GW before.

Interestingly, the releases from the GW design studio in many ways are better than ever the past couple years. There seems to be an inverse relationship between the creative studio and the marketing and business departments. The better the creativity from the designers the worse customers are treated when it comes to communication, service and prices.

Or they could look a little to the left.
WotC is a master of the marketing game. The hypes the build up around the M:TG releases, especially the new sets, probably rival those of the Apple Drones (taken the scale of the respective demographics into account.) The hype is so big that there are people frantically scouring websites all over the world, English, German, Japanese, Russion, whatever, for little hints that got leaked to that sites by WotC. There are people that spend hours with the Orb of Insight, a little thing that lets you search for words or numbers and gives you the exact number of times this word appears in the entire set, and those numbers they then craft into statistics, so that other people can spend hours analyzing them and predicitng what the set contains.
The hype is so big, there are people that intentionally shout themselves out of the previews, so they can enjoy the release unspoiled.
And you bet that that stuff sells like sliced bread.

The reason we have a "no news" policy is because of over-reacting folks who claim the sky is falling with the slightest bit of info, whether it is true or not. Just check any single rumor on any forum and any perceived rules change brings massive speculation which 5 posts down becomes "fact" and people decry the new army as broken, nerfed, and ruining their army(sometimes all at once) before there's ANY indication how it works in conjunction with the rest of the rules. This is all assuming the rumor even turns out to be true. It happens every time, without fail.

I'm not saying GW's policy is good, but browsing forums for a good number of years, and moderating rumors forums at TO when it was still around I saw enough to realize that people's overreactions affected other's perception of new releases, and led to a snowball affect where people had made up their minds before anything was released, and in that regard I can see why GW would want to hold back on releasing info ahead of time.

From a purchasing standpoint I do find it frustrating, though. I want to know roughly what's coming down the pipeline, just so I can budget, if needed, for a release I'm interested in.

What I can't believe is that the OP thought he would get any other answer from a GW phone Troll... What did you think you where going to be told in hushed tones and wispers , " I got some secret info for you, hold off on your Necron pruchaces there are new models comming out...now go forth to this 'internet' thingy and let this info blow way out of control MUHAHAHAHAHAH!"

Of course they are going to tell you to keep on buying the necron warrior box.
