You will be disappointed that some models only get converted to finecast.
You will be happy with "new" old models.
Big Necron model is more impressive than I thought, visually. Hope it has rules to back it up.

This is all assuming the rumor even turns out to be true. It happens every time, without fail.
Ugh, yeah...but you know that's going to happen anyway, either when the rumors start to spread or when the book finally sees release.

So we're looking at a roughly 2-week countdown for some solid photos and pre-orders? That's more than enough for me, I've been waiting only since May...I know necron players who have been waiting since 5th edition came out for an army that could hang at the tournament scene.
Knowing Mat Ward wrote the rules, (hopefully the 2 others brought in were the fluff writers), I can assume the following about the codex:
It will be a generally torrent-of-fire army with a few high strength shooting weapons.
Necrons are slow, but resilient - T4/T5, good armor saves, WBB throws
The monolith and the necromancer (or whatever the giant MC is going to be called) will be hard to deal with until people figure out a weakness (dreadknights hate plasma, for example).
These are all conjectures based on hope, hope that I (as well as many other necron players) will finally be able to bring an army that looks really cool to a tournament and actually win with it rather than just phasing out all 3 rounds. Who's with me?
2 Weeks...2 Weeks....2 Weeks.......

Necron #0000001 - "Those BA chaps seemed nice, killed lots of flesh creatures, always nice."
Necron #0209353 - "Yeah, result!"
Necron #3247589 - "Kinda makes you wonder about the whole killing everything plan; those fellers were alright, you know for meatbags."
Two weeks pass without a phone call.
Necron #0000001 - "RAGE!"
Necron #0209353 - "Yeah, I know right? Damn Emo vamps used us!"

The funny thing is, they didn't even do that, fans did. And that kind of thing pissed them off to the point where we have this stupid "no news" policy. This is why pre-orders don't ship until after the release date, why you can't get your White Dwarf (even if you're a subscriber) until after everyone else buys theirs from the store, etc.
GW doesn't like hype, since apparently it hurts their bottom-line. Because you know, saving in anticipation for the new DE probably cost them thousands in sales of the old DE models that no one was buying anyway because they looked like gak. If the new range and codex weren't spoiled when they were then we all would have kept happily buying the old DE that we lost interest in after they'd sat around for a decade without a single ounce of attention.
It just seems like greed, pure and simple. They don't like showing us new stuff because it means they might lose sales on the old stuff, from people who hold on to their money and buy the new kits instead of wasting it on the old, ugly ones and having to replace it in a few months. Although this isn't always the case, sometimes it could encourage sales of existing models since some people like what's currently being offered and want to get it before it's gone, but I suspect GW bean counters don't care, it's the people not buying that make them gak themselves in rage, as they fully expect everyone to buy the current crop of models and the new ones when they're released. Just knowing that the new model will sell isn't good enough.
Honestly though I'm kind of curious to see what new Necrons look like. If the current plastics aren't getting replaced them I'm assuming it means no radical design changes or anything, but still.
I do hope there is some changes to some of the models to help facilitate a full release... I mean if rumors are true concerning Immortal troops... Can you say Paladin killers...
Speaking of GK's... I have to disagree with your statement about shipping preordered models after the release date, as I recieved my GK termies, troops, and Dread all on the day they were released... I dont know if I was special but it fealt good knowing that they came on the day they said they were...
And to all those who said a Crontober was impossible... BLAMMO!!! hows that for a slice of fried gold?!?!?!

right now they are saying 22-29 sneak-peek/pre-ordering with a November 5th actual release... though there is much speculation as to whether or not a 22 Oct peek equals an Oct release or not.
At this point dude its all in the air, we'll just have to if we are a better shot than GW thinks we are since they threw the can in the air.

The current rumors have pariahs removed entirely, though a new unit can be utilized for them and the Ctan being build your ownish coming out of the elite section. I think its pretty fair, if the story line is being reticoned or advanced it isnt a bad way to go about it.

This will be the first month I won't be getting a WD; the Ogre one was the last one in my subscription and I chose not to resubscribe even though I had the money. I do intend to buy the Necron issue when it's release from the warstore or whatever, and that will be it between us forever, I suspect. It's at least a little funny that my subscription lapsed right before coverage of my most-favorite army, but did last long enough to cover a 2-issue full codex release for the army I'm interested in possibly the least.
I hope this rumor is true, and they are released soon. I've been saving up in anticipation of this, and this coupled with a Warstore gift cert I won on Dakka, I feel I should be easily able to get all the new Necron models I find appealing, which will likely just be plastic heavy destroyers, flayed ones, etc etc. Maybe new immortals if they look nice enough, though I am quite fond of my converted immortals, and almost certainly whatever the new monstrous creature will be. Dunno about the transports; it just seems perplexing that an army with a sufficiently advanced grasp of space\time to be considered nearly magical would still rely on space trucks.
I have no problems with the C'tan going away. I don't think they are appropriate for the tabletop. It would seem even the weakest C'Tan should be essentially invincible against what can be fielded in an average 2k game. I'd prefer they kept the models and considered them to be avatars of the C'tan, or something. Or embiggened the models, and made the apocalypse only with appropriately ridiculous rules.
The only thing that could deter me would be if the codex ruins them fluffwise. Fluff is probably the thing that most interests me in an army.

Weird rumours by Blood of Kittens:
TastyTaste wrote:Network News: The Necron Rumor you need to know…and more
Oct 12, 2011
Over the last few months many have noticed rumors surrounding GW releases have been to reduced to a slow drip, instead now get the ludicrous rumors and speculation. At BoK we often hold on to many rumors that sound too implausible in the hopes of scrying the world for verification, this has led us to keep one particular Necron rumor sealed because of possible game breaking power. With the new Necrons seemly a few weeks (because one manager of a random GW store couldn’t be talking out of his ass) from rebirth I think it is time to let this one out of carbonite. It needs notation that this rumor comes in two versions that could end up conflicting with one another, so here is both so the Internet can decide.
Ok, babbling over on to the rumor…
Rumor has it that a new Necron shooting attack can cause large swaths of your opponents army in a new interesting way. How it works is simple…
- Necron Shoots Unit
- Necron Hits Unit
- Necron player allocates where the wound will be (how this is worded I have no idea)
- All identical models to the one just shot are now hit
- Roll to wound all models that are identical
- Make armor saves were applicable
Here is an example. I shoot Necron weapon at a squad of Long Fangs. I hit and chose my wound to be rolled on a Missile Launcher Long Fang. All Missile Launcher Long Fangs IN THE ENTIRE ARMY are now hit. Now think take this a step further. What if I shoot a Ork Boy?
Here is the other way this weapon could work.
- Necron Shoots Unit
- Necron Hits Unit
- Even though I only hit once I roll to wound every model in that unit.
- Opponent makes armor saves where applicable
Now this doesn’t sound as scary as the first example, but it is basically GK Cleansing Fire power for Necrons. This version also fits in with chatter about multiple weapons that deal with horde armies.
Enter highly speculative realm that shouldn’t be taken as facts.
My fear though is that both these rumors are true. Here is a way it could potential work. One type of Necron gets the lesser version of this has this weapon. Another Necron lets say a Special Character gets the power to strike at all identical models army wide. I have a feeling that either way this weapon will be short-range, one shot, low str, and no ap value otherwise we are looking at some game breaking territory.
At least one of these rumors should happen which one though…
Well there you have it folks we are in the stretch run.
If you are curious on what models will be getting a plastic rework or Finecast love just follow the link and look at what cannot add to the cart…

Look forward to all Warriors having FNP, 2 wounds, rending weapons, and cost 10 points each, as well as other left-field nonsense like, I don't know, the monolith spawning d6 deep striking destroyers per turn; and scarabs that can belch template melta...

2.) They're going to have the new wtf codex in... other ways, as well. I look forward the lords who can transform into hovercraft and who can challenge single HQ units to a freestyle rap-off for victory points, or a new C'Tan - Skullcron; who is made out of a giant skull, and has eyes made of skulls, when he opens his mouth, it shoots skulls, or perhaps background stories where the real reason Necrons are so 2x butthurt all the time is because they are the product of a human mother and a Honda pleasure droid, and one day their human daddy went to go get some cigarettes and never came back, so that's the real reason they reap the living.
