I left a pully painted chaos marines army on a table overnight in my parents basement years back....I remember hearing a noise and when I walked out of my bedroom, my mom was sweeping all the models in a box to get them off the table... it was back in the day of mostly metal models. terminators, bloodletters, HQ's, EVERYTHING just swept in a box and tossed aside.

Of course she had no real idea how much I cared about them or the paint jobs, she just did what she had always done...throw all my toys in a box when I didnt put them away myself...

needless to say, the paint was completely chipped and ruined :(

If anyone else had done that...

I have had my land speeder broken more times then I can count, all by accident. I just put it back together and call it battle damage, the thing is ironically darn near indestructible on the tabletop.

I don't let anyone I don't know personally touch my minis w/o permission. My friends have standing permission, but know to be careful .

Ah-heh... Reminds me, when my brother quit WH40k, he just put all his minis in a big cardboard box, piling them upon each other heedlessly. A few years later, when I got back into the game, having found someone to play with, I eventually asked him about those minis. He offered to sell them to me - which reminds me, I still need to pay him for all those minis... - and I rescued them from their torment. ^_^ Still haven't found his 'crons, unfortunately, but I know he had some, because I used one of his Necrons' legs as a bionics piece for one of my Sister Superiors.

A guy I know actually keeps a small mallet with him. He makes it very clear.

Topuch his stuff and a model of yours goes bye-bye. Break something and you have a choice. Either lose your prized model or buy him a nerw one. If it is expensive you do both. Sopmeone made the mistake of dropping his Thunderhawk and it smashed to pieces. Poor bloke lost his Reaver to that hammer. And hqad to buy him a new Thunderhwk.


After that that particular store banned him from life and made him pay for the reaver titan. Or else they phoned the police.

Yes, he was an absolute nutcase nerd. He refused to pay for ther Reaver Titan, even telling the manager where exactly he could put his "pricipals and rules." Then the police came. Took 3 BIG officers to bring him down. He wasdn't a small 10yr old. This was the stereotypical 200lbs 40yr old. Took him down, then got 3 other, BIG men from the store to help carry him to the police van.

He faced charges for destruction of property, verbal assault and physical assault for pimp slapping the manager, and assaulting officers. Permanet ban fropm all clubs 6months in prison, made to pay for the reaver, and a £400 fine, and his bank was told that any transactions to FW or the GW website were to be halted.



Fat deserved it all. He broke one of my sternguard with that mallet. Not the proper thing, just painted Tac marines. I wouyld have torn his head off it had been the models.

Oh man, you would hate having a forgeworld or resin army.

Every time I bring out my army it's "Cool Elysians/Death Korps!" rushes to pick it up and before I can say anything. Snap, they break the model by either picking it by the model rather than the base with a tight grip.

I of course say nothing as I know it's not done out of malicious intent, and my regular opponents usually ask to pick up my stuff. It's when I play in stores and when random people pick up my stuff without asking is when I get sketchy. Private property people... respect it.

I am really fearful of taking my thunderhawk to an apoc game far too many people about. One thing I did think of, does your home insurance cover items away from the house? I know our cameras and pc's are covered but not sure on models

I hate leaving models on the table corner next to me when they're dead. Models in the "dead pile" invaribly get p[icked up by inquisitive kids when they visit thwe store. Luckily the parents normally tell them to be carefulm andf put it down. Would hate to see a kid with ADFHD pick up my mertal Hive Tyrant that has about £20 worth of supwer glue and greenstuff on him. Brole him about 20 times. Once he was in the dead pile, and I turned, pimp slapping him, to the floor 3ft straight down.

I've never had a model broken by someone, though I have broken my own models several times and as I look over to my favoured Dark Eldar Ravager and it's unfortunate brother I'm annoyed that GW could not of made stronger joints but eh, can't blame them for everything. But he carried a mallet? Wow, that's kinda sad.

Anyways, If someone (by mistake) brushed one of my models off the table (Lets say my Metal Ghaz) and he broke into pieces, I wouldn't make him/her feel bad, Id make them feel like **** inside themselves. I would tell them that it was OK and if you *could* replace that would be great. Make it feel like it was over, but constantly looking at my model with such a face that every time they saw me they would feel the need apologize to me like 100 times a day because if they didn't they would feel bad for the rest of the day and hopefully couldn't sleep properly.

No-one touches my models without asking and having received permission from me first.

I have a simple policy:

You break my model, I break one of your bones.
There are 206 bones in the human body - where would you like me to start?

It's only half a bluff. I've never had it called.
Some people HAVE given me funny looks though - my sense of humour is such that even when smiling, they can't be sure if I'm serious or not.

Give him a slap. People need to respect others' property.

I really don't think getting physical is the right thing to do when a model of yours gets broken, even if it's on purpose. But that's just me.

My scariest moment... A girl once knocked my whole GW case full of metal eldar off a table snapping the hinges and landing upside down. Then she tried to 'help' me by picking it up upside down. It made a noise akin a bag of pirate gold being shaken. I was horrified and told her to just stop. Luckily most of the minis were one piece and aside a from a few dings and some missing arms I made out pretty well. The case took the brunt of it. I was upset at the time, but what was I gonna do? I've never had anyone maliciously mess up my models and I would probably just get them kicked out of where ever we are. Any retribution or anything physical is just plain stupid over replaceable toys.

Bad form man, that's when you say hey no big deal there just models. I'm <name>You want to go get something to eat. You had the perfect opener.

I personally only ever pick up to examine a model when its out of play. And I am extremely careful about it.

Still, I do have a nasty tendency to knock over buildings when playing...the buildings with my guys in them that is...

I've broken my own minis countless times. Either on purpose, such as when my devistator miss all 4 missles for the like 100th game in a row, or by accident like all the times I've grabbed my case too quickly and swiped it off the table without checking the seals. But, I played space marines and I was of the belief that plastic is better. I can't recall anyone breaking my models. I through a landraider at a wall once after an argument with a gf. Thing shattered to fragments.

As for the dude (or dudes) with the hammers/mallets... Take a deep breath, move out of moms basement, drop the oreos and take a good long look at yourself. You have brought a hammer to a game store to threaten people with so that they don't touch your toys. Better yet, stay in moms basement and die sad and alone staring longingly at your daemonettes in hopes that one day you'll meet a girl just like them.

Exalted DeffDread's post. I'll be emailing tose words to my friend to pprint off a few copies. We are going to put them on posters around our nearby gaming clubs and stores, because he isn't the only guy to do that. He wasthe only guy to actually follow through.

I like to let people touch my models- shows they think they look good.
On the other hand, if they seriously break it, I'd probably make them help replace it or whatever.

Had a incident once were some guy was looking at my tanks ( 2 baneblades a shadowsword 9 Leman russ ) and he started leaning on my board. I tell him dont lean on it. ( he carrys on) then i say excuse me please dont lean on my board if you damage them your buying new ones! So hes like ok fine . So i go off trying to find my mates bored and when im at my mates bored theres a huge crashing sound i turn around and rush back to my table were hes on the floor with all my tanks and if i recall correctly only 2 of my leman russ were unscaved . my shadowswords main cannon had snapped of and the sponsons were of ( not the actual turrets the things the crew stand while fireing) so i was like '' now give me £750 '' he didnt but the ones that could be fixed were but my superheavies and a couple leman russ he went out and bought new ones.

I was not a happy commisar that day!

Dude you need to be up front with the guy and tell him not to touch unless he asks, and when he asks say NO.

No it was a display thingy before a tournament so i cant really not let them touch.

I am generally pretty forgiving. if someone damages one of my models it would have to be blatantly intentional before I expected them to pay for it. That doesn't mean it wouldn't upset me. I would probably tell them not to much my models any more but I understand mistakes happen.

I run games at historical conventions a lot and so all the players are using my figures. A generally ask them to be careful, not pick up large groups, not eat then touch my figs and so on before we start. Every time I have done so every player has been incredibly respectful of my request. I think if you politely make it clear you care about your models, MOSt players are happy to act accordingly.

Quite frankly I don't care what happens to my models for the most part, there are some I care about like gul'avar, but mostly I couldn't give a (why can't I see the censored emoticon on my phone?) no reaction what so ever, go home and fix it and repaint if nessasary.

Now other peoples stuff that I care about even the lowly grot (or basic land if you play mtg) but that off topic.

I used to carry it in a laptop bag, now i got a case and i do handle everyone's models with care. Your just a bit over protective

If you can get the FW Excorcist, the one that looks like a Whirlwind, that would be better. It doesn't crush the Rhino, and doesn't slice your foot when it falls. It can alaso be used as a count as Whirlwind or Manticore if needed.
