Gaming is my favorite, but I also enjoy painting. It's a nice way to relax at night, but it's a very different enjoyment than the thrill of a good game.

I do some conversion stuff, but in general my modeling is limited to assembling kits. I usually only convert stuff if there isn't a kit, or if the kits are prohibitively expensive.

Gaming is the ultimate result of the hobby for me. I don't enjoy painting at all, although I do enjoy the modeling part of the hobby.

Still, having a great game against a good opponent usually results in a bunch of laughs and a good story. Much harder to find at the end of a paintbrush than a handful of dice.

All 3 equally, as an old hat gamer I need the whole thing to be happy.

I would also add:

Terrain making!

While I like being involved with all three I think the aspect I prefer more would be the combo of painting and modeling. I like building and painting.

(OP: If you haven't done so already you can make it so the poll takers can choose more than one answer... so maybe you can edit the poll to just 'Gaming, Modeling, Painting, Terrain Making' and then with multiple answers people who like more than just one thing can choose multiple items.)

I prefer gaming, for me it's no contest, i'm awful at painting and get bored easily, so never have any inclination to paint!

Gaming then Painting then Modelling.

I don't usually go all out on modelling, as I currently lack the equipment/space/wanting to try anything.

I have enjoyed painting more that I have to do it for a league.

All 3; for me they are inseparable. The game is less enjoyable with unpainted miniatures, painting/modeling is less enjoyable with no prospect of a game.

All three, they are all as important as each other, I love to make awesome models, I love to paint, and I adore gaming, I game most, paint second most and model least but love it so much!

1st Modeling - i dont like anything more than putting those pieces together in cool poses.

2nd Painting - there is something magical about puting painting in that grey lifeless thing you created, and slowly see him gaining life. I dont like painting due to the process (boring) but due to the results.

3rd Gaming - have no player near, so playing is not a real option. Would be 2nd for sure if there was players around...

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...

1st - Gaming I love the social aspect of the game itself and how it can bring so many random people together that share a common interest. I also have a liking for the game mechanics and how they work together to form a semi functional game.

2nd - Painting - I think that this is another leading factor of this game is painting the models themselves. I like how the paint can make a eye sore to a wonder to gap at.

3rd - Modeling - I am not a fan of modeling and conversion. I think that it is just that I am not very good at it. I should probably apply myself a little more to it.

i havn't enjoyed the 40k since 2nd edition. When units can run faster than the bullets, what's the point of guns? At least the models have gotten better.

I wouldn't build or paint models if it wasn't for the game, but I've never fielded an unpainted army.

Have to say all 3 but my modelling career has been less than stellar. Seems no one wants to hire an old balding fat man for fruit of the loom comercials.

I'm pretty surprised that painting/modeling is at the front.

It depends on the game (for instance, PP has decent models and a great game, so it's very even there, while GW has a decent game and great models, and I like Malifaux minis, but have never gotten a chance to play), but the hobby aspect edged out gaming for me.

Initially, I didn't have a chance to game. Now I have a FLGS and a chance to play, but I have yet to take advantage of it - I guess that means I'm a P&Mer at heart. Honestly, it feels like I do more modeling than painting, but it's probably roughly an even split. I've done very little converting, actually (probably because I'm pants at sculpting and haven't put in any effort towards improving ) - I'm more of a scratchbuilder. I've cranked out a number of (admittedly crappy) terrain pieces in the past, but my current kick is template-based scratchbuilds.

If only I could stick to one project and/or pick smaller ones, I'd actually have something to show for it! I've got 80% of a cardstock Baneblade and 90% of a Warhound that were abandoned as trails runs when I moved to using styrene. The new styrene Warhound is only about 50% of the way there (not far behind its cardstock predecessor in terms of parts built, but this one is getting some actual detail), but the progress on that came at the cost of ignoring my Malcador, which is around 80% complete, as well.

I like gaming, in general, but in terms of miniature wargames, my focus is painting/modeling (or modeling/painting, depending on the day ).

Opening a new box of minis is better than a game, especially now that there's more plastic kits than ever. But gaming is easier to do and doesn't kick a hole in my bank account.

All three, as I find that gaming opportunities dont occur too often, yet when I do get to the table I love bringing a freshly painted or updated unit as well as some funky new terrain straight off the workbench.

Im also a big fan of building up armies and terrain for my mates to use in large battles that I throw at my place...

I like to buy, assemble, convert... then leave the models on the shelf for several months... then I base coat them... and thats as far as they ever seem to get.

I've ended up in a vicious and delicious cycle.

Playing games makes me want to model and paint (so I have a a bad-ass looking army on the field).

Painting and modelling makes me want to play games, so I feel like there is actually a point in painting all my minis!

Great poll. Its moddeling for me. I love gaming and painting, but modelling is my fav. Because at that stage, you can add story and character to the models, much better that with painting.

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)

This really should have been a choose as many as apply poll. There wasn't an option for Playing and Modeling so I chose all three. I do paint and I like my results, but it pales in comparison from the enjoyment I get from converting, scratchbuilding and assembling.

Years ago I would have only chosen modeling, but since joining with a few like-minded gamers (we play generic skirmish games) a year and a half ago, I've really enjoyed gaming. At this point, I enjoy gaming and hanging out with them as much as modeling.

Coming full circle... While Painting still last in my list of prefferences, gaming regularly has made painting more bearable and even enjoyable.

After a personality test, it was found out that I am somewhat anti social, reclusive. However, table top games seems to be that exception. I enjoy the game but, more so, the human interaction with fellow gamers. I do not realy play computer games or online games of any type. Seeing as how I have no PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii, it is my only gaming venture. Plus, I am in my late 30's, so, why change now.

Poll has painting/modeling option, why not gaming/painting since it is what I would have chosen

I used to be purely a gamer, doing the absolute minimum to get decent looking armies for tournaments (so never did the actual minimum to get paint on, but used the easiest methods like dipping).

How finding painting to be a joy also. Still havent gotten into converting and stuff like that but finding more joy in the "whole hobby" now. Although, if my area had a more active gaming scheme, I would most likely still be stuck in gaming.
