Well, they are. Duh. When I played a all grot army, flamers and blast templates whooped my ass! They should be banned altogether!

And so should codexes! You know what? Ban 40k.

That might work, but I fear it would create a massive imbalance overall.

I mean, Warmachine and FoW would suddenly create a massive power surge that could just destroy the competitive enviroment.

I been Playing GKs since their Force Weapons bypassed EW, everyone was WS5, Stormshields ONLY worked in CC, and Justicars cost 50 fricking points each!!! Don't you accuse me of Cheese! I waited for this Cheese and if i am not going to use it against you. Why I aught to shove it in the heater grates and turn the Thermostat up to 70 degrees. CELSIUS! TAKE THAT"

In my case, everything is in metal bawkses to begin with. Doom lands in his pod. Looks around, spirit leeches cold unyielding unobtanium armor. This made reading two pages worth of stat ownage worth it.

And I've killed a Doom with mechvets. Jussayin.

I love how someone looses a game because of something they weren't prepared for or didn't now how to handle, so they complain it's OP. lol. These threads show up 2-3 times a week.

To the OP: long story short, some things may be over-powered against one army, but they will have weaknesses against other armies. It's called game balance. Most armies have it, some do not. IT's called life...

Doomy is undercosted, but not overpowered. And really, his being undercosted isn't such a huge deal when you consider the Tyranid codex as a whole (ie, it kinda sucks).

Although I'm still reeling from a game a few weeks ago against a friend who's Doom took over 30 instant-death invulnerable saves over the course of the game and passed EVERY SINGLE ONE. I have yet to see that horrible creature of his die.

I've got a Dreadnought like that. You can blow his arms off, you can blow his legs off, but you will NEVER wreck or explode him.

I would say it was Undercosted, until the FAQ hit it so hard. I was expecting some nerfs, but the fact really took a beatstick to the Doom, and the entire Tyranid codex.

How is this even remotely possible unless you are very lucky game after game or your opponent can't play his doom right. With his stupid OP 6" aura and your leadership tests twice a turn (his turn and yours) on "3" dices (+1 dice for Ld tests because of being within a synapse), you will basically lose a lot before you get a chance to even touch him in cc. If this thing gets into your ranks before you are able to shoot him down, all hell will break lose. The one I hate the most is having him in a spore and dropping beside my units. oopsy, that hurts if you miss him with interceptor.

The first time I saw him in a game, he deep-striked next to a cluster of meltavets and got pasted in a single turn. YMMV

The plural of codex is codexes.

Space Marine Sentry Turrets (IA12) are quite effective, as well. They don't get to reroll misses like they do against their intended targets, but 4 BS3 S8 AP3 shots is quite sufficient for the DoM, and they can spend the rest of their turns shooting down Hive Tyrants. Skyfire interceptor is flexible, that way.
