I knew that my Guard were lost. The three Tervigons (three!) were proving just too strong to overcome.
Out stepped a hero. A Man who could stare defeat in the maw and emerge victorious. The lone commissar Lord strode from the Guard gunline to overcome the Tyranid Menace. Some fellow even started playing Requiem for a Dream from his mobile device.
Ol' Commissar Iron Balls went splat in the first turn of assault.

Anytime Gretchens kill anything (Best I've seen is Gretchen killing 2 Terminators in shooting and (in another game) kill 3 Death Company Marines.)
Just yesterday, I saw a Battlewagon with Deffrolla tank shock a squad of paladin... the GK player attributed his wound and rolled 3 1, losing 3 Paladin... including the Apothecary. That squad of paladin went down something fierce after that

4 Chaos Terminators of Slaanesh + Abaddon charged a Razorback containing a Chapter Master and his honour guard. Abaddon headbutted the Razorback, which exploded and killed all 4 of the Chaos Terminators with the explosion.
Next turn the chapter master charged Abaddon and did nothing, whilst Abaddon toyed with his protectors (in other words, he whiffed all his attacks and said he was only taunting them). Khârn and 9 Berzerkers counter-charged, 2 Berzerkers died to Khârn, and the Chapter Master took 2 wounds from him. Abaddon headbutted the members of his guard beforehand.
The Chapter Master, busy with Khârn, failed to land a blow, panicked and was chased past Abaddon, who grabbed him by his armour and whispered "Boo." in his ear, causing him to have a heart attack and die (also known as failing his Morale check, being caught by Khârn's sweeping advance, and taking his last wound from No Retreat!).

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

every time i field my Bike army and I loose about half of my bikes to dangerous terrain.
On the flip side i once killed a Khorn Berzerker and a winged demon prince with a single sniper scout in melee. Statistically improbable yes. Priceless since it won me the game.

I'd really like to know the story behind this because I think it's impossible unless you're playing a 100,000 point game of nothing but plasma cannon devastators.
I had my tyranid shrike deep strike be hind 2 Vindicators he ignore them. Next turn they multi assualt them roll 6s for pen then two 5s for reck, his turn he shoots them and I manage to keep all 3 with 1 wound left, next turn I move them through dangerous terrain.. rolled 3 1s...I beleve they flew into a big bug zapper.

Received: Chapter Master + Chaplain and command squad charged opponant's (Wolflord? Whatever the HQ for 13th co was) HQ. It was 4th ed, I had something like 28 PW attacks that needed 3's to hit with rerolls on guys with FC. I hit twice. Rerolls gave me one more. I failed to wound all three. He then wiped the squad and won the game (one of only 2 losses with that list in 4th ed)
Given: Shas'Ui Sa'cea Ko'vash Shi and his squad were charged by an ork warboss. The Shas'ui and one other Shas'la were all that remained after several rounds (I kept making my LD saves) and eventually killed him. From that point on I gave them Bonding Knives and painted them green; always paying for the bonding upgrade despite its uselessness and expense in 3rd ed.

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.
I tend to find my Imperial Guard squads are the most reliable Monstrous Creature killers in my army. Usually assorted 'Bring it down' fire from Lasguns and some helper shots from a couple of chimeras etc take the majority of its wounds off.
Then they get into combat with a guard squad and fail exactly one save from the mauled survivors and go byebye. I've almost got a complete collection of Daemon Princes from this. I think I'm just missing a Tzeentch one.
It seems to work on Trygons too.
My most embarassing moment recently. Getting first rank fired second rank fired from a 20 man guard squad against my terminators. It wasn't that many shots all told, quite a few were out of 12 inch range. I ended up rolling 3 armour saves.
Triple 1.
I was sad, then, remembering that I was Blood Angels and had a priest nearby. Feel no pain.
Triple 1 again.
I know that's a 1 in thousands chance to happen. But still, I was rather sad.
I once had an assault aqaud get wiped out by an avatar, save the serageant, whom got an invenurable save do to the close combat shield, he killed the avatar after the most amazing streak of lucky rolls. Then he was uncermosely killed by a scattered template that wasn't intended for him, extremely anti climatic.

One summoned Greater Daemon in a Chaos vs. Space Wolves game. Daemon was down to one wound after various shooting attacks, and charged a squad of Grey Hunters along with a bunch of lightning claw terminators, going last due to terrain. One single Grey Hunter model is in base to base with it, and rolls one hit, one lucky wound, and the daemon dies. He didn't even have a powerfist or anything, it was just a lucky uppercut to the daemon's jolly sack.
The other pathetic one was when a Land Raider tank shocked an 800-some point death star of four TWC Wolf Lords. Lords promptly failed not only their morale, but the rerolled morale, and the 250 point Land Raider happily escorted 900 points off the board.

Techpriest (or techmarine, I can't remember) in a GK Land Raider, tried to repair a destroyed weapon. Rolled a one for the repair, then did the psychic test to reroll the repair result. Rolled double six for the psychic test though and blew his own head off with perils of the warp.
Playing a game against BT with my Nids.. first turn my Zoanthrop pops the land raider with lance (after some half hearted arguing, and list checking to confirm that he did NOT take blessed hull), thus forcing the squad including Helbrecht AND Grimaldus to walk across the rest of the table, right into my Tyrant, who wiped the squad and Grimaldus and Helbrecht off the table with Paroxsysm (they were slightly shortened in number from gant shooting earlier)... only to be killed by the Emps Champ.. who in turn was unceremoniously slaughtered by a lictor.
Another game, against orks, I was trying to use a full squad of LotD with flamer and Heavy flamer, to push a squad of gretchin and runtherder off the objective they were sitting on.. only to be killed to a man by said gretchin.
Then in our gaming group, there was the ballad of "capt. incompetent" the chaos terminator lord.. he was notorious for showing up on turn 5, being killed by his own daemon weapons, and otherwise being completely worthless... In one game, a single squad of FWs took him AND an Ork Warboss out in CC on the same turn (which was actually quite the epic game across the board).

The suckers:
New necrons, 2 3-man squads of Spyders, tending to the now 2 9-base scarabs. The Stormcaller was also attached
The Heroes:
6 Death Cult Assassins, 5 Warrior acolyts, and 1 inq with Rad grenades.
The set up:
A landraider rolls up and dumps out a DCA/War/Inq squad, which multi assaults the scarabs, Spyders, and the Stormlords. The DCA's swing first, and every attack they have goes into the scarabs. Now, the DCA's are Str 4, and thanks to the Inq's rad grenades, the scarabs are toughness 2. So, the DCA proceed to Insta-kill 17 of the 18 scarab bases. Attacks from warriors, spyders and whatnot continue, but at the end of the combat, each scarab base gives 3 wounds.
DCA's squad win the combat by 51 wounds. The last scarab base, both units of spyders and the stormcaller must EACH take no-retreat wounds.
I dealt out 204 no-retreat wounds this day. I am all that man dreams to be.
From without, the Imperium is assailed by alien monsters from the depths of space, nightmare death-machines and soulless daemons (as well as soulless death-machines and nightmare daemons, and the occasional soulless daemon in a nightmare death machine).
I had a warboss on two wounds with PK charge 2 mortar teams on a hill. Alone because his mob had been shot out from under him. I wasn't too worried about the combat but they rolled 2 hits then 2 6's to wound. Failed both saves. Mortar teams kill warboss. I lose game.
Swarmlord and 3 Lash Whip Guards joined by 7 Tyranid Primes and a Parasite for the Nid Deathstar in a game of Apocalypse.
Someone had outfitted a Warhound with a Str D Turbolaser.
The blast scatters on top of SM Deathsatr consisting of every special chracter. Calgar and Lysander had been shot up by a bunch of Vindicares and were on a single wound each, and every model has had its invulnerable save removed.
Str D automatically wounds, ignores armour and cover saves and inflicts ID.
