No. Why? They are there to be played with. Unless your blister is the mythical first dragon, it won't be much worth.
I do however have to work some guts up to take saw and greenstuff to an OOP model...

I do sometimes - if it's particularly old, or semi-valuable and I know I'm destroying some of that by opening. It's just a momentary wince of guilt though - overall I feel like you shouldn't own it if you don't intend to paint it/use it/whatever.

a couple of years ago I bought 60 blisters of 1st ed epic here on Dakka.

It took a while before I could bring myself to open them.

Now I have a kick ass 1st ed painted IG army on display in my cabinet, well worth it!

Not really guilt, no. Just a nervous feeling that that particular mini MIGHT be worth something in 10 years time...

It's a nervous affliction developed when my dad sold my old, original, Transformers and first cast Star Wars figures for a quite laughable price.

Without telling me...

That was 5 years ago, it still hurts.

I always feel a twinge. This package that was sealed up when I was a kid, and here I am opening it...

When I open something old, I try to paint it right away. Or at least prime it. I think if minis had souls they would prefer being painted to remaining in their packages forever. "Don't let me die a virgin!" cries the NIB beaky.

That's pretty much the case for me too. The only blisters I bought that I never opened on purpose (as opposed to simply not getting around to building a unit) were the Games Day special ones.

I used to think about it like that then I realised that very few miniatures are actually worth a great deal of money. Having a ten year old mini that's now worth £30 or £40 is pretty negligable versus years of using it. I would also suggest that his is even more true of boxed games.

Having said that I do have a rouge trader rpg collectors edition untouched kicking about here somewhere.

I feel a certain high when opening up and putting together an OOP mini. The fact that I can't get it any more encourages me to paint it up better, too.

Can't wait for my old female Dark Eldar Dracon to arrive in the mail! (^_^)

"I have concluded through careful empirical analysis and much thought that somebody is looking out for me, keeping track of what I think about things, forgiving me when I do less than I ought, giving me strength to shoot for more than I think I am capable of. They are bubble gum records that are in rolling stones album covers. He bought them for like $0.25 each back in 1984. They got to be worth something by now.

I chewed those all the time as a kid. Probably the coolest gum packaging ever made to be honest. You were COOL in 2nd grade when chewing "The Cars" or "Devo" gum. Those were pretty tasty gum too.

Thanks for the flashback. I havent thought about those in almost 3 decades. I think they were called Chewbops or Chubops or something like that.

That's the real trick. To the right person, it could worth as much as you paid. If you rush it, you can easily lose money.

I tried a couple of times to sell it for a good price, but got no bites, so It's 4 months later and I still haven't opened the blister.

I like RT marines enough that I will likely eventually paint up one or two of them and sell or trade the last one.

For your situation I would do the following depending on what your intentions are.
1) If you want to paint them, go ahead and open them. No point in not enjoying figures just because they're in the blister
2) If you don't want to paint them, sell them off. No point in keeping something around if you're not going to use it, and someone else might apprecaiate the NIB status.

Just an update, I ended up opening the blister, and I'm glad I did. For some reason the mini seemed even cooler once I had it out of the pack. This could be the mini that gets me to finally start painting up my collection of RT marines.

I'm keeping one and already have someone interested in one of the others!
