Why not just throw together a list and post it, there's enough brain in this thread to tweak it into something competitive.

While I do like Sasori's list, I am also waiting for junk to post something as well. I like junk's ideas from before but I dont know what proportions to take the units in.
On another note, Sasori, do you put the Lance-Teks in the Warrior units or keep them on their own?
I put them in the Warrior units, two squads of five can be a bit overkill. If they are in the squads, they are a lot safer, and I can fire at more targets if need be.

I have some classwork to do right now, so I'm just posting this and reading posts when they come up, I don't have the time to write my own list(s) ATM.

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause. |

Sasori's list is a hardcore shooting list with a solid assault element. You'll probably have more luck with it than my preferred list; but I guess since Sasori stepped up, I'll throw mine down as well.
My list hasn't let me down in 15 games, when i'm at 2k, I throw in some spyders. Since the faq nerfed anrakyr, I tend to use him as more of a suicide unit, but I refuse to remove him until he lets me down.
Anrakyr in CCB
DLord with MSS
Pulse-Tek
Lance-Tek
2x5 Immortals + Night Scythes
10 Eternals
2x6 Wraiths (3wc, 2pc)
10 Scarabs
2 Annihilation Barges

How was he nerfed? Because a vehicle can't shoot itself?

No, he can no longer use his Mind in the Machine power from atop the CCB, he needs to be disembarked in order to use it. He can still wreck 3 vehicles in a turn if the dice and the enemy's deployment both love you.

How can he wreck 3?
Or do you mean including sweep and assault?
Also how do you position your CCBs so you dont get downed before/after your sweep?

I still get a bit depressed at he Anrakyr nerf :(
Junk's list is pretty awesome, with a lot of quick hard-hitting units. The Dlord+Wraiths is pretty much a Wrecking ball.
At the very least, you can see that both our lists have a lot of common elements, which you will see is a Overlord with a Warscythe on a CCB (Anrakyr) At least one pulse tek, Wraiths, Scarabs, and Abarges. Those units can form the Solid backbone of any list.
EDIT
How can he wreck 3?
Or do you mean including sweep and assault?
Also how do you position your CCBs so you dont get downed before/after your sweep?
He can wreck 3 with a Sweep, MiTm/(Possible 4 with a Tachyon) and then Assault.
Sweep attacks are done in the movement phase, and all you have to do is clip the vehicle when you move over it. Since you can do this, and move flat out, you can at the very least get a cover save. AV13+cover save is pretty hard to get through. You can also use Symbiotic repair, if you get immobilzed, and living metal can negate Shaken and stunned. It's pretty hard to shut one of these down, without wrecking it.

It's tough to pull off a sweep->disembark->MiTM->Assault you have to count on
1. your opponent is too focused on your other threats
2. your opponent clumsily positions vehicles
3. anrakyr is in position at the start of your turn
I've done it once against IG -
My opponent drove a melta-bearing chimera into the 6" sweet spot alongside my CCB, but failed to immobilize it. Anrakyr swept it (explodes!) jumped ship and targeted a nearby russ with MitM, the russ shot at another Chimera containing a psyker squad, trashing it, and then Anrakyr assaulted the Russ (furious charge + Warscythe = kill anything)
It was the first time my opponent had ever played against anrakyr. Now whenever I play him, he assigns anrakyr the highest priority.

All you have to do, is clip the vehicle, anytime during your movement phase. Normal movement rules still apply. That's really all there is to it.

This list is all about getting up into your opponents face. You have many fast moving elements, that all scream target priority, making it tough to decide what to do. At first glance, the 5 warriors may seem weak, but your opponet will be much to busy focusing on everything else in the list, to deal with them. Scarabs, Barges, and Lances open up tanks quick. Wraiths can go toe to toe with anything, and come out on top.
That had me turning over in my sleep for a while and then i figured it out.... phew.

Mostly the twin linking is used for the tomb blades in that list, but the stalkers tend to pay for themselves in many other ways

I'm kind of fascinated by this list. If you don't mind i'd like to ask you a few questions about it; i've never seen anyone mix stalkers with scythespam, and I kind of love the Tomb blades as complements to all the scythes.
Why the hyperphase sword? Just curious as i've never seen anyone use it.
How do you deploy?
I assume you deploy the stalkers forward of your army, but with the rest of your army being so mobile, I wonder if they're not slowing you down. Have you tried the stalkers with alternate weaponry or are you playing them for the heat rays?
Is the reason for the MSU immortals just to maximize scythes; and if thats the case, why immortals over warriors? the extra 80 points could get you a CCB.

The overlord is taken essentially to fill the min HQ requirement and to unlock the HoD cryptek/solar pulse. Basicly, I had 15 points left over to spend on his load out. Generally getting anything into CC with this list is a bad idea (other than maybe the stalkers, and even then only after you have softened up the opposing unit). I put the extra points into the hyperphase sword and the MSS so if I get caught up by a unit with a heavy hitting character, I can at least have a shot at taking him out of the picture for the fight. They have saved my bacon on two occassions. I have tossed around the idea of dropping the HP sword and just going with a SoL on him so I can fire with him while he's imbedded in an immortal unit.
Deployment varies based on what I'm fighting and if I get first turn or not.
The stalkers serve a multitude of purposes. Range is usually not a problem as long as you deploy them up front and inline with your eventual goal. I keep the heat ray on them as the flamer profile becomes quite valuable mid to late game for objective campers, as well as it gives me some pretty reliable backup firepower against AV13-14. The twin-linking only benefits the Tomb Blades and Immortals, both of which max out at 24" and both of those typically want to be at max range. Speed is not too much of an issue as I mostly employ them at controlling the mid-board, but deploying them initially as far forward as possible usually works out the best.
I've found that 7, maybe 8 scythes is the max I want on the table and still be able to have room to manuever and fire, so I don't need to put more scythes down. The reasons for the immortals is two-fold. The first and biggest is I have had terrible luck with CCBs in the past and am just turned off of them at the moment. We are talking wiffing three turns in a row kind of bad luck game after game. You could easily swap them out for warriors and pick up a CCB and warscythe, and it would almost certainly be a stronger list in the hands of someone who isn't cursed . The second is I like the slightly better firepower and armor save of the immortals as it lets me be a little more aggressive with them.

An awesome amount of Str 5, 6, 7 and 10 firepower heading downrange.
It would give competitive Dark Eldar lists fits.

While Spyders/Scarabs could plug into the list, it starts to foul up target saturation a bit. The Spyders are as slow as the Stalkers, and while they can attract many of the same weapons that the Stalkers do, your opponent gets to concentrate them on a single unit rather than the 2-3 stalkers. On top of that, you break up the synergy of the Tomb Blades and Stalkers. Not saying it wouldn't work, I just prefer the more synergistic approach.
Halfpast_Yellow wrote:I'm in love with that list Maelstrom posted.

The issue I see with your version is again, you lose target saturation, and you do it with little increase in offensive output. I just don't think the armor upgrades are worth it on the Tomb Blades. Most decent opponents are going to know that when they fire on a unit with Reanimation Protocols, they focus fire until it's gone, and it just is not that hard to wipe a 5 model single wound T4 unit. Going from a 4+ to a 3+ just doesn't change that enough to justify it in my opinion.

In isolation, 10 points for the upgrade on a unit of Blades per balde isn't worth it.
But I just feel that with a prevalence of AP4 mainly through Autocannon/Assault cannon spam, it's justifiable when your strategy is built around the Tomb Blades. The benefit of the spam strategy is you're increasing the amount of Blades in the army and reducing the pool of effective weaponry against them by cutting AP4 weapons casualties by 2/3. You also have just immortals and vehicles as alternate targets; being a meched up universal 3+ save army has it's strengths.
I wouldn't feel the Stalkers are a priority target, QS makes them vulnerable to 2D6 vehicle penetration and not much else. Regardless of whether they are present or not my heavy weapons in general are putting down Blades and Scythes first.
Ignoring the 3+, Having 3 units of Blades is just that much better than having 2 + Stalker unless the Stalker achieves appreciable results with it's weapon, which is hard to do. Take the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvo_combat_model as a basic model for a 40k battle, plug some numbers into it and see what I mean.
Lose a squad of Blades as casualties to missle fire. The list with 10 Blades has 5 Str6 Blasts left, ( with possible rerolls, granted). The list that started with 15 Blades is putting out double the shots down range when it comes to retaliate, at up to two targets. (10 Str6 Blasts).

The thing is, the majority of AP4 weapons are going to be put to much better use taking down scythes due to generally being mid to high Str, and that the majority will be found on platforms that are prime targets for scythes. The rest are typically easy enough to out manuever due to short range and/or low speed or even putting some cover between you and the opposition.
The original version of the list had 3x tomb blades, but ran into the problem that if the first two turns go badly, and the scythes get mostly neutralized without doing enough damage in return, the tomb blades simply aren't enough to carry the list. The stalkers are a platform that are generally resilliant enough to last through to the mid to end game, and versitile enough to pick up the slack as you lose scythes.

Just my 2 coppers on the topic of Tomb Blades and upgrades, I swear by the Shadowlooms. Their 24" weaponry means keeping them behind cover a relatively easy task, and 3+ cover saves are nailserrific. It makes it to where a group of 5 can take 12+ wounds before losing its last member (and taking away RP), hang out on the flanks at maximum range and you'll generally find your opponent struggling to amass enough wounds to take them out in one round of shooting.

Don't Forget 2+ cover save when Turbo-Boosting. That enough is quite likely worth taking the Shadowlooms on them.

No he's right, turbo is a 3+, 2+ with stealth.

So vehicles get a 3+ cover save when turbo?

Vehicles don't turbo, they flat out, which yes only provides a 4+ CS.

Vehicles don't turbo, they flat out, which yes only provides a 4+ CS.
And bikes turbo boost, which grants them a 3+ cover save then?

In another thread, ShadarLogoth suggested using Tomb blades with shadowlooms as a stealth-screen, I think it's a killer strategy.
RE: Spyders/Scarabs
Yes spyders are the same speed as Stalkers - but the scarabs are much faster and much more dangerous to vehicles, especially transports, considering that scarabs can surround a transport when they wreck it to destroy the unit inside.
Spyders give you additional scarab bases, suck down a decent amount of fire, and still do MC level damage in CC to infantry and Vehicles (ignoring armor saves, and slamming with 6+2d6 armor pen) T6 and multiple wounds for 50 points is stellar.
