They are, but I'm trying to think of another combination of things to allow them to be fielded. I have many options for my next 500pts, and I need to decide which will benefit me the most.

You could also add a devastator squad.

Oh yeah! Throw in a Dev squad with rocket launchers! So, a Pred, a Dev Squad, and a tact squad? It sounds like a pretty effective add on onto my army.

I think thats the way to go. Remember once you get to 2500 points, your force organisation chart is going to be choka block, so be careful now.

Thats definitely true. Crap. Maybe a Dev squad isn't the best way to go. I mean, I may need another type of heavy support instead of a dev squad... Maybe bikers?

Bikers are fast attack. IMHO I think bikers I only work if you have huge squads or small suicide squads loaded with melta weaponry.

What would be a good sized squad? 4-5 bikers?

I don't use bikes often enough to know, Iv'e just seen one bike army that worked well with full bike squads and Iv'e used suicide bike squads once or twice. When I use bikers, I make them 3 man with two meltaguns and a combi-melta on the sergeant.

For 140pts, I could also possibly build a decent sized Assault Marine squad. Yet I'm reluctant to do so, as my past experiences with Assault Marines have been terrible.

The only time assault marines have worked for me are when they are ten-man with either shrike or a chaplain.

I think I should re-evaluate what I should get in the next 500pts.

My options are these:
Telion
Tact Squad
Second Scout Squad
Terminators
Sternguard + Razorback
Predator
Missile Launcher Devastator Squad.

I would personally go devastator and sternguard.

That won't be all that expensive point wise, and will actually offer great firepower. Plus, from what I've heard the good news is that those Dev's won't attract too much attention.

I generally go with 4 plasma cannons in a devastator squad, but it is more of an anti-elite thing than a balanced army tactic.

Would you say I have enough - if any - anti elite measures?

Sternguard would give you enough anti-elite, so I wouldn't do a plasma cannon devastator squad and sternguard.

So, Missile - Devs and Stern? Or no Devs at all?

Missile Devs are what I'm estimating to be around 210pts, and I think my sternguard will be about 280 with a Razorback w/ dozer blade and Las+ TL plas, 3 Combi Meltas, two combi plasmas, and a Power fist. So, I have ten points left over. Wow, no matter what I do, I'm going to get around 10ish guys for my next 500pts

When I went from marine to orks, it was a huge difference. I gave up with a single movement phase taking half an hour as 750 points.

I can imagine THAT being difficult! Orks barely get any armor!

It was more so the number of models. I had over 100 orks in total in that small a points limit (including gretchin).

Yeah, i've considered Orks for quite a while. Hell, I'm starting a few really small armies (around 500ish points each) of all the armies I want. I know this is off topic, but how good is the Ork battleforce?

I never bought it, I just bought black reach, and alot of second hand ork boyz, in box and out. In my opinion, the ork battleforce is average. Still, it allows for an easy and fast army.

Another off topic question, are nob bikers good units?

Personally I don't think they are goof unless your doing a full biker army. Normal bikers I find are good only in fast armies with lots of trukks or full bikers.

Eh, I see how you could be right there. I can see them as suicide powerfisting take-out-that-land-raider squads. But, I can also see where you're going with the whole "fast army" thing.

I have posted quite a few army lists just now too. One for Orks, one for Necrons, one for Eldar, one for Grey Knights, and one for Tyranids. I hope I can get some advice.
