Hmm

I think it is either the Empire Captain kit or the Empire Wizard kit. I have enjoyed building models from both kits and there are a number of different options, and loads of extras for the bitz box!

Armies | Space Marines (Void Knights - Own Chapter), Space Wolves & Dark Angels | Imperial Guard Cadian and Kasrikin | Grey Knight/Sisters/Inquisitors | Empire - Hochland | Britanan (Relics) | Mordor & Gondor |

In over 25 years of collecting minis, the best is the Forgeworld Carmine Dragon with Elspeth. Absolutely gorgeous model, and perfectly cast, down to the ritual pin-prick scars under her eye. The only issue I had was 2 left claws (or was it right?), easily dealt with. And at £70 I feel it's great value - I would happily have paid up to about £100 for it. It's that nice. I have no idea how I'll paint it to do it justice. Perhaps with a brush made from a single unicorn hair, or something.

Most satisfying purchase. Two boxes of the old GW Skeleton Army. They had 30 infantry, 8 horse, and a chariot and retailed for about $30-35 when they were in production. I saw two boxes of them at a flea market table at a convention and GW had gone to packaging those items separately and in smaller quantities by that time. The owners response after I asked his price, "$25 each but if you buy both $40 for the lot." My immediate response, "Done!" Afterwards, when I got home I costed them out and found I'd gotten about $225 worth of skellies at what were then-current GW prices. That felt good. Still have them, even if I can't use the entire army as is any more. [Supplemented the skellies with vampires and other items that can only be used in Vampire Counts now. Suppose I can get a Tomb Kings book though.]

Last purchase was just some Grey Knights so I had some spare weapon options to shove on my feth-ton of metal GK.

Satisfying is definitely the Dragon Titan of Aarklash that I stole from a dude on Ebay for $120 SHIPPED.

Last purchase I made was my 20 Initiates and a LRC for my Black Templars army....still sitting on my desk glaring at me to build them.

My most satisfying purchase...hmm....would probably be a tie between a few things. Either my FW Avatar which is just infinitely cool, my Games-Day FW MK III Boarding Marine who I have outfited to be my BT Marshal, or custom Magnus the Red which I purchased from one of our very own dakkanoughts. All of the models are wonderful sculpts and some of my best pieces.

Hmm, I just started a DDK army and I bought three boxes of Wargames Factory greatcoat troopers which I think look great for the price, especially compared to FW prices!

But my favourite was the Landspeeder Storm, god I love that thing, pain to build, too flimsy for a precious FA slot, but it just looks so cool!

i would have to say, and it may be simple, but the IG cadian shock troops squad,
its the first box set iv'e truly taken time to paint and the first kit where i swallowed my pride and used citadel paints over humbrol enamels.
and it works a lot better.

the most satisfying moment iv'e ever had in a game was when my land speeder storm took 3 glacing hits from an earthshaker canon and one direct hit and survived....

i contacted my friend in 2010 about purchasing his IG off him. Sure enough he was in the mood to sell since his 8000 points of Black templar are his personal favorite over the guard force he had been collecting. We bargined till the final price was 40$ plus the Helsreach Novel for all of his guard. His total force was as followed:

5th edition Codex (new)
4th edition Codex (old but mint)
48 lasguns, a couply w/ radios
10 regs w/ G Launchers
1 w/ meltagun
1 w/ plasmagun
3 guys from the Macragge set (the 'captain' who wa flying the crashed lander)
5 ratlings
1 well painted senior officer with chainsword and laspistol
1 assassin sniper (Vindicare)
4 sergeants w/ Las pistol and CCW
junior officer with a force field generator
a plasma pistol and a power sword
a standard bearer
a combat medic
a metal 'wounded soldier' model which comes with the command squad
a metal guy who looks like a green beret
who is carrying an 'auto rifle'
which is from 3rd ed.
but well painted with camo
An old Gene stealer cultist leader who basically looks like a psycher and DEFINATELY looks the part
but he comes from 3rd ed. as well
Comissar Yarrick
6 weapons platforms : 2 with mortars, 1 with HBolter, 2 with Autocannons
and one with interchangeable Auto/Bolter/Lascannon
10 Kasirkin, 2 w/ Grenade Launcher, 1 sergeant with hellpistol and power sword
1 leman russ with sponson bolters, lascannon, extra armor, dozer blade and smoke launchers
1 russ with just a HBolter and battle cannon

Without a doubt, my first Monolith. Had to of been 9 years ago, took odd jobs through high school to afford the hobby, and out of everything I bought, that was the most gratifying. Especially so when I finally got it assmelbed/painted and began to blow my buddies Blood Angels to Hell and back.

I'd have to say that as far as GW goes, the most satisfying purchase would be the Minotaurs and Doombull I bought when I made the trek to Warhammer World last month.

It was a bit hard to pay full price, but that was easily overlooked by having the anchor of my Beastmen army be an awesome reminder of my trip.

Non GW...Buying Skyrim on a whim last Nov. was 100% worth it. Easily my favorite game in quite some time.

My favourite purchase is my GK thunderhawk. It was expensive, but it is an awesome model and by far one of the best that FW produce.

Currently its being painted in parts and the lights are finished.

Most recent would be bases and buildings from proxie models. Really like their take on base styles and the buildings will be really nice with a bit of work (mostly the doors) to bring them from 15mm to 10mm.

I've had alot of satisfying purchases, but relatively recently I acquired a batch of 30 Alternative Armies Retained Knights. They are a line of figs that I've admired for over a decade, but only now do I have some.

Most Satisfying so far was the Cities of Death box set of buildings. I populated my entire table out of that box and had hours of fun building them, since then countless games have been played across the blasted landscape we made back then. To this day I still pull bits out from that box to base my models.

Most Recent satisfying purchase was (strangely enough) just a set of the new paint pots... Khorne Base, Evil Sunz Scarlet, Wazdakka Red, Fire Dragon Bright, and Bloodletter Glaze. I can't wait to put it on all 40 of my Red Hunter Assault Marines, the test model came out awesome.

Recent purchases would be the imperial barracades for some basing things and the 40k basing set.

The 2 purchases that are most satisfying:
The new paints. I actually enjoy painting now.

And a pegasus knight I bought for my girlfriend as a gift. She ended up having a horrible day and I gave it to her as a surprise and she loves it.

I have 2 that have been amazing.

Recently I picked up a 35pt Cryx army for $40!!!

The other favorite was back about 4 years ago the wife and I were out looking at garage sales and I happened to notice a few GW models out on the table, they guy had a huge shed in the garage full of stuff.
I wound up with 3 Battle for Maccrage the old assassins box set, a few space marine art books, and 5 or 6 IC's I spent like $60 and made a few hundred off the Ebay on that one.

Now with 100% more blog....

Most recent purchase is a telescope for my wife... Most recent wargames related purchase was a set of Killa Kan and Crisis Suit bits to add to my Terran SCV counts-as Techmarine.

Most satisfying purchase was probably the joint order I did with some friends for 4 Army Transport cases and assorted additional trays. Damn did that all come in a big box

I approve of this tread, I think for my part it has to be the four boxes of Royalist Cavalry from Warlord Games, I was not sure of what to expect but I was left speechless by the quality of them. I think I may have found a alternative way for a Empire army to be born.

Table top gaming, I think getting the Ortega box set and rule book for malifaux. As far as GW, either my last chancers or Tanith box set. Gaming overall, I think the basic game box for Ticket to Ride. Great game for my family.

While not my BEST(that would be the $100 I spent to get ~$1500 of GW minis, rules, and older WDs), my most satisfying would be buying the MkII rules and cards for Warmachine to get back into the game and get my group into it as well.

Wow nice one!

I've been tempted to get one so many times, but I know that the moment I do, the very next second the plastic one will be announced.

Although, as time goes on these days I think it is increasingly unlikely to happen. And even if it does so, it will either be a chibi-thunderhawk (somehow squeezed onto 3 normal sprues) or else almost the same price as the FW one.
