All Fliers start in reserves. Reserves come in on 3+ each turn. If Fliers go off the board they enter ongoing reserves and Zoom back on next turn. Automatically Appended Next Post: Reserves come in on turn two just like in 5th

Unless they changed something in 6th, I am probably just going to deploy like 3 empty Nightscythes in reserve along with 2 Doomscythes in the heavy slot. That's 5 flyers and more than enough pain for my opponent to deal with. Sure they are likley to get shot down, but it resolves the AA issue for the most part and is going to definitely detract a lot of fire from my ground units while they are forced to deal with those on turn 2-3. I have to get home and read the reserve rules in 6th to see if I can do that though.
certainly works but the rest of your army could be facing 2 turns of shooting without that sizable chunk of your army. Also when they arrive they are very shooty but difficult to maneuver. You might get 1-2 good shots in before you have to leave the table. Your opponent could just ignore them and focus on the rest of your smaller army and if he does you could get whiped off the map and lose.

Assuming one round of night fighting, wherein you cannot be targeted at all if you are 36" away, you are not likely to get hurt badly at all in the first turn. And if anyone actually tries to simply ignore the Necron air support, well then that's going to just about be gg.

How about allies of a GK librarian with a storm raven and some th/ ss termies?
Is that legal/viable/any good lol?
Adds psychic powers, another flier, and some really tough cc...
I haven't got my rulebook yet, or a grey knights codex buttt I've been thinking of starting a GK army for a while along with my necrons (and guard) and this seems to tick a lot of boxes

I was thinking of allying orks to my crons. There's some sort of appeal to adding Nob bikers + warboss to my already very fast wraithwing/tesla-spam necrons. Or maybe warboss + meganobs in a battlewagon running around to be a nuisance. Or maybe just 60 boys?
I'm liking the possibilities of an ork/cron alliance even though us necron players don't really need any allies.

He tends to be unreliable, though. Fliers can do a significant level of damage such that I would not want to rely on Imotekh.

It can be as good as any snap fire and as rerollable as twin linked tesla cannons with a chronotek.

Only if they're 24" or more out, and they zoom.
Yes, immos not "reliable" but he's still good against a lot of stuff. The longer he lives, the more stuff dies, the softer the targets for your other stuff.
Immo also works well with scythes, barges, and anything with around a 24" range. I'm personally using him and a bunch o stormteks in my early 6th ed testgames

I was thinking along the Nob Bikers track myself. Pricey unit, but having a fast, durable scoring unit could be huge for an aggressive Necrons list. IME, footslogging Min Warriors can cut it...but nothing cuts it quite like Nob Bikers! My big worry is too many points would be tied up in CC-oriented units when Flyerspam could potentially make a lot of that useless. Three Doom Scythes for instance. (Then I start thinking, hell, I'll just run 3 Doom Scythes...)
I'll probably do a Nob Biker squad in any case. To me, the idea of modelling a scarab clinging parasitically to the Warboss' head is too funny to pass up (he thought he was putting on a helmet of course).

I'm adding some droppodding SWs to my necrons.
Since I run a phalanx army I find my biggest problem is dealing with enemy back fielders. A drop-pod with GHs, a rune priest, and a wolf lord is perfect for causing havok while my main force advances.
