My sniper scouts might prove useful for that. It's a T7 model, which means nothing as I'm wounding on a 4+. A round or 2 of shooting aught to take it down even with it's save.

The newer books are not optional, nor are they broken. They simply are not normal so you might be unfamiliar with them. The books do state to have your opponent peruse the rules carefully before playing.

You can target the gun emplacement seperatly, even on a Bastion(units on ramparts aren't embarked, they just have a 3+ cover save)

Well I'll be damned, I never realised you couldn't take a pod for terminators. I guess I just always assumed that you could.

TBH, skyfire weapons aren't that much of a worry. Other than from other flyers all you have to worry about is S7, and while it's TL you really don't have to worry much. Think of your armour as being 2 better and this weapon being a lascannon. It's not that dangerous. Ok, so you've got AV10 ork flyers, but other than this it's not going to be too bad. Anyway if they get too many hits, just evade for a 5+ cover, which doesn't make very much difference to ork shooting. Other than this, they're not likely to penetrate your armour.
Actual skyfire lascannons are also unlikely to do anything as they simply don't have enough shots. It doesn't matter how good that shot is, it's most likely either going to miss, not penetrate or simply do nothing when it does penetrate.

My Vet uses the signum on the bolter armed devistator manning the emplacement. BS5 doesn't miss often.

Fair enough. In that case, I suppose you'll have to follow the advice in the rest of this thread, although I don't think you're likely to be up against this very often.

In 2 games already, those dreaded Quad Guns took out a flyer as soon as he came in.

That's not exactly likely. Mathhammer says that there's a 140816 in 531441 chance of one bringing down an AV10 flyer when firing at BS4, including the fact that there's 4 shots. Ok, that's a bit over a quarter, but it was unlucky for that to happen twice in a row. Generally speaking they aren't that much of a threat, and they become far less threatening with higher AVs.

alright, I'm confused.

Can you shoot at a quad gun or lascannon on top of a manned emplacement?

It actually makes a huge difference, the jet is BS3 TL.
So it goes from 13.5 hits to 4.5... (On a waagh of course)

Carry in 6 boxes of valkyries to the store. Then watch as my opponent fields tons of AA guns. Then proceed to open those boxes to reveal a foot guard list.
