Just tried the Melta and eviscerator on some of my own guys, only with part of a chaos marine backpack as a vent on the melta. Works really, really well and is very simple but effective to do. Thread exulted.

I like that it gives all the weapons a sort of 'modular' look to them, which I would expect from such a mass produced item. As though they are all based on the same basic frame (Which the models themselves are)

Gotta say that this is great, I picked up some Dark Vengence cultists and a box of Imperial Guards, time to make some badass henchmen.
Also, I made my own take on the plasma rifle, I'll try to make some pics when I've got some free time.
Cheers!

I might try this plasma gun conversion with stormies, as the hot shot lasguns might work better with the backpacks and pipe. I'll see what I can do.

You know, i had that same thought as well. Only problem is i have no spare stormtroopers to try it out on. Please lemme know how it turns out.

May be able to do something with the vox unit or flamer tanks too.

You can always get a lasgun, a pair of guitar strings, the vox unit, and make a hotshot lasgun, it's not that useful in-game, but it's an idea.

I did a similar thing with the Meltagun but differently. I cut the hose off the flamer, cut off the flamer bit, cleaned it up and just transplanted the melta nozzle from a multimelta sponson from my Leman Russ(I don't use sponsons and far as I know NO ONE uses the multimelta sponson) and put it onto the end of my flamer. Works perfectly.

Okay, well here it is.

I should've taken pics as I went along, but it was a prototype so wasn't sure it would work out. I really like it though, so will do another one.

Basically, it's really straight forward: You cut the hot-shot lasgun at exactly the same place (more or less) as you did in your designs which used oridnary lasguns.

Then, I used your idea of taking the barrel from the grenade launcher and sticking it to that.

Finally, I used the VERY old plasma gun muzzle (it's actually from the original Space Crusade, so I think 1988?) and attached that to the end to make the large muzzle. But you could easily use green stuff for this instead.

It does require some careful cutting and filing as the stormies are all metal. But it only took about 20 minutes.

I will paint the above plasma gun stormie soon though and report back, since you are interested.

Sorry, I feel a bit like I am highjacking OP's thread! Hope you don't mind me posting these pics. If you do, PM me.

Probably work

I think it looks way too large. Maybe if you used the plasmagun muzzle without the grenade launcher tube in the middle?

Really? Damn. I was quite happy with it tbh. It's only a few millimetres longer than the hot-shot lasgun.

I did consider just using the plasma muzzle without the grenade launcher, but it would look really chunky and far too small for a plasma gun.

I think it definitely passes as a plasma gun though with the grenade launcher part housing the plasma coil and the pipe and backpack representing the energy cells and cooling systems.

Essentially I wanted something a bit different for my Kasrkin and wanted to use the bitz I already had lying around. I saw this thread and saw I had grenade launchers in my bitz box and some old space crusade plasma guns so messed around with both ideas and ended up with this 'long barrel' plasma gun. Kinda of a mixed reaction from people it seems, some love it, others feel its just a bit too long and 'bad ass' looking lol
Fair enough, I do see where they are coming from, as it looks more like a 'plasma RIFLE' than a 'plasma GUN'........But hey, they are kasrkin, so I say they are bound to have the best goodies!

Some tips to avoid green stuff:

Use the hose from the flamer and attatch it under the meltagun. You might need to bend it alittle first. Just use a hairdryer to warm the plastic up abit first.
You can also cut off 4-5mm first and use that part for the feul tank.

Really great job on these simple yet effective conversions! I'm sure these will make many IG players happy with the low requirements these have, both in skill and currency.

For the plasma gun I have another idea to represent, seeing some people viewing the OP's idea somewhat strange. I've been thinking to build some plasma guns from lasguns and plasma pistols (of which I have loads as a marine player). I haven't yet figured it out completely, but the result should look nice (and the overheating coils are further away from the puny guardsmen ). What do you others say?

Of course this requires one to have the plasma pistols, but they shouldn't be too hard to get hold of, since few marine players use them anyway.

i've found you can use the barrel of the normal lasgun for the tank.

Sorry for bad camera quality, but just the end of the rifle and the bent tubing means less greenstuff fething about.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!

Thats awesome looking. Totally bummed i didn't think of doing that.

I'm gonna add a note about that in the OP. Its wicked looking and removes the need for troublesome Greenstuff. Nice work mate.

I think I know what you have in mind building plasma guns from plasma pistols and lasguns!

Post pics when you have the time as I think you have a good idea here.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I just made the first pair of plasma guns out of cadian lasguns and they turned out quite nice. It takes just a bit green stuff to fill the gap between the two parts. Tomorrow I'll test it on catachan lascarbines - just to be fair. I'll try to get pictures of the process and the finished guns also. Until then... Cheers!
