Yup, I've seen a few up close - absolutely awesome. Even if the style might not be your thing, at least technically they're impressive as hell!
I do wonder, though. much of KD's appeal comes from the highly detailed resin kits he does now; this KS however will be for a "boxed game" with figures in "plastic" (whatever the hell that means; it's not exactly too specific a term!) going more for a mass appeal.
I don't know if it will quite survive that translation as we might hope.
Nothing to do about it but wait and see I guess, but to get yourself all excited for something up his usual alley might not be wise.

If you read the interview link someone posted, Adam describes the game as containing more generic peices, rather than the Boutique Horror stuff we've all come to know and love, so I doubt we'll be seeing something like the Wet Nurse.

Guess we'll see in the coming weeks what's in store. I currently own most of the Kingdom Death models, they're on that ever growing 'to do' pile!

A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on.............

Hello!

During the course of the campaign I plan to make myself available to answer as many questions as I possibly can and I wanted to ask what thread here on dakka would be most appropriate to do so.

I do not want to impede anyones free thoughts and feelings, but would like to offer facts and insight that would be otherwise very hard to find!

Please advise me, and thank you.

Hi KD, great to see you here.

I was going to make a Kingdom Death ongoing news & rumour thead as soon as the next batch of release's come up, but if your joined up you could do it instead of me if you want, your choice really. In terms of the kickstarter that will get a serprate thread either created by me or someone else, depends who gets round to it first. The News & Rumour thread and the kickstarter thread could be combined if thats works better for you, but I personally feel it would get a little "cluttered".

Either way let me know what you would prefer.

For the Kingdom Death Kickstarter campaign, this Kingdom Death Kickstarter campaign thread seems appropriate

I hope they don't move too far away from the boutique horror style they've been doing. That was what made them unique in a market getting a bit saturated with generic Fantasy stuff.

Damn them!

This will be the 3rd KS I've put in on this year. If this ends up being good, I'm going to go broke...

Yea, I just found about Kingdom Death Minis, and am already trying to figure out what I can do with out to get some of their stuff, and with a KS, no matter how good it looks, I hope the game play is well thought out.

It is awesome that this KS will focus mainly on new releases. This will attract more people, both those that have purchased earlier miniatures as well as those that never got the opportunity. Hopefully, as the campaign draws more money, Adam Poots might include some of the sold out pieces (Wet Nurse, Gorm, Manhunter, etc.) as possible add-ons or stretch goals.

I am looking foward to all pleasant surprises.

I've been waiting for this to appear in one form or another. Nice that it coincides with a nice windfall

I'm intrigued by the bit in the interview that mentions armour that can be added onto the heroes to make them more unique

"The newest thing in terms of the miniatures will be the introduction of interchangeable armor kits, so people can customize their character(s) to a much greater extent."

It'll be interesting to see how this works and how easy it will be to evolve your character over time.

I see they've added a countdown timer to the Kingdom Death website KS goes live in 25 hours from now

Aye, the armour changing and customisation sounds good. It will be good to build up your character. My guess would be you start as a lowly survivor and build yourself up to a game hunter, white speaker, etc etc.

Also, I've been reading into some of the given hints and comments that this will be inspired in some fashion by warhammer quest. If true: Nice!

Just hope some of the more disturbing sexual imagery is toned down a bit.

No, spraying three colors on your minis does not count as painted! 5k+

Depends on If they have early bird specials! Kingdom death in renown for it's limited runs and elite collectors membership! so some items might be 1-10 backers even at low levels..

Well, I hope if the early birds are in, there's more than just 10 runs! Looks like I'm staying up tonight...

I am confused... so this isn't a kickstarter.
Is it just buying Ltd Release Models to help it along?

Kingdom Death?

Nope this is for the new board game Monster which will contain 20+ new sculpts the existing limited edition stuff may or may not feature but it's not the focus of the kick starter.

this is an early prototype image from their website:

more info from various sources:

The Kickstarter is for “Kingdom Death – Monster” our first miniature board game. The game features cooperative gameplay, over 20 never before seen miniatures including a huge monster sculpted by JAG and… well I really don’t want to spoil it so, please just check us out on friday!

The main pledge level will be $100 as seems to be the norm with this type of project now.

I'll be staying up to watch this go live in around 4 hours time. - UPDATE actually maybe I won't I'm seeing reports that the count down timer is counting down to midnight in whatever time zone your in - some people are already at 0 hours left so it looks like this goes live at midnight EST which would be 5AM GMT will have to set the alarm clock.

Yeah, Mine ended at midnight for me as well (which is why it confused me).

Hopefully there is no early bird on this (As I cannot stay up 24 hours to get it!) ;-)

For me too.

But even if there are differences, it's likely a function of the timer he put up on his own website (say, he set the time to count down to "midnight" and it does just that responding to time kept in your browser).

I highly doubt there will be a sequential Kickstarter-go-live sort of thing.

Yeah, unfortunately that seems to be the case now!

Still, if the miniatures are up to their usual standards... $5 each without any interesting stretch goals seems OK?

Sounds about right don't forget the game also has tiles, dice (D10s) and cards as well plus I can't wait see what the large monster by JAG is. I'd say stretch goals will probably add more of the generic miniatures and later may add more special/hero miniatures. I'll back this for $100 (or maybe more depends on the reward levels) and I'll be happy with the game with 20 miniatures for that price even if we unlock nothing else the stretch goals are just bonuses and aren't my main reason for backing the project - with some of these projects some backers expectations for what their $100 gets them has become unrealistic.

The plan seems to be to just reveal 1 or 2 stretch goals at a time to keep people guessing I have to say I prefer this method of stretch goals I like to be surprised by what's next keeps the interest up rather than seeing everything planned to X dollars plus having stretch goals to unrealistically high amounts can put people off from the start - not that I don't think this will take a lot of money but don't come right out looking for $1million! build up to it over $10k to $20k stretch goals.

Here's Kingdom Death's kickstarter creator's page - I assume they are running this themselves and it will appear here soon:

Well, yes and no.

If the 'expectation' for this kind of thing is now "$100", then the flip side of that is we should 'expect' something pretty good for that $100.

$100 is no small amount of money!

And, as noted, the bar has been set by SEDITION WARS, RELIC KNIGHTS, ZOMBIECIDE, etc.

Maybe KS hasn't aproved the project yet ?

Impacts Chibi project was about 2-3 weeks late as KS took their time about it
